Gas sucks, I filled up at Philip 66 and with a full tank got 400 miles, when I filled up here full tank I got 250 miles. Don't go here. Spend your money somewhere better. Let that sink in for a moment before I begin this review. Some background: I've been frequenting this rest stop ever since I met my husband (then boyfriend) back in 2012. His family lives in central Kansas and this stop is **roughly** halfway between KC and where most of them live. We both have always agreed that it's a solid store and likely the best one in eastern Kansas, before you hit bigger cities that have QTs available. It was a record breaking cold day the last time I was here with my family and we stopped as per usual for a quick restroom break and to pick up a bottle of water or two before continuing on our journey west. As is has been every other time I've been here over the past decade, it was clean, the folks working courteous, the bathrooms well stocked, and plenty of snacks and beverages to choose from. So, what makes this place 4 instead of 5 stars you might ask? Just a few small things: 1. they only carry one brand of sparkling water and are often out of it. That's my number one request at any rest stop these days and on my last visit here I snagged the very last bottle, I'm sure to someone else's dismay. 2. It's a great convenience store/ gas station but it just can't compare to the kings in this category like WaWa and QuikTrip. I will say though, what sets this spot from the others is consistency. This stop has come through for me on many occasions and I'm sure will continue to do so for years to come.

We were in to buy bug spray yesterday, Saturday, August 29 on our way to Clinton Lake and had to pass though a small group of unmasked people drinking and congregating around the entrance, and once inside, found at least 9 people surroundng the register drinking beer, standing about 12 inches apart, with one woman sitting on a crate, which indicates that this was not going to break up any time soon. There was also a gathering of about 6-8 people eating dinner in the tiny dining room, understandably unmaksed, but in such a small tight space, it added to the risk of transmission. I and my friend were the only ones in masks and in order to purchase anything and pay for it, we had to move through and wait within a crowd of what seemed like locals using the store as a place to hang out for the evening with open containers. The store is tiny. In the attached photo of the aisles and cold case, imagine 8-10 people packed in this space along with an unmasked cashier and another crowd outside the door. This blatant disregard for the Douglas County mask requirement, when we ranked #7 nationally as of Friday as one of the fastest-growing towns for cases and transmission, is disgusting. They have a responsibility to their community and guests using the lake to take every precaution necessary, no matter how unpopular the County mask mandate may be to their clientele. The cashier was friendly and although no one said anything negative to us, all eyes were on us until we left and the atmosphere created by the clientele felt intimidating. I wouldn't recommended shopping here until they are in compliance. Someone needs to pay them an official visit.

Could not believe my bad luck with the screw. I was panicked. What in the world was I going to do? Thankfully, my friend suggested that I take my car to Westside 66. I actually looked at him like he was crazy because it was a Sunday afternoon. He assured me they were still open. I have to confess that I did not entirely believe him. LOL. He said, "They can fix it in 10 minutes and it will cost you about $16." Yeah, right. So I headed Westside 66 and kept my fingers crossed. The cashier told me to pull around back and they would look at the tire. Honestly, within ten minutes... the tire was fixed and it cost $16. I could not believe my good luck on finding this place. The mechanic who worked on my tire was nice, professional and he knew exactly what to do to get me fixed. He did not waste time with small talk and he got me right on my way. The cashier was very nice and courteous. She, too, was professional and very helpful. I appreciate her guidance. I asked her if they had been busy and she said it was a slow day for them. It was hard to believe it was a slow work day because both bays were filled and other cars were lined up for service. I will definitely go back to this station for service. I had counted on being there for hours but it was quick, efficient, professional service. WOW. Still cannot believe my luck with this wonderful shop.
