Golds gym is a SPACIOUS and well known gym in Langley and that's also why they don't really care about maintaining the equipments and hygiene standards. Almost Everything is pretty old or broken. I signed up for their contract (who demanding a year contract to a gym or to any place those days? Only place that not confident in their product) and was sceptical from the beginning as I never went to a gym before and only signed because my relative went there and asked me to join him. I was not sure about this contract from the beginning and the rep who talked with me, assured me that it is not a problem to cancel it. I agreed. Few weeks passed, and the payment didn't go through (the card is locked to prevent fraud transactions) so they charged me more than 100% fees! MORE THAN 100% FEES! The payment is 29$ bi-weekly so for each payment that not going through they charged 30$+ fees! This was never disclosed and I would never go with someone with this kind of practices. As my initial concern was, this is what happened, and I visited maybe 4 times of 3 months I paid. Now I asked them that I want cancel it and guess what? That want almost 400$ for it! For nothing! Staff is rude - esp the female manager there. Consisteny gives me a hard time about key fobs when they know my face and who I am when I go there. There is just not bedside manners. Additionally, pre covid when they had a sick child at the child minding rooms, they didn't notify anyone and never sanitized. That child ended up passing the germs onto my child, who vomited all week and then passed it on to the entire family. When I reached out regarding my concern regarding the health protocols, took them a whole month before someone got back to me. With COVID coming into the picture a few months later, my concerns regarding health protocols have always been valid. This all comes down to poor management. If they had an active manager or someone that truly genuinely care about their member, they would actively work each day on communication and how to make a transition easier for members. Maybe come up with an app for people to scan when they come in, maybe tend to complaints right away So that members aren't feeling ignored. Dylan H, the General Manager is not only approachable and full of positive energy, he leads his team very well. A staff member name Ashton offered to show me any machines in case I needed help and with so many new an exciting pieces of equipment to try, its great to know I have support in learning how to use them. EEEEEK is right. Let me start by saying that I guard my credit rating like I protect my children. I had only joined Gold's to get the accompanying Revolution Fight Club membership (they leased space in the building). When the very nice people who run Revolution finally also got sick of the Gold's money grabbing machine, they pulled up stakes and moved. Those of us leaving with them, got a no-surcharge cancellation opportunity, which I took. I filled out my cancellation on November 11th, 2009. I had the smarts to put a freeze on all deductions for that membership... and it is a good thing I did. We are now February 2010 and I have a nasty assed American collection agency harrassing me once a week for over $500!!! I call Gold's each week, and every time some new 16 year old dippy chick telling me they will look into it. They can't seem to keep staff, and they are a nightmare to deal with. Yes, it's true this gym sucks BIGTIME! I bought "TeamBuy" online deals for this gym for a 3 month membership for both me and my wife, with the stipulation being to be signed up by July 2012. My wife used hers with no issues earlier this year- besides getting the typical hardsell on a full membership. So I go in there today, after booking ahead (as stipulated on the coupon details) saying I had a TEAMBUY coupon and wanted to set an appt to get my 3 month membership going. The girl answering the phone confirmed 4 o'clock. When I actually arrive there they tell me that the deal was fraudulent and TeamBuy was supposed to refund everyone. DAFUQ????! I relate the fact that my wife had the same coupon with no issues and that the person answering their phone had no issues booking me an appt with a TeamBuy coupon. So why would Golds honor one coupon but not another....?!!!! DUMB. I feel sorry for the workers there stuck having to enforce policy at a company that doesnt know what it's doing at all. It seemed like Golds Langley was really trying to make a change. They let I a lot of staff, changed management, worked on surface stuff. So much so was done in the short term, I have several positive reviews on yelp and Facebook. Unfortunately it looks like it was cosmetic. I read some of the not great reviews and I have to say I love this place. I came to in from LA and right away the staff was fantastic and worked hard on getting me the membership that was right for me. Vanessa gave me a tour around and was super helpful. The facilities are incredible and I love the fact that there is even a 25m pool. On top of that I thought the cafe was great as well... having a list of all macro nutrients of the different shakes and smoothies. I really enjoy this club. Thank you. read more

Worst gym experience, I guess I still have some living to do but what an experience! The company charged me my membership fee before the gym was completed. When I asked for my 30 day refund they would not give me the full amount. Then they would only cancel my membership if I paid a cancelation fee or find another person that would take my membership. I left the manager's office to think about my options. The next day he informed me that he had transferred my membership so someone else without my permission. There are many other good gyms in Langley but in my opinion Gold's is not one of them. read more

Do not join if you need childminding for any child under 18 months. It is impossible to get in as they have only 2 spots and you have to call the same morning at 8:30 to book it - when you do they tell you the spots are already full. I was baffled at how I was supposed to plan to get into the gym. Killed my goals of getting in 5 days a week. They sold me the childminding service without telling me about this hitch. I had to go in at 5am so that my hubby could watch the baby before he went to work. Totally missed the point of joining, which was to be active during the day and take baby along. Gold's ignored my concerns with their misleading sale to me of this unusable service (I tried 5 people at their location and received no responses). DO NOT JOIN. Membership Card/FOB - Never received after waiting 3 months and asking about it every single time I went in. My request to use the "FREE" personal trainer consultation they sold me with my package was completely ignored. I was bounced around like a pinball and ignored every time I tried to find out how they might rectify or make up for the inconvenience. Locked in to a 2y contract even though I can't !@#@ use the service. I hate this gym. I truly believe they love doing this to people as their contract still ensures you pay them for 2y and they don't have to do anything for you. No genuine care for people's health or improvement. Formerly a member of Richmond Gold's Gym, I transferred here after I moved to Langley and they offered a 50% off rate. When I attempted to sign up 6 months after my membership at Richmond ended, they told me the promotion expired as I had to transfer immediately even though the letter never says anything about an expiration. Anyway I had a wicked student rate carry through at $13.86 bi-weekly and their excuse for not honouring the 50% discount was that my rate was too good. I ended up sticking around at my regular rate for another 6 months only to have Victor Chan (Owner) tell me that I have a problem with my account. He wants payment for the entire 6 months that I wasn't even there! I told him not a chance and he called me a scammer! What a joke! Is this fool that desperate for money? He tells me if I don't pay, he's going to ruin my credit... go ahead VICTOR! Instead of continuing business with me and my wife paying him about $700/year together he said he'd rather we leave so that's what we did! Let me just say this about this gym. We only went here because it was conveniently close and they have decent hours. However, that's all they have going for it. Half the cardio machines aren't working or are always "under repair", lockers are constantly broken, the pool is usually cloudy and questionable, and the hot tub is just a cesspool that looks cleaned once a month. You have muscle roid monkeys stripping down to their underwear to flex and watch themselves in the mirror everywhere (no joke) Weights are always missing and scattered throughout the gym where you are constantly searching for everything. I'm so glad we finally got out of this place. Do yourself a favour and go to a better place. We're considering Anytime Fitness but are going to try out several free passes in the next while. I wrote many reviews concerning this Golds Gym in Langley and most of my comments were about the swimming pool and hot tub. I mentioned every time for months and on the that the aquatic facilities are forever closed due to "maintenance or repairs". After many months of not going to this gym, I went there today. Low and behold both the pools are closed indefinitely for repairs or maintenance. No sign in sight for work to be done. If you want aquatic facilities (which this gym has but they seldom work), then BEWARE. You will be very disappointed. read more

Been going to Gold's for a year now and love it. It's huge and has so much equipment that even at peak times it never feels overcrowded and I've never had to wait for a machine. It has a great selection of equipment, classes, and trainers. My husband and son have been training with Marco and have learned a ton. The pool and hot tub are great, and usually quiet. The individual infrared saunas in the change rooms are great for after a workout as well. It's always immaculate, I've never been and not seen cleaners working. I've had memberships at a few other gyms in the past and hand down Gold's is the best. read more

We have contacted multiple people at multiple numbers and the only thing that is consistent is that "the Langley Gold's Gym is completely separate from the other locations". This means that when it comes time to receiving payment for product, you are s*#$ out of luck. They owe quite a bit of money and it looks like they won't be paying for it any time soon. I bought a Groupon to try this gym out. It is very big, with a big pool, Infrared Sauna, hot tub. I only used the sauna which was nice and Very decent equipment and tons of cardio. The front staff are very nice, Marco the trainer is awesome, but management is rude. They sit on their phones in their offices and if they are walking around the gym, they don't appear friendly or even make eye contact with members let alone say hello. The age range of members avg is 20 tos 30's. There rates vary (bi weekly payments which is a rip off) and they don't seem to care whether you sign up or not. read more

Was a member of Gold's Gym a couple years back and was disappointed​ by the lack of cleanliness, machines always OOO and customer service needed some improvement. Thought I would try again in January 2018 and I am pleased with the changes (enough for me to post a review which I rarely do). Owners invested in a variety of improvements: modern facility elements and decor, large screens, new cafe...etc quite an investment. Equally noticable is the change in staff - excellent team at the front desk (positive and engaged) and a great management team. Bought my membership from Thomson, Sales Manager, who is nothing short of professional, approachable and very pleasant to deal with. Congrats Gold's Gym. I signed up at Gold's Gym in Langley when they were about to open - since that time I have had nothing but issues with both the staff at Gold's as well as AFS the Financial Institute they use to take out dues from members. Unfortunately if you have any type of problem with your automatic dues withdrawal the staff at the Gold's Gym does not know how to help you. They can not look into your account and tell you why 2 or 5 consecutive payments have been taken out of your account. Your only option is to call AFS (who is not familiar with the gym or your contract) and try to figure out what the problem is. Often I have had 2 consecutive payments taken out and then at a later day one of the payments (the unexplained payment) gets credited back to my account. In the summer of 2009 AFS took over $150 out of my account within 48 hours. When Gold's owes you money you will have to wait a least a month to receive a cheque. I have had too many issues with dues to list. What I have found most frustrating is the turn over in staff - you will never deal with the same person twice. There is a new "Manager" every few months. When you experience a problem - everyone that works there will tell you that they can help you - then they will pass you off to another person and so on. Most recently I have had the most upsetting of problems with Gold's. I have been patiently waiting to cancel my contract (believing it to be a two year term). At spoke to a few people at the front about cancelling - when the "Membership Manager" brought up my account she told me that they had made a mistake and set my account up as open end (which means I can cancel at anytime without paying a fee). Breanna (who is no longer with the company) informed me that "I had got lucky" because they had set me up with an open end. Actually it was Dakota aka Dax a "Manager" that changed my contract to open end (after all the trouble I had had he said I could cancel at anytime without fee). Dax is no longer with Gold's. At the time I chose to stay at the gym - reassured that I would not have anymore problems with my membership. *I forgot to mention I was entered into the Gold's computer twice - while I was having problems with my membership - the other "Jolene" was put into collections. What a nice surprise! There isn't a better feeling than receiving a collections bill for the balance of your term. On Aug 27th, 2010 I cancelled my membership at Gold's Gym in Langley - Breanna spoke to me about my cancellation - we signed my cancellation form and that was that. I had to give them 30 days notice (standard) and my last payment would come out at the end of Sept. I continued to use the gym well into Sept and then joined another gym closer to home, relieved that I was finally finished with Gold's and all the trouble that came along with my membership. I soon noticed that when the took out my last payment they took out an extra payment (at that time I was willing to give them the extra payment rather than go through the hassle of trying to explain to anyone). BUT--- then the took out another payment in Oct... I emailed and called - the UBC Gold's Customer Service emailed me a Refund Request Form - I filled it out and faxed it to them. *I have a email from UBC Customer Service stating that they had taken the payments out in error and yes - they owed me money. I thought that I would receive a cheque in the next month - then another payment came out. When I spoke to Kalena at the Langley location she told me that she had spoken to Sharon at the Head Office - she told me that my cancellation was not processed by mistake and she was looking into everything and would call me in the morning. That exact day I went to the gym and spoke to the new "Front Desk Manager" that was very nice and understanding - she told me that she had talked to Kalena and that she was taking care of everything. NO ONE CALLED ME that morning. I called later that morning - I was told that Kalena could no longer speak about my membership and that I would not have to speak to Andre the "General Manger". I spoke to him on Friday, Oct 22 - I explained what happened and told him that they had made an error but that I had moved on and was at another gym. He argued with me and was very rude - he ended up hanging up on me. Later that day I spoke to Demetra - he was very understanding and worked for the owner - I was sure he would take care of me. As on Monday - nothing - no phone calls, emails - I went down to the gym to speak to Andre directly - he told me that people make mistakes and that it is too bad. He said he is not responsible for the previous manager that signed off on my cancellation, etc. He was rude, he checked his Blackberry while I was talking and took a call. He straight out didn't care that I was upset or that they had made a mistake. I walked out of there today crying. I have never been treated so poorly anywhere in my life. read more

I can't speak for the business practices, but the gym itself is pretty nice. I generally look for one thing: good rowing-related equipment. On that score, this branch was reasonable. The weight rooms and the cardio equipment was in good shape, clean, and operational. The ergs were brand new Concept 2 Dynamic IRs, which is the latest and greatest in rowing machine technology. The ergs themselves were clean, but they also clearly get heavy use. The drive cords were in terrible shape, and were so bad that I thought it might snap during use. The cord itself was badly frayed and felt oblong under my fingers, indicating that half of it had been ground away by wear. I mentioned it to the floor staff, and they promised to get right on it. Sadly, I was unable to verify that they fixed the problem because I had to leave fairly soon after, but they took my concerns seriously. Which is great! read more

I joined when it first opened and was very excited about the pool, the yoga classes and the juice bar. However, the pool, yoga and juice bar was months opening up and no reduced membership fees were offered. The gym has great equipment, however I am concerned as to whether this business is in trouble as things are breaking down and not being fixed. Simple light bulbs, one of the hot saunas has not been fixed in a while as well as some of the knobs on the machines. The women's washroom has a broken toilet since it opened and the same stain has been there since February 2009. The gym is filthy in the women's changing room floor. You must take flip flops. If they paid attention to the broken and dirty things this would be a 5 star gym. read more

I have/had membership since Sep /2011. I had to put an hold on my membership due to medical reason, I sent them my medical certificate on Sep 2012 - but money was kept going out. I phoned Gym and ABC Financial (billing company) - Gold Gym never (up to today) sent my medical certificate to ABC Financial. I had to Send medical certificate to ABC Financial personally and when the account started to hold (they still took Club Enhancement Fee of $89 - the contract said $59) I talk to customer service Lauren few times via e-mail then Lauren agreed to cut me a cheque - aroun Oct/Nov of 2012 now in March 2013 - never got the cheque, never return my calls or emails. I contacted BBB and BBB said Gold Gym never responded. BAD business!! I just cancel my membership through ABC Financial and it is going to take 30 days to stop the payment. read more

The kids that works here have no customer service skills and are very unfriendly. Check your cc statement cuz they like to overcharge! They dont have places to fill your water bottle there and no water fountains, there is no air in the ladies only and no many of thegood machines. Gold's Gym Langley needs to get up closer to speed with Port Coquitlam in the performance aspect: cardio needs work, we need to see more action subbing in the pool, that candy apple needs fruit hanging from it, the builders need a lot of tweaks on the equipment. That said: the builders needs to be more respectful of the equipment, load correctly, help the inferior members, learn to speak when spoken to, not to lay hands on the brethren who do not wish it so. The staff needs improvement and currently looks like a fifty-dollar, Canadian AHL, King-bill subsidiary of Coquitlam. Broadway as double-juniour is going to need instruction from the 2 franchises as there are not unlimited "goods" with unlimited "work." The ladies are contributing well and that seems to be a gold standard with Golds Gym. I think the kids are lifting well and with the post-fight revamp of the cardio the place has a chance at being that Studio 54/ wedding-work, revitalization spark-plug most communities need. It's a great physical space with tonnes of footage and a vast array of opportunities for martial advancement. The big screens are good and the programming appears mildly intelligent or first blush. Keep up the good work for those who are doing it, & for those who just like to drink, talk, and cluck-- bugger off! Parking is good. Entrance and exit is good. Climate control is pretty good-- if we all do well we can have a couple more degrees. The chain is good-- need more big plates; earn it! read more

I just want to share my experience. My wife didn't even had an idea that she is getting into a 3 year contract. She thought it was a one year contract. Sales men are so smart in Gold Gym langley. I think they get huge incentive to fool people. They wont even come on the phone once you take the membership You can only write an email. They will charge you a huge cancellation fees if you want to get out of contract. My advise to all of you get into YMCA / Recreation you do not have to get into a 3 year forced contract. In YMCA and Surrey Recreation centre you can cancel anytime without any question. I am also gonna report this to BBB and make sure that they do not repeat it to any one. Gold's Gym provides excellent equipment and a state of the fitness experience. Compared to my previous time at fitness world, I was really happy with the cleanliness and equipment provided by the facility Although a lot of others seem to have had a negative experience with their administrative staff, I recently had quite a positive experience. Initially, there was a misunderstanding regarding the cancellation of my contract from a different location in the lower mainland. (I needed to cancel due to a move.) Similar to most other people's experiences, front desk staff were unable to help me, but did quickly refer me to someone who could. I spoke with Safana from the Langley location. She was extremely helpful in looking into and eventually resolving the misunderstanding. Within a matter of days the issue was corrected. read more

The facilities are good - starting to look a little shabbier now that they've been opened a few years and members have come/gone (e.g. decreased revenues). Hours were cut - which was key for us, as I would lift late at night, often well past 11 pm. If you do elect to sign up, PLEASE keep very close records of all payments made, papers signed and conversations held. If you opt for payment by credit card, check to ensure they are taking out the amount and it is the correct amount. The financial accounting of this business is beyond fathomable...thank god I am Type A and keep copious notes and records on anything to do with money...in the last chapter of the ongoing Gold's Gym saga - which will be the final entry, as I've simply lost patience and we've cancelled our memberships - is that they finally 'found' a payment I made by credit card in Jan 2011 and applied it against the account in April 2011...now to fight to have them dismiss the interest charges they are trying to hit us with. Don't bother. They are way to expensive. The staff turnover ratio is through the roof! The gym itself is filthy and they keep changing the janitorial company. The underground parking is not secure and does not have any cameras or security guards. My car got broken into there. The gym itself has been broken into numerous times and equipment gets stolen and not replaced. Over half the treadmills don't function properly with the incline broken or TV does not work. DO NOT GO HERE. I am a current member, and as a favour to them because I was enjoying them gym tried signing on a bunch of my friends. I currently pay $20 a month, and was told that they no longer honour my rate for me to pass on to friends because of how low it was, but that my friends could sign on for only $30 a month. I verified this with a few of their staff in person, and here's where things went wrong... We sat in their office (me, with two of my friends), and we were told that they actually COULD honour my rate, "match it exactly" for $20 a month for them. We verified a couple times that yes, the total for the year would come to roughly $240 plus tax. wrote up the contract (which we couldn't see, they SCAM you and do it electronically now so you can't read what you're signing. It was read out to us but their representitive failed to tell us that we were signing a bi-weekly $20 payment, not monthly as previously discussed.) The only time you see the contract is after you already signed it, and it prints out DOWNSTAIRS. We got home and read the fine-print, and realized that we had been ripped off.) Upon calling to clarify what we signed, and even after explaining to their general manager what happened, we we're told it was due to 'miscommunication' and they couldn't honour it. In fact, they wouldn't even honour the THIRTY dollars a month. This is crazy considering I spoke with people that week and was told they would do 30/month. On top of this, my friend and I were initially scammed because our 'sign on fee' was $150, and for my friends today it was only $50.... so that puts an extra 100 each previously from my friend and I in their pocket.
