They will quote you a $159 diagnostic fee and tell you it won't be charged if you choose to have the repair done. Sounds fair right? Our technician shows up, looks at our range, and never once tells us what's wrong, what the fix is, or what it costs. He just grabs a wire brush and starts scrubbing. No question. No estimate. No approval. By the time I could say "wait, what's this going to cost," the work was already being done. Then the bill: $280!! For cleaning igniters with a wire brush!!!!! Apparently the $159 fee was "waived" so they could charge me $280 for something I never asked for. That's not a favor. That's making a customer pay more for the privilege of not being consulted. The technician should have said, "I think if this buildup is removed, it will help; this is how much it will be." So I called the manager, figuring any reasonable business would hear "I never approved this" and respond like adults. Nope. She would not listen to reason. She would not negotiate. She would not even knock off a few dollars as a gesture of good faith. Not one dollar. I was completely dismissed. That tells me everything about where customer service ranks at this company: dead last. Any business with a shred of pride would have said, "We should have asked first. Let us fix this." Instead I got a brush-off to match the wire brush. $280 for cleaning igniters with a brush is a rip off, plain and simple. Any appliance company that charges that much for a few minutes of work should be embarrassed.
