I had to take an item back and also pick up an item. When I walked in there was about 4 people a head of me and I thought this is going to take forever. They were so courteous and friendly. This store has changed policy to screw the customer. The store stuck me with hundreds of dollars worth of leveling cement and told me to throw it away if I didn't need it. They refused to give a store credit for items customer service hung up and on me when I called to make about the matter. I was recommended by an employee's to shop at Home Depot. I was a the Hammond Lowe's store today at 01:45 pm to purchase a screen door for my home. After I picked out the door I wanted for about $150.00, I needed help to remove it from the rack so I could be on my way. There was one employee in the department, and when I approached him he told me that this was not his department and to press the help button at the desk and someone would come. The desk had a sign which read, "Press Button for Help", but there was no button! After looking around for 5 minutes or so to find someone to help me (purchase a product from them!), I finally called the store from my cell phone and got the operator to page someone for me which of course I heard over the intercom. Nobody ever showed after I waited for 15 minutes. I left the store without saying anything and went back home, which is about 35 miles away. Their operation and customer service is absolutely deplorable. I hear that a Home Depot is scheduled to be built in Hammond. One would think that Lowes would provide much better customer help with such a competitor on their "doorstep". Also as an additional note, the department for doors was in a very cluttered condition, and looked to be in a neglected state. Just my guess is that it's understaffed. My cashier was very friendly and helpful. Everytime iCome in she's always friendly. She's the one in the lumber section ( short light skin chocolate lady ) .. however. Mr. Clyn ( tall vanilla man ).. ok. First of all.. I'm building a house, so I'm always back and forth from lowes and always spending over $200 each time iWalk in the building... and sometimes iCome with my older father ( in his late 60's ) so the workers would load up the truck .. with no problem. But Clyn rolled out my (( 45 )) 2x4x8's and left before stopping to breath ! This was after iWalked up to him while he was getting the (( 45 )) 2x4x8's and asked him can he not load up the destroyed ones. Which he replied " they're all rough , it's a rough cut batch " which was a lie. literally there's lots of 2x4x8's clean cut. He just didn't feel like picking through. And iFeel if I'm coming in this building spending almost 300 of my dollars the very least iShould get is someone to load it up and switch out roughy cut wood if iAsk them too! This Lowes usually have good customer service. But he messed that reputation up.. read more

Went today (11/7) for paint. The guy with the Diamond earrings completely ignored me. I stood there for 10 minutes at least. I thought I was in the Patrick Swayze movie "Ghost." Like I was dead but I didn't know it. Dude was literally looking right through me and the other person waiting for service. I finally said "yea good luck, I'm heading to Home Depot" to the other guest as I sat my paint and swath on a nearby bucket and walked out. This location of Lowe's is pretty much a cookie cutter of other locations. If you have ever walked into another Lowe's, then you will see the same layout as far as where the departments are located. I had a couple of questions about where some item on my list were located and the three employees I asked were very helpful. They brought me straight to the products instead of just telling me where to go. Pricing is pretty much in line with Home Depot. Since there is no Home Depot currently in Hammond, Lowe's is your only choice for a big box building supply. I would recommend that your shopping early if you venture out on the weekends. Later in the day the crowds get thick. Check their website before making a large purchase. They may be offering special financing using the Lowe's credit card. read more

If I could give them a negative number I would. Worst companies ever to deal with contract work. The agent Keely Cassidy had no idea what she was doing and was not good on calling with updates. 95% of the time I had to call the 800 number to get in touch with her to see what was going on. And when she calls back which is always a few minutes after I hang up with a Lowe's rep. Once I finished dealing with her and her unprofessionalism, I had to deal with Lowes and not delivering my materials or giving me a heads up the day before confirming the delivery date and time which is what they are suppose to do according to their rep who calls in advance letting me know what the Hammond Lowes is going/suppose to do. The work has not been done yet so hopefully my next review will be better than this one. We will seen. read more

You don't want to use the lowes in Hammond. I purchased over $400 in products and was made to wait an hour to get help loading up materials on a pallet. Couldn't get the help needed and then was told if we wanted the pallet with materials on it they would charge us another $15 just for a pallet in which we could return for our money back. The services and communication was less than poor. As a paying customer I am refusing to shop or spend any of my hard earned money with this location ever again. None of this was disclosed upon the purchase and after loading the blocks individually on a pallet. Don't waste your time when you can't get great customer service. I placed an order online and the only Lowes that had the item, according to the Lowes website, was 40 miles from my house. When I got off work I had received an email saying my order was ready for pickup. An hour later I am at the service desk only to be told the item was not at the service desk ready to be picked up. The department it was to come from would not answer the calls from customer service person trying to get answers. Finally she told me that if I wanted I could get it myself. I wasn't completely thrilled with this idea as I am a few weeks out for two total knee replacements and I walk with significant pain but I figured it was going to be my only chance. As I walked to the garden department and asked a young man if he could find it and bring it I was told "we're really busy right now" I just stared at him so he said " I am loading something for this woman then I will come help you". I asked where the gates were so I could start looking. He told me. I looked through the 20+/- gates and didn't see what I ordered. It had been over 15 mins and the young man never came. I hobbled back to the service desk and got a refund. Website said they had 5 of them. read more

Once again the cashiers are scarce. The registers are broken. People waiting in line at self checkout that doesn't work. Only two people working near the registers and they can't get the computer to cooperate. I attempted to check out my purchase, a rug scanned in at $10,000. I had some ceramic tile trim that was .97 each on the shelf and they rang up as 11.90 each. No managers or supervisors to be found, just lots of angry customers. advertised 4 jeld wen windows for $107, drove over 100 miles to get there, arrived, looked for the windows and couldn't find them, then spoke with the associate that worked that section, he looked for the windows in the same places i did, could not find them and stated they did not have them and i could special order them. i then went to customer service and requested to speak with a manager, she called over the intercom 3 times, no one came. finally after waiting over 30 minutes, i decided to go elsewhere. due to false advertising, poor/no customer service, etc. i dont recommend this store to anyone. read more

Lowe's has installed self check out lanes at this location and frequently has the manned check out lines closed. I personally always choose a cashier over self check out and will no longer shop here if I see there are no employee operated lines open when or if i enter the store. read more

I want to compliment one of Lowe's in Hammond, LA employees, Jason in Lumber. It was late Friday evening and in need of glass to be cut for a window. Jason went to great lengths to help me . He was fantastic and answered all my "stupid" questions. Not only was Jason polite he was also very professional in how he dealt with me. I am not only satisfied, but very happy with the service that was provided to me and look forward to shopping at Lowe's in Hammond again. Last weekend I walked into Lowes to look at purchasing some prefabricated plastic fencing panels and posts. The sticker on the outdoor display of fencing shows they offer installation of the equipment. So I wandered over to the pro-services desk and spoke to a guy named Junior. He informed me that they would have to send out an estimator. I said its a small job 20 ft and can I just get a estimate. He said no, it would required a estimate by an a professional Lowes installer. I explained the site had already the short 3 ft picket fence (PVC type) on concrete around my AC units and wanted to go to the 6 ft type with lattice top. He said it still requires an estimator. He even showed me the new concrete anchor mounts they would use with the metal riser so the 4x4 does not sit in water, and covered by the PVC post. So I relented and said, sure lets have a guy come out and give me a bid. He requested help from one of the cashier's to schedule the appointment in there computer system. After providing lots of my personal details, it was confirmed a Steve was to come to my house on Thursday @ 10 am to give me a proposal. Steve called that morning to confirm and say he can even come 30 min early. Great I said. So far so good... Steve shows up on time, then walks 30 ft from his truck to my fence site and says "we can't do it!" My only response was WHAAAAT? He says Lowes does not do work on concrete.... So imagine my surprise, I waited almost a week for a "professional" installer to show up at my house on a day I took off to meet the schedule, only to be told, "Lowes does not do fence work on concrete". I said that your own Lowes pro desk guy Junior even showed me the brackets!! He said he was wrong and they don't do work on concrete. WTF. So I told the guy to leave, and I would contact the store and report my frustration about him and Junior. He said Junior is not a smart guy and should have not scheduled this appointment knowing it was on concrete. I don't know about you all in the industry but putting up prefabricated posts on pre manufacture concrete metal brackets is not difficult and why these parts are made in the first place. If they only want to install hardware on soft dirt in a groomed yard they should state that up front. So I called the Hammond store to speak to the manager Mr. Frank Heigle. Was told he is off today, Go figure. So I asked to speak to the district Manager who they said was Greg but no last name. But getting Greg's whole name was not easy. I called the 1-800-44-Lowes to be screened and given the district office number of 281-465-4711. The gate keeper there wanted to know all the details and would pass on my info and would not give out the district manager number, but hey I got the last name. So I called back the 44-Lowes number and tried again for Greg's contact info. This time speaking to Monica (no last name because of security reasons), they can't give out the name or number.... Wow you think management would want to hear from there customers. So back to the store I go and get the name finally of Greg Rutherford and his phone number of 225-450-7894. I will be calling him shortly but started this email before and wanted to post it. I do hope Greg has some listening skills and help me understand how Lowes offers installation, with a estimate but not on concrete..... Update 4/20/14 Well here is the follow up.   Mr. Greg Rutherford says; "the field installer is correct, we don't to fence work on concrete, because there agreement with the contractors prevents it".   The failure in communication started with the senior sales person at the "pro desk".   So much for being Pro.   According to Greg, the counter guy should have known this, and not wasted everyone's time.   Greg thanked me for my call and apologized for the wasted time.    Well I guess I will have a Happy Easter shopping at Home Depot this weekend.   I pray to the almighty that Home Depot gets a store in Hammond LA and give the Pros' at Lowes a run for their money. read more
