Being a homeowner I've been to a lot of hardware stores, Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc. And because Lowes is the closest to our pos, it's usually our go to. Now from my experience past and present, it seems that most of the folks that work there (and other hardware stores) seem kinda "habut" (pidgin Hawaiian for grumpy), not very proactive when it comes to customer service. Almost seem kinda annoyed at customers. I don't know how many times I've walked by an employee w/o being acknowledged or asked if I needed help with anything. When I do need help I always end up, 1. trying to find someone in that department and 2. asking for help. It's not to say they don't help, you just have to ask. Years of this I've kinda grown accustomed to hardware store customer service being this way. Never rude, more ignored and not engaging. This also taught me to be somewhat independent and resourceful, pretty much knowing the layout and aisles to find what I need. Then one post Thanksgiving day I stop by the Lowes in Lacey while visiting family to pick up some stuff to fix stuff around my mom's house. Through out my entire visit to that store I swear I didn't walk past one employee w/o a greeting or being asked if I need any help finding anything or what not. In all my years I don't think I've ever had this kinda customer service from a hardware store EVER! Normally they don't say anything as I walk by, in some instances they kinda walk the other way or avoid eye contact. Not this Lowes, I was greeted, smiled at, talked to. I almost didn't know what was going on. Now I don't know if it's like that all the time at this particular Lowes , but I say this with the utmost sincerity, this was the most nicest, helpful, pleasant experience in a hardware store I have ever had! Goodness, if they are like this all the time it would almost be worth that two hour commute just to shop there from my house...almost. And to top it off, I found everything I needed. We ordered a pre lit Christmas tree and a pre lit wreath from Lowe's for curb side pick up. We arrived and parked in the marked pick up parking spots and notified the store we were there. The employees that brought our items to the vehicle were prompt, friendly and appeared to handle our boxes with care. We haven't had an opportunity yet to unbox the items and will leave an update when we do. The wreath box did have a gash in it though so being hopeful. read more

I bought a chemical sprayer from Lowe's a month or two back. When I took it to the checkout counter, I mentioned that it appeared to be a RETURN by the way the box was taped up. The sales person assured me it was a new device. -- Now, today I open the box, fill up the sprayer, pump it, and then realize the spray nozzle is not attached, nor is there one in the box. --- So, I return to Lowe's with it. I explain to the girl there what the situation is. She stares at the sprayer and asks "What is that thing called?" I sensed this was not going to go well. The girl had more pimples than freckles on her face. She proceeded to refund the cost of the sprayer to my debit card. -- But did not give me a copy of the receipt. I stood there and waited for the receipt, but she didn't get the point. So, my next question to her was, "So, I explained that you sold me a sprayer that did not have a spray nozzle and now I ask you -- how do I spray the weeds on my lawn with my debit card??? Shouldn't you have REPLACED the sprayer with a new one, rather than refund the money?" --- Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware, these are a couple alternatives to Lowe's. Home Depot is out of the game, I have had too much dissatisfaction with customer service there. LOWE'S-- You LOSE! The prices were reasonable the people were helpful and friendly. Like most places, the plants were a little wealthy, but seem to bring right back the next day when I watered them in the night before and I did enjoy the selection of futures that I saw. read more

I have been attempting to have installed a new front door from the Lowe's on Corporate Center Drive in Lacey. I purchased the door in August and as of today - Dec. 8 - still do not have the door, and cannot get a straight answer from the Lowe's folks as to when the door will be delivered. Previously the order was incorrectly measured resulting in a month delay; then materials for the second door were damaged - the vendor committed to an end of November install date but missed this time and Lowe's only informed me after I called them!! Today I called to inquire of the status and was told by Lowe's that they were still waiting to hear back from the vendor!!? And along the way there have been few apologies, if any. I will be remodeling my kitchen next year. Lowe's will not be asked to bid on it because they are just so thoroughly unprofessional. They can operate a business this way? Unreal. read more

First I was disappointed that you can't find any associates after 8pm. No one to help you find anything. Tonight I went into Lowes on Martin Way in Olympia Wa to get some shelves. Lowes has a sign that clearly state that Lowes will cut your shelves to the customer desired length just ask for an associate I couldn' find an associates to help so I ask one of the cashier. She called for assistance and they replied that they did not do that service. I told her that there were a sign posted that they will custom cut shelves. The cashier asked me to take her to where the sign was located. I did just that and she saw the same sign that I did. I can not believed that the lazy help at Lowes do not consider the customers time has ANY value. Seriously a joke. I went to get a bag of concrete one bag of concrete. I asked the person if there was somebody who could help me load it up. They started down the aisle way with a freaking forklift. I wanted one bag of concrete. I didn't know they were there to help me. But I was parked at the other side of the parking lot and thought I would help them out by pulling my truck over close to the register that I was checking out. That's the last time I help someone at Lowe's. I am sick of being treated like. I am bothering people when I ask for help, And for having to wait 25 minutes for help. Loading an eighty pound beggar concrete that would take them like two seconds. The person at the cash register was awesome and very thoughtful, But those who were supposed to be helping had way more important things to do things that did not involve the customer. Guess what people without customers you got no business. Help the customer. A wonderful woman who is also there to purchase. We purchased a Frigidaire induction range last week. Turned out to be a lemon. Since it was new we had warranty service take a look at it. Yep faulty circuit and fan. We contacted Lowe's and they said we could return it. The process was smooth. They brought the new one the next day and took the broken one away at the same time. We were refunded for the first range the very next day. Everyone was very nice and helpful! read more

This store is garbage. This is my 2nd poor experience and I will not be coming back. This time I ordered boxes and tape for pickup. It said it was in stock, but it was taking too long to fulfill my order (fine, understandable) so I canceled it. I go in to get them myself because it says they are in stock on aisle 39 bay 4. When i arrive there are no carts, it is near closing time and the store is pretty dead. I had to ask an employee for a cart because I had my infant with me. When I get to aisle 39 lo and behold there is ZERO of what I needed. Literally wasted hours waiting on an online order and also coming into the store for them to not even have what I needed. I'm in Lowes right now, literally sitting on the concrete floor at the Wood Cutting area because I can't get assistance regardless of multiple calls over the speaker as well as an associate knowing we needed the job done (we spoke to him in the aisle and said what we needed and paid for the lumber first). I'm disabled. I can't stand this long or be on my feet this long. So it's hard for me to wait as long as this Lowes requires. Last time I was here I needed keys and gave up after over 20min (yup I counted). I ended up doing the kiosk instead and just buying a generic key instead of the Mickey key blank that I really wanted. I wanted about 5 keys all using the higher priced blanks but I couldn't get any of them. Most of the staff here is not helpful or friendly. They walk passed you with no greeting or offering of assistance. They block your way when you're trying to pass with heavy loads and don't even turn to check on you even when speaking. It's so odd. When you ask for an item that you've spent a bit of time searching for they don't seem clear or have a device on them to help look it up for you. They somewhat point to a general location, which is not helpful. This place just pains me to shop at. I see why the reviews are so bad. I have had two nice experiences since shopping here, once by Max, the Cashier, and then once by Tim J. in wood cutting area. He went above and beyond for me. So grateful for that. Also we got what we were looking for on sale! Lowe's absolutely needs more employees like her! The absolute worst service I've ever seen. I was sent to to four different places looking for a replacement Kobalt (Lowe's store brand) battery. I finally found somebody who said they had three in the store, but she was unable to log on to find out where it was located. I told her I would go up to customer service, and the guy there had the worst attitude. I asked him where the batteries were, and his response was that they may be in another store and that he couldn't tell. I told him I had the previous rechargeable battery and it only been used a few times, but it was dead. I asked him how long the battery should last. he responded sarcastically, "I don't know, one month, five years." I had just picked up a weed blower that I had ordered. I told him if he couldn't tell me how good the batteries were then I would just get my money back on the weed blower. He just shrugged his shoulders. So I got my money back. It really was the worst retail experience I've ever had. I live less than 2 miles from the store, I will now drive 10 miles further to go to Home Depot. read more

Ordered cabinets from these idiots. Had 3 hour plus meetings with their "kitchen designer " to make sure all measurements were good. So called "kitchen designer " spent more time pushing the lowes credit card and printing reams of paper that she kept mixing up. Turns out 2 cabinets that were delivered today are WRONG. 4-6 more weeks to wait with huge boxes taking up my family room. These guys are incompetent. Do NOT work with them Finally got the correct cabinets. The next step was to try and contact the installer. Took forever. He forgot to bring the enough trim with him to finish installing the flimsy cabinets. He claimed he would order them and expected us to install them. 2 weeks later no trim. My husband calls this lowes repeatedly to ask about it. He finally speaks to Penny who says she will "look into" the situation and call him back. Of course she does not. He tries to call her and is unable to contact her. My husband is so frustrated with these idiits that he shows up at this Lowes and finally gets his trim from Penny. Penny doesnt find it necessary to apologize for not returning his phone call. Do not buy cabinets or work with these people. They are incompetent and their product is cheap. read more

I purchased lighting supplies at lowes.com totaling $1100. These items were to be available for pickup at the Lacey store. When I arrived at the store I was informed that some items were at the Lacey store, some were not in stock and some were placed in a locker at the Olympia store. Rather than driving to the Olympia store we asked to check stock in Lacey store. Items were in stock. We were told that we had to cancel the items in the locker at the Olympia store so we called Olympia store and spent 30 minutes and discussion with a manager to cancel those items. Looking at my credit card transactions, I have 11 transactions totaling $3000. Three of these are negative/refunds. I am hopeful all this will be sorted out. My recommendation is to be very careful when you order online with lowes.com. Maybe use it to get your shopping list, but go to the store. Or go to Home Depot. read more

Profiling Customers, Negative -Star: I have two unfortunate encounters with this particular Lowes manager. I went to Lowes on Corporate Ln. in Lacey for some wood items causally walking through the store to fill out my punch list of items to purchase. As I made my way to the register, I see a very tall man & woman rush to the adjacent register on my left as I was walking up to purchase my items. He didn't say anything, I saw him looking in my direction as if something behind me was his focus. I didn't think twice about it. I paid for my items and disregarded the unusual rush to the door and piercing glares by the Lowes manager. Today 7-14-24, about 6pm. I went in to buy paint. Had a custom color mixed and picked up some other items. I pick up my mixed paint from the paint counter and headed towards the registers at the front of the store. As I walked slowly to the register, I see the same pair manager and employee (twiddle dee & twiddle dumber) whisk past me from the return desk, in a rush to the registers as I make my way there. They are positioned, standing in wait after rushing to the registers just to stand in front of the candy section next to the adjacent register where I'm standing. It was so obvious that they were not interested in the candy section. They didn't discuss anything, pick up an item or move a tag. What could be such an emergency that they had to almost run to the candy section at that register? Nothing, they wanted to be positioned if I were to run out the door. I methodically scanned each item, and at the midpoint of scanning (twiddle dee manager) moved away and (twiddle dumber employee) moved away after I clearly purchased my items. It Happened Twice: Just so I am clear I disregarded the first incident about 6 weeks ago, and never thought about it again. However, this exact same scenario happened again today on 7-14-24! It's a shame that this kind of treatment still happens, in 2024. Racial profiling is alive and well at this Lacey Lowes! They like to profile Hispanics at the Lacey Lowes on Corporate Ln. I'm 55 and not running anywhere, much less out a door with a $24.00/gallon of paint my total was just $35.00. This much attention for $35.00, is just mind blowing. I urge everyone that experiences this awful behavior to post their experiences. I plan on submitting a complaint to their corporate office! My dishwasher died on thanksgiving day. By the following day (yikes, just realized its Black Friday) I had a new one picked out that was supposedly in stock. after all, the internet is NEVER wrong. I showed up found the one I was most interested in, liked what I saw and finally had someone come over to ask if I needed help. I wish I knew the guy's name that helped me because he seriously dealt with me for over an hour. this man was willing to pull the item numbers in stock so I could get something close to what I was after. With his efforts I was on my way with a new dishwasher. his efforts and willingness to help should get 5 stars. it don't get much better than what he did this day. On 12/30/23 I bought a garbage disposal to replace my garbage disposal that had stopped working. I asked to include the installation. The disposal arrived after a week and I was scheduled for installation...and they didn't show up. I was rescheduled, and rescheduled and rescheduled - 5 times before they wrote on 1/26 to tell me that they didn't offer the installation service in my area. Very fast, knowledgeable, and friendly service. I recently bought a barbeque at Lowe's. They have one guy there whom they claim knows about barbeques. He's busy, and can't be bothered. After picking one out, they had some girl unlock it. Didn't even wipe the dust off. When they tried to put it in the van, they tore the lining off the back door interior. Not even a "sorry". The girl gave up, because she didn't know how to use a screwdriver. She ran inside, and about 20 minutes later, a guy comes out, and says he doesn't have a screwdriver with a cross thingy on the top. I would say 1 star since no one came to help me in the paint section for a straight 30 minutes after I'm looking for someone... but, your man at the main customer service counter, (I know his name started with an A but I forget his full name unfortunately, had a veteran vest on and braids), took the lead and helped me out w out even being experienced in mixing paint and he did a PHENOMENAL job. Seems every time I have to deal with this location with an order something goes wrong. This last time here I ordered a dryer to match my washing machine that I bought from them several months ago. The day before the scheduled delivery date they said they would have to change it and move it out another four days. I told them I'll come and pick it up myself in the morning and I just had better find it there and available. I had special ordered a Yard trimmer from them months ago and was notified it had come in. And I went to pick it up they had me standing around for 45 minutes and finally I had to leave. Ask that the manager give me a call. He called and told me that they had received it and sold it to another customer. And by the way there are no more available within the system. I have spent $10000+ there in the last 3 months remodeling and have never had a problem until recently. I recently purchased a washer and dryer, bought the pedistals to go with it. Upon installation the washer would shake so violently, it ended up putting a hole in my wall. I took video of this and showed them. They said because I didn't have a receipt, that they wouldn't accept the return, even though they could clearly see it on their computer screen. After some one way conversation, and getting the store manager involved, they accepted them for a return, but would only give me store credit and not put it back on my card. Save your self some heartache and shop at Home Depot. They are way more friendly and professional. read more

I really didn't mind Lowe's but they recently changed their military discount where they are making Active Duty and Retirees "register" to use the discount. The cashier couldn't explain to me why this policy changed. Their website says they use a third party to verify eligibility - as if the military ID card issued by the ON-POST ID CARD OFFICE - isn't good enough. I mean, you can get on a military base with that ID card but you can't get your 10% discount on that hammer with it... LOL.... Don't get me wrong, I appreciate any business that offers a military discount (I am not a vet but my husband is an Army retiree) but all the "warm and fuzzies" disappear when you require them to jump through hoops to get the discount. FYI: Home Depot does not make you "register" to get a military discount. read more

I ordered 3 plastic ornament containers--essentially 3 plastic bins with 2 levels of cardboard ornament dividers. I received 3 plastic bins with no dividers. Useless. I called Lowe's "customer service" and was told the only thing they can do is give me a 15% "discount" $9 whole dollars. I now have 3 plastic bins I don't need and can't use for their original purpose. I waited 20 minutes for a person who basically told me my options were to go to my "local" Lowe's (which is 75 miles away) or take the discount. I will NEVER shop there again. read more

They sold us a dishwasher and were to install a week later. The install company were to be there between 2-6. The man did call to say they would be 30 minutes behind however They did not even get to our home until 7:30pm. They showed up in an unmarked pickup pulling a uhaul truck. Nearly backed into our gate twice . When confronted the installer became defensive and rude claiming they do this all the time. He was jumping around his speech was barely understandable like that of a person high and not quit capable of reasonable conversation. Who delivers and installs dishwashers until 10pm at night. No one in the store or with the install company said anything about graveyard installs. This is how LOWES treats handicapped customers who pay.them for a service.
