Dr. McDermott is an excellent, experienced and caring podiatrist. This review is NOT about her care it is about a member of her office staff that apparently has never learned basic politeness. This member of staff called my husband on the day of his appointment to tell him that his appointment was cancelled because Dr. McDermott was unavailable. The staff member gave him an appointment for the next day. Unfortunately, my husband is deaf and has trouble hearing on the phone; therefore, I called the office to determine when the appointment was scheduled for - unfortunately, it conflicted with another doctor's appointment. When I asked the staff member to re-schedule she said: "we don't have anything." I said, couldn't you look for another date, you called him the day of the appointment to cancel. In addition, please put in his record that you need to contact me, I have requested multiple times that you do this because of my husband's deafness. Staff member's response (in a nasty tone of voice): "Well, we called him." She finally gave him another appointment the following week. I said: I am the customer and I am asking you now to put into his medical record that I need to be contacted regarding his appointments. Staff member's response: " I told you we called him. Have a nice day." and she hung up. This staff member is not a professional healthcare provider and so I would not expect professionalism from her, but what I would expect is basic common courtesy. read more
