I think they are open now for appointments only. I went in soon after they re-opened. They have made health/safety modifications with temperature checking, customer logging for contact tracing, mask enforced, hand sanitizer and lysol everywhere, and plexi barrier between customer and nail tech, as well as, all nail techs wearing gloves, masks, and face shields, with open door for ventilation. I felt pretty good about it. I have been going to this nail shop since they were at the old location down the street. Initially, I just wondered in because it was close to where I live, I have kept coming because of their consistency in the quality of their work. My gel nail usually lasts good 3 weeks until the growth become unflattering and I go in for a new color. I usually do gel mani and regular pedi with shoulder and feet massage. I have a back problem so sitting in a chair with my legs up in a certain position for a long time becomes uncomfortable. They always bring extra cushions out when I come to help me get comfortable. They are hard working good people. I hope people support this local minority/immigrant owned business. read more

I went there for a gel removal. Not a manicure. Just removal of my gel. The lady took 3 try to take it off. I left after 30 min with still gel on my nails, cracked nail, dirty nail. Unbelievable. I have never had such a bad service. The place is very dirty and they do not sterilize tools. They use already open and dirty nail tools. It was a really terrible experience. This was one of the worst manicure experiences I have had. I needed to get my previous gel taken off and get another gel manicure. When I sat down, a lady started working on getting my gel off and she was being slow, so the manager came over and started doing my other hand and kicked the lady out of her seat to take over. The manager was so impatient. She wrapped my fingertips in foil and waited for literally 5 seconds before taking the foil off and trying to scrape the gel off of my fingers with a nail cleaner. Obviously, because she didn't let the acetone set, the gel wouldn't come off and she ended up scraping the tops of my nails and *peeling* the gel off! Then, she started cutting and filing my nails. She didn't ask what shape I wanted and just started cutting my nails square. What astonished me the most was that she then proceeded to paint my nails by slapping paint on and getting it all over my skin, and just using a brush with acetone on it to wipe off what all the paint she got on my skin! She did not even try to paint only on my nails. It got everywhere and my the time she finished, it just looked like a complete mess. There was still paint residue left on my skin and my nails had bumps in the coats. When I got home, I had to wipe off the paint on my fingertips since she didn't do it! I could have done my own nails with more care and precision than this! I will definitely not be coming back here. read more

I first came here to get a regular pedicure and my polish lasted pretty long so I decided to come back to get a gel mani since they were decently priced. I came here on Friday morning to get my manicure and it's already chipping 4 days later. The owner did my nails and she did it so quickly and hastily. She wasn't even paying attention to the LED machine that she asked me to put my hand under and didn't even turn the light on until I asked her to. She only did one top coat and afterwards, for some reason, she filed down the edges, breaking the top coat seal. I'm pretty sure this is why my nails are chipping so quickly now. These gels are supposed to last 3 weeks, not 3 days. Extremely disappointing and a waste of money! You're better off just paying a few extra dollars and going somewhere else that will do a better job/ensure your nails last longer. read more

I am so frustrated by my experience I feel like I needed to write a review. Mind you I still paid and tipped because I value their time but I'm a little annoyed I was even asked to pay. I tried this salon for a gel manicure for the first time because it has solid reviews and I totally regret it. My "keep them long, almond shape" was met with nails clipped short straight across, then filed unevenly. Unfortunately they're too short to get to the shape I want and honestly the woman who took over was barely better than the initial hack job. Helen does a good job, but has the downright worst attitude. I mean, guys I can't stress this enough, truly the worst. I had her the first time and I couldn't tell if maybe there was a cultural disconnect and she didn't understand social niceties- or maybe I was interpreting her body language and behavior wrong. So I remained super nice and enthusiastic through the entire appointment. I liked the $30 gel manicure and it's in the same building as my office, so I gave it another go. Yikes! She made me so uncomfortable. Full disclosure, I am one of those people that you could set on fire using the cosmetic alcohol before I'd complain about the experience, and not everyone's having the "best day ever" everyday, but sheesh. Weird smirks, eye rolls, sighs- I honestly thought she was kidding at first. She acts like she has "absolutely had it with you" from the moment you walk in the door. Second appointment she pulled my hand out of the water bowl and spilled the water all over me (in my office clothes, on my lunch hour) and I was so nice about it, I was like "you can't even tell! No problem!" She didn't apologize, acted like it was my fault, grabbed towels and stuck them between me and the chair, took a deep breath and said "well" and just kept going. Weird, but okay. 20 minutes later I (very, very sweetly) asked her please not to make the coats too thick because I don't love it when my nails look super chunky, and she legitimately rolled her eyes and scoffed. Once the place started to get busier, it went from bad to worse. She rushed through the second half so quickly I had little parts of cotton swabs hanging off my nails. I almost declined the massage, but didn't want to be offensive - Kinda wish I had though cause she just slapped her hands on my arm all sloppily while looking away like she was massaging someone she truly loathed. The whole thing was just...confusing and uncomfortable. I'm almost laughing at how uncomfortable it was, in hindsight. So bizarre too because every single other person in there is wildly lovely and sweet. Listen, she does a good job and I honestly feel a little badly for her, sometimes the people that are miserable need it the most so I still tipped her $5 (usually I tip $8 on a gel mani, gotta pay it forward) but to be honest if you want this to be a chill happy relaxing appointment- go somewhere else mama. If all you care about is getting a good manicure, should be fine. read more

I found Lovely Nails a couple months ago by searching in Santa Monica/West Los Angeles for Axxium, which is a gel nail that is supposed to be better than acrylics. I absolutely loved the results the first couple times (see the pictures). The excitement faded a bit once I realized it was just as bad for your nails as acrylics, but I'm still enjoying the fact that it will not chip AT ALL for at least two weeks. Helen is always available when I want to come in, and is always careful and precise. Another thing I love about the "color gel," as they call it, is that you get the full manicure with it, so your hands look fantastic when you leave. This would definitely be what I would do if I had a wedding, or an important event, where I wanted to look perfect. Lovely Nails is located across the street from Ross and next to McDonalds. There is parking in the back or on the side streets. No parking on Wilshire from 4-7 pm. The waxing was excellent, too. I intend to try out the pedicure my next time. read more

They are all just so amazing (had to pick a different adjective than lovely since it is in their name, but to be honest- they are extremely lovely) and the mani/pedi are fantastic. I primarily see Tina and Helen. Let me tellllll you, Tina gives the best massages this side of the Mississippi... and maybe beyond the Mississippi. I had even gotten muscle work at my chiropractor earlier in the day and when she asked if I wanted a shoulder massage... take all my money and give me that bliss. One star because the girl who does massages is good. Otherwise, ZERO. As I'm sure you'll see with other reviews, the owner completely rushed through my nails. That wasn't even my main issues. After leaving the salon I noticed weird discoloration and darkening of my gel. This has never happened to me at other nails salons but as soon as I noticed I turned around and came back into the salon (maybe 10 min after I paid). I showed the rude owner my nails and she proceeded to tell me that I must have put something on them, like bleach. Yes, bleach. In shock I laughed and asked her if she was serious considering I had just left the salon TEN MIN AGO. She had not only an annoying look on her face but a disgusting tongue to match it. I told her to please tell me how it's possible, or WHY, I would leave and within 10 minutes get to my car, somehow put bleach on my nails, and drive back and walk back in. It wasn't possible! And even if it was possible, I just left the damn nail salon with lotion on my hands why would I even put anything else on them....let alone bleach. She kept going back and forth with me and rudely told me to sit down to fix them, I told her thanks but no thanks, I'll pay someone legit to fix them. I had every intention of them fixing my nails but to be honest her disgusting attitude and claims that I would somehow sabotage my own nails that I just paid $70 for is ridiculous! I'm 30 years old, this isn't my first time getting my nails done. Keep the money, thief. Not worth it. Also, side note....while I was getting my nails done she answered the phone 1,000 times and there was a lady on the phone complaining about her nails she got done there 2 days ago. This is actually the crappiest nail salon I've ever been to. I'm so surprised by the high reviews because this isn't even a real salon! It looks like an office building they just stuck arm chairs in. I went in for a pedicure and they don't even have massage chairs or proper sinks for pedicure station. They bring out a small tub for you to stick your feet in like we are in TJ or something. The arm chairs they have you sit in are too low and the foot rest they bring to work on is too high making the whole pedicure uncomfortable. To top it off a lady comes to offer a 10 minute massage but then tells you it will be an additional $10, when typically at any other salon I would turn on the massage chair for my whole visit. I just wanted a very simple nude color and their selection was so tiny and the Essie color I chose mysteriously went empty after the first coat and they changed my color to light pink which I did not want. I was originally coming in for a mani pedi gel + some I was going to get some waxing done. They only validate 2 hours of parking, I was there since 5pm-7pm for simply a pedicure, not only did the lady forget to paint one of my nails a different color, but I let it be since she was new I didn't want to give her a hard time, however the owner started doing my acrylic nails on my hands and she kept running through the whole process filing and constantly looking around and not paying attention to my nails, they were all crooked, some were skinny some were thick!! And extremely short from all the constant filling she kept making, I was told this was going to be a charge of at least $90, so I told her I did not like my acrylic nails, if I'm going to pay that much for work I expect my nails to match! She attempted to fix them and pointed out the mistakes, but still they were not the same shape at all, so I told her to take them off, well she got pissed, and when it was time for my wax, she said she did not have time, apparently she's the only one who does wax, LIES! I've had work done from her establishment in the past, when she use to be on Wilshire and Brockton, so no she isn't the only one that waxes! If I knew I wasn't going to get what I wanted I simply would have gone somewhere else. And on top of that I ended up paying $45 for pedicure! They charged me for taking off acrylic, and filling my nails on my hands, that I did NOT ask for, at that point I just wanted to get out of there so I payed the $45 and didn't make a big deal out of it on told left $5 tip for the new manicurist, I didn't want to argue. When I was just leaving the parking structure I put my validation first then my ticket, parking come down to $20! So don't even bother parking there you're better off parking on the street, luckily the machine ate my parking validation, and I called for assistance, and they let me out so I didn't pay the $20. read more

A lady that I know always has really nice nails and I asked her where she got them done and she referred me to lovely nails which just happens to be right up the street from my job. I had been hearing about the craze of the "gel nails" so I thought I would give it a whirl for my 10 day vacation. I didn't have any issues upon my first visit. I didn't think that Helen was particularly friendly but she wasn't unfriendly either. Tina, the lady that did my pedi was very pleasant. I had a gel nail mani, regular pedi (in the chair) and an eybrow wax. I paid $70 including the $12 tip i left. I must admit that I thought it was a bit much. Mainly bc it wasn't explained to me how the prices broke down so be sure to ask how much everything is. The sign in the front says $20 mani/pedi so you could imagine my surprise when I paid $70 bucks when it was all said and done. About a week into my trip i noticed that the gel nails started to raise and curl in the corners. This was a bit disappointing. With my trip being 10 days by the time I got back to LA and back to work to go in and show them what happened the nails were straight up coming off. GHETTO! I showed them to Helen expecting some sort of apology or acknowledgment of maybe a job not thoroughly done. She was like "hmm strange" and sent Tina over to take them off. Tina removed the color by literally ripping them off my fingernails with a cuticle cutter and NOT by soaking them in acetone and scraping them off. My poor nails are now extremely weak and brittle. T On top of all of that I was charged, yes, charged $5 to remove the nails. Had I known I would have done it at home for free. Needless to say, i will not be returning. You have been warned. read more
