The field is right next to an airport which is pretty cool, to see all sorts of planes landing and taking off. The refreshment stand offers water, Gatorade, soda, plenty of snacks, and some actual food items. Mostly just burgers, hot dogs, and a few breakfast items. The parking can be brutal, they now have officers on duty to help with the madness that is Saturday game day. This is a great field for kids to start their new soccer obsession!

The place is also used as a sports training facility (as the name suggests) and they have baseball and soccer camps. Because of this, it can get pretty busy when you're working out as there are a lot of little kids running around and they can get in the way. The place is just getting started and they are wanting to move to a larger facility once they get enough sustained revenue income. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and if you're into cross-fit and power/olympic style lifts, this place is for you.

First: if you are going to have refs, at least make them understand the rules. Some are for safety reasons. Today at my sons soccer game I watched, not once, but multiple times, run over the goalie while he had it in his hands. This is a foul that in real soccer would have resulted in a card. Second: the Vice President, which I am sure this message is going to, should not coach. If he does, at least call the fouls and the correct calls. I watch my son score on a direct kick, but was called back for indirect. If the Vice President is there he should have called that. Plus that game had a lot of pushing and nothing was called. Third: you need to have someone that understands soccer running this. For someone who has played for over 15 years and coached collegiate, watching this is painful. Their home fields are at Elmington Park at 3500 West End Ave. You can see their games here during the season at Elmington Park when they host out of town teams for competition. The game Footy is some kind of hybrid between American Football, Soccer, and Rugby. The way the do the scoring is related to soccer, and football with a certain number of points assigned based on whether the ball is kicked over a goal post or whether it is carried across the line. I don't completely understand the rules yet, but it is a lot of fun to watch. The game is very fast paced, and I really like the way the do the scoring for the game. Each goal has a score keeper and the score keeper has two flags. Based on the score the flag bearer does some choreographed moves to indicate the score. He wears a white coat and hat and waves the flags in a very formal way. It is enough fun for me just to go and watch the flags wave. Also, the men that seem to gravitate to this sport are quiet buff. So if nothing else you can get the girlfriends together to watch some fit men run around. They aren't wearing any heavy padding to obscure your view. Watching Footy is a nice way to spend a summer afternoon, you can get some sunshine and culture all in one fell swoop.
