I came into this location because I was in Abingdon and decided to get my nails done last minute. It was the closest place and when I called they said I could come in without any problems. I liked my manicure, I got gel done and even had some crystals put on my ring fingers and it looked great. I also got the basic pedicure. I liked the way my nails came out and the couple was nice but just keep in mind your wait might be long because there are literally only 2 people working there. There was one person ahead of me so it still took time for them to do my nails, the whole process took 2 hours, but I was happy with my results at the end. My nails did last a while, I'd say a little over 2 weeks which is pretty good for nails. read more

This is a nice place to get your nails done. Every time I go, there are only two people working, so you might have to wait a little during busier times. They do a decent job with manicures and pedi's. Average prices. I usually get my eye brows waxed there too and they do a good job with them. They add $2 for credit cards so be aware before you go. I went to Lovely Nails yesterday to remove my old acrylic and get A new set. My appointment was at 2 they started on me about 2:50 which I get some places there's gonna be A wait that's fine I got over that. When they finally bring me over I sat for about 45-55 mins in the acetone bowl which was killing my wrists and my fingertips felt so sensitive after which made the whole process pretty uncomfortable. They bounced around working on everyone else, I had 3 different people come do A little on mine and rotate which didn't feel like I was gonna get consistent results and I didn't. It felt like they didn't even have time for me even though I made an appointment and was still offering extra services to walk ins that they never asked me about. Walk ins walked in after me and out before me. I had A super cute design picked out I showed it to one of the girls she said okay! By the time we got to paint I had another tech & by that point I was so frustrated and uncomfortable I told her to just do black. She proceeds to talk me into A black glitter color which I was unsure about but went with it just to get out of there. Then she passes me back to the other girl. I was going crazy listening to the same Avril Lavigne song, no joke 100 times on top of my aching fingertips. I would have gotten over it if I really loved my nails but there is acrylic all under my fingernails, I don't love the color (but I'll deal), and some of my nails have great shape while others are so crooked. I will have to file them to match the others which I've never had to do. I just wish I would have felt comfortable enough to be honest with them but I didn't feel like it would go over well given how they acted while I was there. I really wanted to like this place but honestly it was not A good experience. I would like to see them work on customer courtesy, get some new music and each tech focus on one client at A time, I did not feel like A priority. read more

We made a reservation but when we arrived there were only 2 people working and 3 people got priority over us who did not have appointments. Instead of telling us how long it would be, they started on us so we could not leave and then left us and went and worked on someone else. Very unaccomidating. On top of that, they were very rude to my niece, reprimanding her for moving in her chair. In the end, they did a very poor job, throwing polish on in less than 10 minutes for each of us. Very long wait time, probably because this is the only nail salon I could find in Abingdon and they were full, but the wait was worth it in the end. The guy that did my nails did the absolute best job ever - he took his time and was extremely careful in his work. I would definitely rate 5 stars, but since the wait took so long at the time I went, I give it four. Will definitely go back to them, but maybe earlier in the day. read more

I am now a regular visitor to Abingdon, VA, travelling with my husband on business; so I thought to find somewhere to have a manicure when I visit. Since I have a spa/ manicurist in my hometown to whom I am very loyal, I wasn't looking for a spa experience, but more a simple manicure to keep my hands in shape. I found Star Nails through a Google search, and they had one very positive review. When I arrived at about 1:30 pm, I was surprised to find that they were extremely busy, but hoped that this was a good sign. I waited a little more than 15 minutes to be taken. I asked for a basic manicure with simple OPI polish. The first negative was that the young woman who served me was very rough. She repeatedly grabbed my hand, twisting my fingers this way and that. There wasn't the slightest bit of gentleness or care. She seemed extremely disinterested in her work, as if she had much better things to be doing than helping me. The second issue was that she repeatedly spoke under her breath to the manicurist beside her in their native tongue. I assume they decided that since they were speaking in other than English, she could speak as she wished; but she made enough pointed nods and gestures to make it clear that she was referencing another manicurist and customers in whatever dialogue she was having. Totally unprofessional. During the course of my manicure, a dispute took place in the studio - between a would-be customer and the proprietor regarding the fees for services. The proprietor went on and on after the man left about how ridiculous the customer was and about his fees being justified for the services he offers. The entire spectacle was low-class and degrading. My experience was rounded out by the fact that when my manicurist applied my polish- she elected to apply four coats in rapid succession without offering any of the coats an opportunity to dry. This is a cheap- time saving method that certainly does not prefer the customer; because at that point the polish is so thick, no matter how long you sit under a fan or light, the polish is going to be too thick to harden. After she had completed my polish, the manicurist summarily planted me at the drying table and left me, without even returning to check my polish, or even as much as an instruction on how long to remain. And even though I lingered for almost 10 minutes under the fan and light, and took great care getting home, by the evening I had three nails which were marred and smudged. Now, I'll either have to have them re-done, or I will have to look at them for a week, until I can get home and get a decent manicure. Basically, I wasted good money to be able to warn others not to waste theirs. read more
