It's been a while since I've been here, more than 12 years. I went here recently to hang out with some friends since one of them is vegan. This place still serves some great vegan/vegetarian food and is a great place as an option for them. Parking is in a small plaza and can get packed, but I had no issues finding a spot during Sunday lunch. Inside has plenty of seating, but part of the dining area is closed off. Customer service is great. Very friendly and fast service. They did not rush us to leave even after we finished our meal and we hung out for almost 2 hours afterwards. The food was good. My favorite was the salt and pepper tofu. We also ordered salad, a clay pot Rice bowl with veggies, and I got a Lee lemonade. Food were all okay. The best to me was the tofu. So the food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious. It is one of the most delicious vegan restaurants on the face of the Earth. The problem is that the service is inconsistent and they also have very strange hours. For instance, what kind of absolute nonsense is it for a restaurant to be closed on a Wednesday? I just drove a half hour out of my way because they didn't update their hours on the Maps app I was using and it looked like they were open and so now an entire hour of my life is wasted and we're still hungry and now we're pissed off. Also, the ambience of the place kind of sucks a little bit. It's always dark and moody, and the tables are always sticky as though the place is operated by teenagers who just do barely enough to keep it functional. Also, the last time we were there, we had a very simple order of about four different things, our modifications were not significant, and it was something we always order when we go there. They literally failed to make two of our items. All we ate was fried rice and the salt and pepper tofu. All in all, it was an absolutely terrible experience, which is kind of disgusting for me because I used to take my kid here when he was tiny and it used to be special for us and now it's just bull crap. And back to the Wednesday thing. Who is closed on Wednesday? Nobody. This literally makes no sense. I would get it if they were Seventh-day Adventists like El Cantero, and there would be closed on a Saturday, but the Wednesday thing makes no sense whatsoever. Also, the vibe is really culty. Nothing too fancy or bad. It was fine. The service was good. The portions are quite large. I ordered the below: SALT & PEPPER TOFU: I was expecting this to be an appetizer dish size but it was a full entree size! I would've been full just eating that! It looked & smelled great but it was too tough for me. I would poke my fork into one & the tofu would smush down but not puncture. I like my fried tofu lightly crisp on the outside & soft on the inside. Unfortunately, I would have to rate this a 1.5. EGGPLANT & FRIED TOFU: Eggplant was good, sauce was good, but the tofu was a little tough. I've never had an eggplant dish with finely chopped pineapples before. At first, I thought it was onions; but found out it was pineapple. You definitely need rice with this because it's really saucey. I rated this a 3.5. SWEET & SOUR DISH: This was my favorite dish. It was really good. I would recommend this dish. I gave it a 4.5. If I averaged my rating, my review would be a 3. I looked over at some of the other patron's dishes & they looked good. If I could give Loving Hut 10 stars, I absolutely would! We've always enjoyed their food through takeout, but last night was our first time hosting Friendsgiving dinner there... and WOW, just WOW. From the very beginning, the staff was incredibly kind, responsive, and so easy to work with. We had a group of 30 ladies, and every single one of us loved our meals. We ordered almost everything - garlic noodles, salt & pepper tofu, Mongolian Wonder (THE standout favorite), basil eggplant, Lucky Lemongrass, Loving Hut Fried Rice, and so much more. Every dish came out piping hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The team at Loving Hut went above and beyond for us. They rearranged tables to create one long setup for our group, let us decorate, and somehow managed to get all our food out quickly despite the huge order. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and has plenty of parking (which is such a bonus when hosting a big group). We left full, happy, and incredibly grateful. We'll definitely be back! read more

In the hallway near the restroom there's cleaning supplies and stuff. The floor boards, glass and restrooms could use a good cleaning too. We came a few years ago, and were not impressed. Gave it another try today as the sushi place was closing at 2, and we are happy we gave it a 2nd chance. Ordered the veggie wrap, basil fries and the clay pot rice. All dishes tasted fresh and had yummy flavors! I have been a long term customer for the last 3 years. I never ordered gluten free until today and this review is for gluten free individuals: I ordered the clay pot rice, I asked for gluten free because I was bringing it for a party where some can't have gluten. I assumed they would add alternative sauce or seasonings, but they added no sauce. It was a dish that lacked complete flavor and was disappointing to bring to the party. It costed the same full price $16 as one that is made with all seasoning and sauce. Before ordering gluten free, ask if they will add alternatives or different seasonings otherwise it will come out plain. I recommend the restaurant to let others customers know that you would not be adding any sauce or seasonings so the customer can decide there if they should order elsewhere. Individuals who are gluten free should be able to enjoy an alternative sauce. read more

Was a longtime Loving Hut customer, however, no longer. Had problems with the consistency of food preparation - image fried food either overcooked or undercooked. When told cashier to relay to cook not to overcook, the cashier stated they'd no longer serve me. Now I understand what others meant by inconsistent service. RUN AWAY FAST!!! read more

This is our go to for vegetarian food. This place is located in a small plaza. They have quite a bit of tables if you care to dine in. We usually get take out, but one day we will eat there haha The service is always very friendly and the food is always awesome. Their food doesn't leave a nasty veggie meat after taste, unlike another recent vegetarian place we tried out. Below is a list of our go to items: Spicy Cha Cha: This is a very tasty "Shrimp" dish that is not really spicy. The flavor is just awesome. Even though we take it to go, it's still very crispy by the time we eat it. Orange Wonder: Their version of Orange "Chicken". My kids love this dish. Their protein meat along with their batter is just perfect. Not mushy at all. Crispy and very good is best to describe this dish. Sesame Soy: Want Sesame chicken? This is a great alternative without the guilt of eating actual chicken haha. Just like the orange wonder, the texture and flavor is very good. It's not too sweet, it's just right. Salt and Pepper Tofu: We tend to get 2 orders of this dish haha. The flavor of this dish is just addicting. Oh, pro tip, ask for their vinegar, it goes well with this tofu dish. Loving Hut Fried Rice: This is another dish we usually get 2 orders of haha. There's something about their fried rice that wants you craving more. I can eat a whole dish of just their Loving Hut Fried Rice. Haha Oh, one thing to note is that they are closed on Wednesday. If they are closed, and you want some vegetarian food, I suggest just waiting until they open up the next day. I'm a huge fan of Vegan food, so I knew that I had to try Loving Hut. The service here is super nice, and I love the variety of Vegan food. They recreate so many Meat dishes into a yummy Vegan alternative. They have so many choices, but I feel like most would taste good! The soy has a chewy nice texture that reminds me of tofu skin. All the dishes are pretty soaked in sauces, which gives it a nice flavor. I ordered the Golden Era and Orange Wonder when I went here. One thing I'll note is that since most of the soys are fried, it does taste a little oily. Although vegan, I wouldn't classify the food as healthy. The orange wonder had a very strong orange flavor, so it was kinda sweet and sour - so only order if you're okay with sweet and savory being mixed together! The Golden Era had a nice garlic oil taste. Overall, if you're looking to try something new and want to have vegan food - I'd say this is a good place to start! read more

Loving Hut has been a staple in our house for a handful of years. However, they have several locations internationally and I think that speaks to the quality of their food. Although their food is all vegan, it is packed with flavor and always made fresh. Frankly, there is nothing I have tried there that I didn't enjoy, but my favorites are the Orange Wonder, Spicy ChaCha, Mongolian Wonder, Buddha Delight, Golden Rolls, Caramelized Bliss, Garlic Noodles, and Loving Hut Fried Rice. This location in particular has a spacious dining room and is always clean. There is usually relaxing music playing and quick and efficient service. They are able to seat small and large party sizes. As a vegan who's dabbled endlessly in the LA and Sac vegan food scene, Loving Hut is my favorite casual restaurant and this place is most definitely a hidden gem. Admittedly, the atmosphere and service can be underwhelming, but the food and affordability make up for it. Salt and pepper tofu - This dish is iconic. The flavor is unlike anything I've tasted before and the seasoning is addictive. The tofu itself is on the firm/spongier side and the outside batter is crispy. It's topped with well-seasoned onion and jalapeno bits which are satisfyingly salty. The portion size is generous and you can even order a side of rice to make it go a long way. Bun hue - was good. The tofu soaks up the broth and explodes in your mouth. Spicy cha cha (not pictured) - delicious mock prawns (?) that are well-seasoned and served on top of a bed of shredded lettuce. My only complaint would be the portion size as each order only comes with 6 pieces, but I don't blame them considering how expensive vegan meat can be. read more

But the best thing about Loving Hut is their large menu and the food. They service gigantic plates, quickly and they are always delicious! I started visiting Loving Hut when they first opened, and visit whenever I am in the area. Their hours are generous and just closed one day on Wednesday. I just can't say enough about how much I love Loving Hut! Try it and you'll get hooked too. The entire menu is vegan so you don't have to worry about anything.
