I had a terrible consultation with Dr. Neil Hornung regarding my wisdom teeth. From the start, the…read moreexperience felt dismissive and unprofessional. He began by asking me how I got there -- "by automobile or train" -- then followed with a sarcastic remark about horse and carriage. Obviously, I was there for my wisdom teeth, and his tone immediately felt condescending. Instead of explaining things clearly, he relied on medical jargon and made me watch a generic video that was supposed to "answer all my questions." At the end, he actually quizzed me on what the video said, rather than taking the time to talk through the procedure with me directly. When I expressed that I was scared, he completely ignored me. He just repeated over and over how my risks have gone up because of my age, but gave no real information about anesthesia options, what to expect during surgery, or how recovery would work. At one point, he sat with his back turned to me for over 10 minutes while dictating notes into a device. I don't think I've ever been in an appointment where the doctor completes all of their documentation with me still sitting in the room. At one point, he stuck a probe in my mouth, let go of it so it was hanging there stepped back, and joked about how "see that shouldnt happen, that's the pocket where your tooth is." It felt careless and unprofessional. Overall, there was zero compassion or empathy. I left the appointment feeling shaken, uncared for, and even more anxious than when I arrived. This was not the kind of care or professionalism I would expect from a dental specialist. I would not recommend Dr. Hornung to anyone seeking wisdom teeth removal.

I recently had an emergency situation that required treatment from New England Oral Surgery…read more Feeling very fearful and stressed, from the minute I entered at the front desk until I was discharged, I was treated with kindness and compassion. Dr. Vellis and his assistant Toby explained everything they were doing and Kate, the office manager made sure all my needs were met. Without exception, everyone went above and beyond. I highly recommend NEOS should you need their services. Joanne Nelson

Where to begin? The billing office is incompetent: when they initially completed the cost estimate,…read morethey informed me that I had both Medical and Dental coverage through one of my carriers, which was incorrect. They *insisted* that they were right and I was wrong, and no matter how much I tried to argue, they would not budge. Turns out, they were wrong, and I did not have medical coverage through my dental carrier. Two months after the procedure, after paying everything I was told to pay, I received a bill for over $1000. Upon inspection of the charges, after insurance payments were made, additional "adjustments" (charges) were added 5 weeks after the procedure. I am waiting for them to explain how their estimate was off by $1000, having sent multiple emails and left multiple voicemails. We were able to schedule the procedure for a short time after the initial consultation, which was nice. HOWEVER, 5 days before the appointment, I received a text to confirm my appointment for a different time than I had scheduled. When I called, they said that they had needed to move my appointment; first they said it was because they didn't have staff available, and when I kept pushing, they said that another patient needed that time more than I did. I asked why I hadn't been called to ask if I could take a later time or actually notified that my time had been changed; they said the text *was* my notification of the change. They grudgingly restored my appointment time, but not after making passive-aggressive comments about how they hoped i was okay with taking the time from someone who needed it more than I did. There seems to be a lack of professionalism in the scheduling department and practices in billing could be described as shady. I would go anywhere else.

I wish I could leave less than one star. This practice says they guarantee their implants, but they…read moredon't. I had an implant in 2020 and it looked great at first until I eneded up with an abcess. Dr Chua did the implant, Dr Dowd did a surgery to clean up under the gum tissue of the implant. The problem was due to leaving cotton in the implant core, which led to the abcess. Dr.Dowd tried to resolve the issue, but never did a bone graft during the second surgery. It left my gum bruised looking and food could enter up underneath the gum tissue. I returned once again for help and Dr. Morgan denied cotton had been left, which makes no sense because his colleague did a surgery due to this problem?? He was rude and pulled periodontal floss under the gum causing it to bleed. I'm on blood thinners and have had two open heart surgeries! I just went to another oral surgeon who said there was substantial bone and gum tissue lost costing me another surgery and time off from work. Hopefully, it works or I will need another implant thanks to their negligence.

I would like to compliment and recommend Dr. Claris Chuah and her staff at Concord and Lexington…read moreOral Surgery Associates for their excellent care in extracting two of my teeth on January 17th, 2024. The office staff and dental associates were very welcoming, professional and caring. Dr. Chuah and Jill, her friendly dental associate, went out of their way to explain the procedure each step of the way and solicit questions. Once my surgery was underway, they were very good about checking in with me to confirm that I was doing okay. Even when Dr. Chuah encountered an unexpected challenge involving a wisdom tooth adjacent to my troublesome molar, she made me feel very much at ease by explaining what had occurred, how she was going to deal with it and then expertly addressing the issue in a most satisfactory way. Specifically, she ended up extracting both my impacted molar and wisdom tooth while maintaining my comfort throughout the procedure. Following my surgery, Dr. Chuah was very helpful in explaining what I needed to do in terms of follow-up and in answering a few questions that I had. Further, I was most impressed that, on the day following my surgery, Dr. Chuah called me herself, just to confirm that I was making a good recovery. In addition to being an excellent surgeon, Dr. Chuah clearly understands just how important clear and frequent communication is in facilitating a good patient experience. This is especially so with respect to oral surgery, which is an inherently stressful and uncertain procedure for most patients. If you need oral surgery, I would strongly encourage you to consider choosing Dr. Chuah and her team. Finally, I am most grateful to be living in an age and place where skilled doctors have the knowledge and resources to remedy so many of our medical problems. What George Washington would have given if he could have traveled through time and had Dr. Chuah address his many debilitating dental woes! Jay L.
