After the initial consult with Dr. George, he made me feel very comfortable with his knowledge and expertise. Due to the quantity of teeth I was having removed, I was determined to be sedated. Dr. George stated he could do it immediately at the time of the consult, with localized anesthesia, yet my past extraction experiences were precursors to it. I admit, due to his special mix that put me under, I was quite comfortable, and after awakening, fairly clear-headed and not queasy as with past extractions. I highly recommend this practice.

I had a terrible consultation with Dr. Neil Hornung regarding my wisdom teeth. From the start, the…read moreexperience felt dismissive and unprofessional. He began by asking me how I got there -- "by automobile or train" -- then followed with a sarcastic remark about horse and carriage. Obviously, I was there for my wisdom teeth, and his tone immediately felt condescending. Instead of explaining things clearly, he relied on medical jargon and made me watch a generic video that was supposed to "answer all my questions." At the end, he actually quizzed me on what the video said, rather than taking the time to talk through the procedure with me directly. When I expressed that I was scared, he completely ignored me. He just repeated over and over how my risks have gone up because of my age, but gave no real information about anesthesia options, what to expect during surgery, or how recovery would work. At one point, he sat with his back turned to me for over 10 minutes while dictating notes into a device. I don't think I've ever been in an appointment where the doctor completes all of their documentation with me still sitting in the room. At one point, he stuck a probe in my mouth, let go of it so it was hanging there stepped back, and joked about how "see that shouldnt happen, that's the pocket where your tooth is." It felt careless and unprofessional. Overall, there was zero compassion or empathy. I left the appointment feeling shaken, uncared for, and even more anxious than when I arrived. This was not the kind of care or professionalism I would expect from a dental specialist. I would not recommend Dr. Hornung to anyone seeking wisdom teeth removal.

About 6 years after suffering a stroke that left me with very limited, if any, use of my left side, I was/am a current patient at Plaistow Oral Surgery to have a tooth extracted. I was not able , at the time to have a tooth replaced. I returned to have a consultation about putting in bone replacement and a three teeth back in three seperate areas in my mouth. I found Dr. Stiefle to be a very knowledgeable and professional Oral Surgeon. He went , out-of-his-way to explain every single step of the procedure to me & my husband to make sure I understood that my previous extractions healed very well allowing him to be able to perform the bone replacement in the 2 spaces , along with the replacement tooth and that the third space that has already had bone replacement will be able to place another tooth as well. I wasn't sure that I'd be a bike to afford it with all the pending/ overdue Stroke medical expenses, along with my recent diagnosis of Breast Cancer, while still not healed from my stroke, and underwent a full Double Mastectomy. Dr Stiefle and his energetic staff were able to put together a cost projection using my Dental Insurance and out-of-pocket $ that will work for me. They were able to make some adjustments on their end to save me some money and make this affordable- do-able for me based on my circumstances. Ultimately, I whole-heartedly rate Dr Stiefle and Plaistow Oral Surgery true 5- STARS! For once, in my life, I can honestly say that my Dr Stifle and Plaistow Oral Surgery consultation and treatment have been a true pleasure and I am very grateful for them and their integrity and professionalism. The dental assistant told us they are going to do a full mouth x ray. I asked if it was covered by my insurance since we were not sure if we were going to move forward with the procedure. She left and came back and said the consult and the x rays were both covered by my insurance. They quoted a very high amount after the "insurance discounts" that was over $3K. We did not move forward with them. I then received an invoice for $132 for the initial exam that I was told was covered. I called and they said it wasn't. I explained that I specifically asked if it was and was told it was and if it wasn't I wouldn't have had it done. They didn't care. I received another invoice that states if it is not paid, my account will be turned over for collection. This is unethical and I wouldn't trust this office. They billed $435 to our insurance provider, and the dentist saw my son for about 5 minutes and we owe $132. I would not recommend this office to anyone.

I've had the absolute pleasure of completing a total dental restoration project in the care of the…read morewonderful Dr. Paul Mathew and his incredible team at Artisan Dentistry. I don't even know where to begin, but let me tell you--I hadn't pursued dental care since my late teens (I'm now in my mid-50s) due to a crippling dental fear that made me endure pain rather than visit a provider. At my wit's end, I searched for a dental office that could accommodate my phobia. I happened upon Artisan Dentistry and booked my consultation. I was visibly shaking and dizzy (literally!) with fear as I made my way to his practice and chair. (The office is beautifully and calmly decorated, and his staff is wonderfully trained to deal with us "chickens.") Dr. Mathew immediately greeted me warmly and asked me to talk about myself and my history. He has wonderful bedside manner and is quite gregarious--he genuinely enjoys a good chat. We just talked for about half an hour to an hour, and together we decided to take some careful steps forward. I asked about full sedation, and he was completely open to it and any options I wanted to pursue. I could call the shots at any time and switch sedation plans. He gently suggested that I start with a few teeth cleaning sessions using topical anesthetics and Novocain as needed, guaranteeing that I wouldn't feel anything. I went in for my cleanings, and it was exactly as he described--I didn't feel a thing! Here was the turning point: I asked him point-blank, "So I had some Novocain during my cleanings--is that what you would use if we didn't do sedation dentistry?" "Yes," he said, "the same type of pain management for each part of your mouth that I work on." I said, "You know what? Let's try it." That decision changed everything! For all the massive work that was done, I wasn't sedated in any way! Let me tell you, I've had major work done, and his priority was always pain management. Dr. Mathew literally changed my life by showing me "here is what a medical professional can be." Since being under his care, I no longer fear having minor medical procedures done in other doctors' offices. It turns out my epic teeth issues were only symptoms of the real problem: my fear of dentists (and medical professionals), the perceived loss of control, and procedures that were unknown to me. Yes, Dr. Mathew is at the top of his technical dental game--this is obvious (he loves to talk about the many seminars and practicals he still attends and the new things he's learned)--but for me? His ability to help people like me overcome life-long fear-based obstacles. He removed (extracted, lol?) my fundamental fear. I can't say it any clearer than that. He has done nothing short of changing my life. Oh, and as for my new dental work? The best compliment I get is how nice my teeth look and that I must be hawkish about brushing. They look completely natural, which has changed my face and definitely my smile. And as for being hawkish about brushing? Ha--well, I am now! Thank you, Dr. Mathew and Jaime. You have a friend for life. With all my love and gratitude--CK
