I did, anyway. So it's wonderful to see two familiar faces when I go to Hometown Hardware. This store is smaller than St. Paul Builders, but Steve and Jerry are quick to order anything you need. I wanted some DAP plaster-of-Paris powder, and it was waiting for me the next time I went in--and at a good price. Steve and Jerry are professional, accommodating, and also very nice and friendly. I predict that Hometown Hardware will become as much a local institution as St. Paul Builders was. And I very much appreciate that I don't have to drive a long way just to pick up hardware and supplies. The location in downtown St. Paul is extremely convenient.

It is one of the larger Aces I have been to and everything is very spread out and open. They do make keys there and their system is different from the other major chains so if you are having a tough time getting a copy they might can help you out. This business seems to have some major pet peeve about cell phones as their were 2 NO cell phone signs posted on the front door and then another one posted at the register. Looks like they had a bad batch of customers on their phone and could not get over it haha. I ordered 21 five-gallon buckets of hydraulic fluid at the front desk and was told to head to the back for pickup. After waiting 45 minutes, I went inside to check on the delay, only to wait another 25 minutes in the back--and then was handed the completely wrong item. I totally understand that things can get hectic and mistakes happen, but when you're spending nearly $1,000 on just one type of product, you'd expect the process to be smoother. If you're planning to purchase a large quantity of anything here, I highly recommend calling ahead--maybe even twice--to confirm two things: that they have the right item and that it'll be ready when you arrive instead of doing it in person like I did... Had to come back to edit this AFTER we left. Proceeded to wait 20 extra minutes just to receive the right ones for them to "wrap them up properly".. HA THEY DID NOT. Not even close. We didn't even pull on the road before they all but 6 decided to fall over and break open. I hate to say it but I will absolutely not be buying anything from here again
