You can sometimes walk in and grab a court ... but we've found it's much smoother to call ahead and make a reservation in advance. If you're not a member, you can reserve courts three days in advance for around $8 an hour. You pay per court, not per person, which is a great deal if you're playing 2 on 2. Everyone we've spoken to at the front desk has been friendly and helpful! The Sportsplex also offers pickleball clinics and open play opportunities. We haven't tried either of these - but they seem to be well-organized! Like some other reviewers mention, the parking can be a bit tricky if there's some sort of tournament going on. If you're worried about the facilities being busy, I recommend calling ahead to see what they have planned for the day. you'd like to play.

Who doesn't love a bunch of silly adults playing kickball once a week, on Thursdays at either 7 or 8, while drinking beer, occasionally dressing up for theme nights, and kicking big red balls. If you feel like hanging out after the games most people meet up at Neighbors in Sylvan park to continue the festivities. If you like to have fun I recommend going to the WAKA website and signing up for next season. You can either get a group together or if you sign up solo you will be assigned to a team. Don't worry about not knowing anyone, everyone I have met has been awesome!

This is a perfect organization to join if are new to town or just looking to network. The games were on Thursday nights. They started at 7 p.m. with another round starting up at 8 p.m. Sometimes there were double headers, which, I almost liked even more because it was like getting in extra practice time! I would say bring a big can of bug spray because I did get eaten alive during the games. The theme nights were so much fun! This year we kicked it off with superhero night, followed by PROM, Pirate and a Nautical themed night. You do get a pretty cool WAKA tee shirt for joining the leauge. After the games, a big lot of us head over to Neighbors to get some beers. Which is an added bonus because if your team dressed up the best on the theme nights, you could win pitchers of beer. I also like the mid season and end of season parties on the agenda too. All in all, 99.65% of the people are a bunch of big ole goofballs that like to have fun. Yeah, there are some people that are a little TOO hardcore about kickball and there are some people who don't show up (you have to have a min. about of players on the field to play) which can damper the party, but all in all the good sucker punches the bad in the face with awesome. Thanks YELP for letting me play for Free this year, I will more than likely be a full fledged paying member after all the fun I had so far!

My six year old does the younger class, and my daughter does the older where she gets to learn self-defense while we work out! They earn fitness bucks to buy things at the counter. We love this gym and drive to the other side of town to go! Everyone work there has always been friendly. I wish they offered more cardio fitness classes during the evenings! There is an inside and outdoor pool, basketball courts, inside track, two weightlifting areas, HIIT area, two locker rooms with saunas, and a cardio cinema. The nursery employees always remember my son, and they're so wonderful with him despite his hyperactivity. We have really loved being members here! They even have volleyball "games" and events like parents night out here. We can't recommend CAC enough!

While my family was wowed by the facilities, one of their managers has made it impossible for my wife to feel comfortable to attend alone. This manager/trainer has a track record of harassing women who have complained to the point of tracking them down through personal emails and "coincidentally" bumping into them. Scan through other online reviews (here and elsewhere) and the pattern is obvious. Unfortunately, the owners are just cashing checks, so nothing changes. They'll ignore this review. It's just one former clients point of view. There are plenty of other options in the area, and I strongly recommend choosing one of those.

I do feel like they haven't updated the gym much since they opened. Most of the original machines are there and beginning to show wear and tear. The men's sauna consistently has one of the burners out, leaving it not as hot. Also the tile in the sauna is turning black from the amount of sweat and filth in there. Staff is very kind and helpful, common areas are very clean. The pools are great and the outdoor spaces during the warmer months are a gift. The classes are always filled up and the gym is pretty crowded. I would like to see them add on to the gym to make more space as more and more people are joining. Amongst the treadmills that sometimes work, the other equipment that is older than dirt, and the single television that's usually stuck on Barney or some other PBS children's show, it's just not worth the money. I wouldn't call myself an "outdoorsy" broad as I have been a professional heel clicker in the concrete jungle circuit. Bright lights, big city... holler at your Girl Scout. However, when a member of the Nashville Hiking Meetup reached out in the last few months to form a partnership with Yelp and was actively posting some pretty interesting events on our homepage calendar, I started to get the itch to enjoy the great outdoors while attempting to stay fit. How many calories was in my martini again? Sh*t. Back to the Smokey the Bear's hangouts... no, really. I can NOT express what a spectacular time I had last night for Nashville Hiking Meetup's hike at Radnor Lake. Can you believe that this was my first visit to the park? I wasn't joking when I told you that I am a little naive about things of this nature. I pulled into the parking lot at 6pm where I was immediately greeted by a friendly pack of NHM hikers that consisted of a diverse group of men and women. A hiking leader even supplied me with a bottle of water as I didn't have time to pick some up on my way there. We chatted for just a few minutes and cut to the chase by starting our way on the trail. These people do not mess around. I was feeling pretty good about myself when we made our first stop assuming that we were near the end, only to find out that we still have quite a bit to go. Every inch of my body was put to work as we marched through various terrains and hiked up steep slopes. So this is how Jane Fonda really achieved those Buns of Steel. I felt my adrenaline go into overdrive as I wanted to kick this trails arse. It felt fantastic to be part of a crew as we maneuvered our way through the woods. I nearly had sensory overload with all the beautiful sights of deer, other creatures, view of the sky and lake, but the natural scent of the park is simply comforting. I could feel stress levels come down as my mental high elevated. Hopefully my tush will follow in pursuit? Fast forward to 8pm when I flung my sweaty yet blissful self into my car seat. The group generally goes and grabs a bite and brews after but I wanted to relish in my quiet victory. I'm ready to do it all again next week! TIP. Be sure to check out their website for all the scheduled year round group hikes that even include an Urban Hike that circles through the East Nashville and Downtown areas! Isn't it amusing that this city girl will be skipping those to take in some quality time with Mother Nature instead?

There are hikes for people at all levels of fitness, and plentiful social and volunteer events as well. I'm in a lot of meetup groups and I don't know another that is so well-organized or that has a calendar so chock-full of diverse events. My best advice for new members: some popular events "fill up" fast, but many, many people drop out at the last minute. Join the waiting list and be patient. Chances are very, very good that you'll get moved to a "yes" (but probably in the last 24 hours before the event). There are also tons of events that never have a waiting list at all. Also, on your first event, it may seem like everyone knows one another, but this is actually never true. There is a core group of regulars at pretty much every event, but you are never the only "new person". Tell the trip leader that you're new and don't know anyone. Chances are they will take special care of you.
