After banging my foot while moving a few months ago, I noticed one toenail about to fall off about…read more6 weeks ago and thought "this is going to be ugly". I searched online for some sort of temporary nail since it will also be pedicure season soon, and such a thing actually DOES exist: the Keryflex nail restoration (look it up, there is a cool video on the company's website). My nail eventually fell off, and while it isn't pretty, it is fortunately on a small toe and only half the nail. But then I started thinking that if dermatologists have medical facials, do podiatrists have medical pedicures? Yes, they do and you can get one right here with Dr. Thompson! I take good care of my feet, try to use good moisturizers throughout the winter and scrub those calluses while in the shower, but I decided I needed professional help and wanted a professional to verify that my half-nail looked "OK". Dr. Thompson has online booking, but I sent a message through the website first as I wasn't sure if a new patient needed to do anything first before booking? She replied back in about 15 minutes (on a weekend!) so I booked online for a few days later. I live in Boston, but in the middle of a weekday it was a really quick drive and her office is right off Route 3. I had so many questions, and how often do you find yourself sitting with a podiatrist who is a wealth of info?? Final Result: my feet are SO SOFT, there is no way that any salon could have tackled my calluses in the same way. She used both a scalpel and a drill (fear not, everyone) and now I have 10 normal looking toes (well, 9.5) and feet so soft it has been decades since they have felt this way. Since I give my feet a break every winter from pedicures and polish, this is definitely what I will do each fall and spring to get my feet back in shape. Fortunately I don't have any other foot issues right now, but if I do I know who to call!!

I have been seeing Dr. Shannon Thompson for longer than I can remember! She is a very caring and…read moretalented Podiatrist. Highly recommend her. Her Office Manager Hannah is very efficient and helpful.

This Dr is dangerous he has no bed side manner and he's milking people with wounds not fixing them…read more I was his patient it started with a bad toe nail on my big toe after my podiatrist took the nail I developed an infection on the tip of my big toe. That was May 3 2018. After a couple of months of my podiatrist treating it I went to the wound center Dr Flynn this guy was suppose to be able to walk on water. I had a lot of fluid retention I could not get rid of and the wound wouldn't heal. After weeks of the Dr attending to the wound he was getting very frustrated with me saying things like I was making him look bad and I wasn't doing what I was told to do ie stay off of it wearing my compression stockings but I was following his instructions. I got so frustrated that I hated going to him it made me sick feeling and all the time all he did was cut the dead skin away and yell at me I felt helpless. He never bothered to see if there was some other reason I was retaining fluids it was all my fault. And every time I left his office I had to pass by a full size cardboard cut out of Dr Flynn full size. Finally in November 6 months after this started I was hospitalized after gaining 48 lbs of fluid I was in the hospital for 7 days on a lasix drip lost the fluid which was caused by some virus I picked up in China and while I was in there I was seen by a fantastic wound care Dr/Podiatrist and he started treating the toe constantly telling me he would fix it. Two weeks after discharge I saw the new wound care Dr and it was decided that he had to unload the toe by snipping the tendon that holds the toe down. Because every time I walked pressure would be put on the tip of the big toe and it would never heal. He assured me I wouldn't notice any change in my walk but the wound would heal so I said why not. Out patient procedure was done a week later and in one week my toe healed I couldn't believe it what a feeling I had and what a Dr very very knowledgeable caring and great bed side manner. I was almost embarrassed to tell him about Dr Flynn but I did and he just shook his head and said it's not rocket science you had to unload the toe so no pressure was on it when you walk and push off. Yes Dr Flynn is dangerous only cares about himself no bed side manner just milking the insurance companies of those that have insurance. If you have a wound that isn't healing especially on your foot or anywhere call Dr. Locke South Shore Wound Care Center Weymouth. Don't keep going to Dr Flynn.
