The Lower Lode is your typical rural English pub. Customers with dogs. An adjoining caravan and campsite. Picnic tables and Basset Hounds. Yup typical rural English pub.
They served Stowford Press cider, which pleased us immensely.
Food was ordered and paid for at the bar. Considering there was nine of us, the food came quite promptly to us outside. I had the fish and chips, which was fine. My husbands dish of liver was not great. The liver was over cooked and very tough.
While the ladies were relatively clean, the stink from the men's was rank and I could get the bang from it while going into the ladies. I always worry about a business that serves food and can't keep their toilets from smelling of stale pee. Ugh.
But I would return for a drink and the view - the setting is too gorgeous. read more
