For my 5th anniversary I wanted to get my husband a traditional gift and I read that wood…read morerepresented 5 years of marriage. We had just bought a house so I decided the best gift would be something for the garden so we could enjoy sitting outside together. I started by searching retail stores but I wanted something that was solid wood and that would last. Every review I read said that a piece broke or the quality was bad. I finally decided pay a little now for a bench or chair that will last for maybe 2 years or pay a more for a good quality bench. This is when I came across Sunset Garden Furniture and called Dave the owner. He was patient with me, answered all my questions, and even told me how to extend the life of outdoor furniture. I purchased an Adirondack Loveseat Rocker which was built to my specifications and two weeks later Dave delivered it to my house. He didn't stop there either. Once he delivered the rocker he gave me a brief lesson on weathering and how to maintain the rocker so that it will last. Three years later we still have the Loveseat Rocker and enjoy sitting on it as our two littles play in the yard. Dave is a very talented craftsmen and his work is built strong. I highly suggest paying the little extra for a handmade product verses a factory built product.

Slumberland: Do Not Shop Here - Deceptive Sales, Zero Integrity…read moreOrder # 0525547WL93 I only ask two things of a retailer... 1) Don't lie to me and 2) Treat me with respect. My experience at Slumberland Furniture in Sunset Hills, Missouri was an infuriating example of bait-and-switch tactics and deliberate dishonesty. On May 25th, 2025, my wife and I walked into this newly opened store and spent over $3,000 on furniture--including an Ashley sofa, two Ashley chairs, and two Lazy Boy power recliners. We paid in full that evening and were explicitly promised that both recliners would be brand new, not floor models. On June 13th, weeks later, I called to check on the order. I was told the couch and chairs wouldn't arrive until late June, but the recliners would be available for pickup the following week. During that call, I asked again if we were receiving new recliners, not the showroom sample. The clerk's vague and deceptive response raised a red flag. I knew something was off. So on June 16th, I made an unannounced visit to the store around 12:35 p.m. I inspected the floor model recliner closely so I could recognize it later if needed, and then I took an extra step. I discreetly slipped a white envelope with my handwritten initials into the magazine pocket of the floor model recliner, my own personal lie detector. While I was there, I witnessed an all-too-coincidental interaction: A salesperson, we'll call him Richard, or Dick for brevity, was instructing another employee to remove that exact chair from the floor. Suspicion confirmed. The next day, June 17th, I received a message that my recliners were ready for pickup after 2 p.m. I arrived at 5:52 p.m. and Dick, the same salesperson I saw removing the floor model the day before, greeted me again. Dick asked me to drive around to the dock. When I pulled into the dock he stated that one chair was in a box and the other was wrapped in plastic. I immediately asked: "Is the one in plastic the floor model?" He responded by claiming that it was new but there was some "rigmarole" with the recliner. I asked again. Same lie. One more time, right before they loaded the second chair, again, he continued to lie. So, I ripped through the plastic wrapping, reached into the magazine pocket, and pulled out the envelope with my handwritten initials that I had placed the day before. It was the floor model. Dick lied to my face, three times. In total the store lied at least 5 times. Caught red-handed. Not a word of apology. No attempt to make it right. Just silence. No integrity. No accountability. No respect for the customer. This wasn't just sloppy service, it was intentional deception. Slumberland tried to pass off used furniture as new and hoped I wouldn't catch them. Slumberland Furniture at Sunset Hills Plaza cannot be trusted. They have no ethics, no customer respect, and no business representing a national brand. Do not give them your money. They do not deserve your business. The moral of the story? Don't be a Dick.

The delivery guys were also very nice, but took out a huge branch of my neighbors tree as they were backing down the street to deliver my furniture. They did push the branch out of the street (after I requested they not leave it in the middle of the street). However this left this large branch splayed over my neighbors front steps and the sidewalk. I called and spoke with Thomas Grogan (warehouse manager) and told him what was going on. I also sent pictures. He said he would leave early and come out and remove it. He did come out and broke down the branch and put it in his truck. He even knocked on my neighbor's door to apologize. I'm so thankful that this was taken care of and I think Thomas went way above and beyond! Kudos!!
