I was not sure about this contract from the beginning and the rep who talked with me, assured me that it is not a problem to cancel it. I agreed. Few weeks passed, and the payment didn't go through (the card is locked to prevent fraud transactions) so they charged me more than 100% fees! MORE THAN 100% FEES! The payment is 29$ bi-weekly so for each payment that not going through they charged 30$+ fees! This was never disclosed and I would never go with someone with this kind of practices. As my initial concern was, this is what happened, and I visited maybe 4 times of 3 months I paid. Now I asked them that I want cancel it and guess what? That want almost 400$ for it! For nothing! What a shady business you are Think twice before you do any business with this "Golds Gym" franchise

Was charged $50 for it and was told that the key fob was refundable in case I decide not to continue with my membership. I tried contacting them on Facebook regarding this, they read my message but did not reply. Tried phoning them and was told that it was too late. Long story short, did not get my refund. I don't regret not signing up with this gym - they extort money from their customers and are not ashamed of it.

If you buy 12 months it works out to about $45 per month, which is a tad expensive compared to other offerings in the lower mainland. First thing I noticed was no lockers, just a cubby for bags and belongings. I've been to plenty of gyms in rural areas, but this is the only time I've seen anything so wide open. I'm not wired to leave my stuff unattended, so this put me off a bit, but other people might not mind it. There are 3 or 4 private bathrooms with showers for changing and cleaning up, and I saw a tanning bed which I'd presume costs extra. I dropped in during the evening time so there was no staff on hand, but there didn't seem to be towel service or a juice bar regardless, if you're into those sorts of things. The equipment was nice enough and well maintained with ample space, though there really wasn't a lot of great; only one set of dumbbells so good luck getting your hands on anything between 20-45 lbs., and no dedicated bench press so you're waiting with the squatters and dead lifters to use the rack. Kind of annoying. Finally, the people were kinda strange. Lots of guys who appeared to enjoy questionable supplement regimens, which in itself isn't that uncommon, except they all had girls with them and were doing more talking than lifting. At one point probably 5 of them all had their phones out and were taking turns doing group selfies... LOL! I got the feeling that the guys at least worked out somewhere else, then came there to show off their pump to their girlfriends. No lockers + pricey + skimpy equipment + weirdos = won't go back. Not my scene.

I'm writing this negative review with a heavy heart and an extended frustration for the lack of…read morecare experienced at GoodLife. 3-4 months into my membership, I approached a girl at the front desk to ask -- humbly -- whether there was any way GoodLife could help me with my membership, given that I was homeless and unemployed at the time. She checked in with management at the time, and I was given an email address and directed to send an email to another department. I did exactly that, but the response I received was generic and unhelpful. It left me feeling unseen and brushed aside. A manager later mentioned that she had initially offered me 4 weeks off, but that I had never accepted the offer. Which seemed odd...since you don't need someone's permission to give someone something free or to do something kind. Second, I personally have no solid recollection of such an offering. Definitely feels like something I would have remembered and would have accepted. But to be honest, when she offered it to me again later on, it just felt like a slap in the face at that point, considering all the other issues present with GoodLife. Not to mention...I needed assistance FAR greater than just a month, which felt like another slap in the face (essentially offering someone a bandaid for a gushing canon-ball wound...Oh 4 weeks...Thanks, i guess?). Not long after (3-4 weeks later), I noticed that GoodLife hired four new staff members -- a reminder that while resources were available for expansion, there was apparently nothing substantial to offer a loyal member going through a difficult time. It stung. They also knew that I was unemployed, but failed to extend a helpful offering of employment (or even give me a heads up that they were hiring, so I could apply the normal route, like everyone else). That stung even more. Nonetheless, I still chose to stay positive. A couple months go by and I decided to share with management a number of thoughtful ideas to help improve the facility, including specific areas that could have used a quick clean (nothing major by any means, but still noticeable). I was told thank you, and that they'd look into those dirty areas. Anddd...another month goes by...anddd, those same dirty spots remain untouched to this day. Pffff, wild. Don't lie to me, and tell me, " we will address the cleanliness concerns you have brought to our attention." ...then not do anything. Lastly...having recently restarted my new social media presence on instagram, I decided I would tag GoodLife.Abbotsford, hoping it would be reshared on their Instagram Story...but nope. No acknowledgment, no thank you, no reshare... just the same three people they reshare on the social media every day. (One photo I tagged them in might have been deemed spicy, so I can understand that one not being shared for safety, but otherwise...all the countless others were not...they were just being cruel and dishing out more neglect and reject). At this point, I've been stretched thin again -- financially, mentally, and emotionally. Club 16 is right across the street, offering a VIP membership that's half the cost of GoodLife's, and it includes amenities GoodLife doesn't have (including infrared sauna, red light therapy, hydro massage, etc.). So I have to ask myself -- what exactly is holding me back from switching? Loyalty can only go so far when it isn't met with any compassion, gratitude, or basic follow-through. At this point...I'm made to feel like GoodLife doesn't truly care about its members...they're just numbers. Ps, despite us just being numbers to them, they at the same time oddly don't care about financial numbers or profitability...cause they also tend to be over-staffed during the day, yet despite being overstaffed...oddly hard to find sometimes when a member needs something. Labour costs must be through the roof. Pps, ...and...their IN-HOUSE cleaner is spiritually toxic, comes at you during a new moon and latches onto your spirit, or tries to give you bad advice or in-still fear in you (likely why he went from working 5 days a week to 2...he's very inefficient)

After the weekend I went back with the intent of just paying the monthly fee, not accepting the free month for a direct debit deal.
