Lunch with my wife and two granddaughters. We got there right as they were opening. My wife had a cheeseburger which was good. I had a Brisket sandwich and the girls had Mac & Cheese. The Brisket and Mac & Cheese all looked and tasted like they were warmed up leftovers from yesterday. The fries although edible were burned. However the service was excellent and watching planes take off and land Is outstanding and made up for some of the shortcomings.

Over 55? They have a great senior discount and volunteered it. Friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant is on the third floor overlooking the runway. Warmer weather would allow outside dining with spectacular views. You could go just for cocktails. Full service bar. There's a regular menu and the choice of a buffet at lunch and dinner. On Fridays, fried shrimp is on the buffet, along with pulled pork, fried and baked chicken, delicious ribs, corn, green beans, collards, hush puppies, and great mac and cheese. There is also a cold bar--salad bar and banana pudding. That a hot peach cobbler were yummy dessert choices. We will return when the days are longer and we can see the runway better.

We had a great experience with our one year old for his birthday. The restaurant is at a small airport and you can watch small planes take off and land. That novelty and fun location is part of what you pay for. Given the location I thought the food was much better than it needed to be for the price. Meals are about $17-19. We did the buffet. The pulled pork was very good texture, lightly smoked I think with a fruit wood, very very nice. The baby loved the hush puppies as much as I did. Me wife got a hamburger steak which she loved. The collard greens were just like my mom would make. The food is simple and maybe understated but very well executed. The service was great, friendly and prompt. They have child seats and are very child friendly. They have a full bar, with a nice selection of beers.

The general setting of this restaurant w/ the option of outdoor seating makes visiting this location well worth it! I usually avoid buffets as I tend to overdo it and make myself miserable while trying to cram everything in sight that looks appetizingly pleasing, but I figure; visit a new spot and like everything else worth enjoying; consume in moderation to avoid mishap! My date and I went in to enjoy the buffet on a Tuesday evening in which they had tacos as the hightlight dish! We both had the Mac n cheese, ribs, peach cobbler, baked beans! The ribs and peach cobbler were my favorites thus far! We ordered a Mimosa flight, a Top gun, Corona and water to rinse it all down! This was the 1st visit but definitely not the last as Wednesday(wings) and Saturday(steak) will be my next target days to fill my gullet! We also got a free showing of the youth JROTC cadets that are set to be next up. My suggestions for the business is to cut at least half of that cheese out of the macaroni as I could only obtain gobs of cheese with limited macaroni noodles and all that cheese tends to blow a stomach to pieces! I would also like to have the option to enjoy a cigar while sipping my cognac and watching planes take off and land on a beautiful sunny day! We ended up paying $110 including tax & tip for this occasion!

Amazing food and service!!! The hostess' and our server were so kind and attentive. There's a wait if you sit outside (on a weekend 5pm) but it was worth it because we loved the view and they had a good amount of outside seating. We chose to get menus instead of the buffet and the pulled pork sandwich was so good and a really good size. The fries were seasoned so well!! I wish the brisket sandwich was bigger but it was good nonetheless and the hush puppies were very good.

First time visiting and what a cool restaurant! Enjoy some delicious bbq while watching planes land and take off at the airport! Came on a weekday during lunch and it wasn't too crowded. Reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because our server forgot about us for a few minutes after we were ready to order and had to flag them down to put our order in. They were apologetic and realized they had forgotten and quickly put our food in so won't hold it against them. Other than that I had a great experience. If you are ever in the area definitely swing by and check out the views of the runway and grab a bite to eat.

This is what we received. Look at the portion size of the So Called Whole chicken.

The service was great but the menu was very misleading, I ordered a Whole chicken for me and my wife to split and what did we get for $24.55, We got hushpuppies, fries and cornbread as sides from their Buffet which was slightly warm and the whole chicken was only two legs with thighs attached one MUCH SMALLER than the other, When I ask the server where the whole chicken was she immediately ask me if I wished to speak with the manager which was a RED FLAG right off because apparently they've had this question ask many times before so I declined to speak to a manager, The only good thing about the dinning experience was watching the airplanes' take off and land, I feel we got ripped off and I do not recommend this restaurant.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It's really disappointing coming to a place to have a nice meal and discover how bad food can be. This place serves the food cold and with a funky taste. We never saw the waitress after he got our order until it was time to pay. Don't waste your time and your money.

I visited Low and Slow Smokehouse recently after taking a long break because of food quality and staff inconsistency. This place is very close by and I love airplanes, so I was really pulling for this place to be better. Well my wish was granted; and then some!! They now have a buffet with lots of options. Salad bar, pulled pork, fried chicken, sausage, ribs, collards, Mac and cheese, cornbread, and peach cobbler! I'm sure I missed some, but there are options galore. Everything was hot and prepared very nicely. They even have a full bar and my margarita was delish! The staff was very pleasant and treated us like family, even when we asked to sit outside and then changed our minds because it was very windy. Our server was attentive despite the place having numerous large parties. I'm very happy to see things have changed for the better here. I get the best of both worlds; fine smoked meats and airplanes! I'll be more of a regular going forward!

My daughter and I came in for a quick dinner. I was still working. We order tacos, chicken strips and fries. The food was delicious. The staff was courteous and answered all of our questions. This was our first time visiting and we will definitely come back. I also had the house margarita, not strong but it was their $3 special.

Airport barbecue - what a fascinating concept with so much potential! The atmosphere at this unique spot is truly exceptional - a perfect 10/10 that immediately draws you in with its eclectic vibe. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ends. The lunch buffet, while appearing fresh, left much to be desired. The salad bar was disappointingly sparse, and the wings were both dried out and served at an unappetizing lukewarm temperature. The pulled pork had an unpleasant "barnyard" aroma and flavor that was off-putting, while the chicken was drowning in excessive sauce that couldn't hide its mediocrity. The ribs were the lone bright spot - actually quite enjoyable and showing what this kitchen might be capable of with more attention to detail. The friendly staff and remarkable atmosphere simply couldn't compensate for the subpar food quality. If you're craving genuine, quality barbecue on the western side of the state, I'd strongly recommend heading to JD's in Rutherford College instead - a place that truly understands how barbecue should be done. Despite the inviting setting, the food quality simply doesn't warrant a return visit. to those about to nosh, head elsewhere! You've been warned.

One of our favorites. You get what you pay for, good food and service. Plus you get to watch planes taking off and landing.

It was much better before they started doing the buffet. The buffet is not replenished often enough and brisket isn't included on the buffet

Excellent brisket. Great place to bring kids and watch the runway. Also cheaper per pound than many other options.

I was driving around town after visiting the University (which one, i can't recall) and wanted some local bar b que. I'm a yankee so NC barbeque is a bit different for me. I've tried the mustard-base and the vinegar-base and they do offer a vacation from the usual tomato-base/molasses based barbeque Stuff was fall off the bone and definitely worth the trip

A true southern gem. My husband and I have a motto "if they serve it on styrofoam plates, it's…read moregonna be good" and once again we were not disappointed. It's a small business and most people ordered to go. Very few tables and parking. We walked in as a party of 4 and they didn't have seating, but we were waved over by a local to share his table and gladly took him up on his offer. Come to find out he was a local columnist and seems to be known very well by the community. We had great conversation, over a great meal. The owner came out and chatted with us for a little. It's been family owned since 1930! Everyone we encountered was very friendly. Including the local sheriff who was the cashier. We were greeted by a friendly server and a basket of hush puppies and a bucket of honey butter. We ordered a little of everything. True NC pork BBQ, southern style fried chicken, fried shrimp, boiled butter potatoes, colla greens, mac and cheese and cole slaw. EVERYTHING was good. The only let down was the mac and cheese. We were hoping for a baked mac and cheese but it was more of a velveeta style rou mac and cheese. Still good, just not what was pictured or what we prefer. This is a super easy stop off int. 95, maybe a mile off the exit. We will most definitely be stopping in every year as we head south. I would suggest you do the same!
