I love going into this store, even if just for browsing. The wonderful fragrant smell of coffee always hits you as you walk in. There are many specialty items to browse through. We purchased a few packs of sticky finger scones. they were easy to bake and good. We were there during the pandemic and noticed that they sanitized the pens for credit card signing. After using the sanitized pens, you put them in the used pile. They also had a giant bottle of hand sanitizer in the front of the store. What they could do better though, is to limit the number of people going into the store. There isn't a lot of space to spread out in the store. When we went in June, we were the only ones inside but then we went back in August, and it was too crowded for my comfort. read more

Bottom Line: Coffee, gourmet foods, and kitchen gadgets. This store has a great name and super cute logo. The delicious smell of coffee wafting out the front door makes it easy to drift in and take a gander. Inside there are tons of gourmet food items and various kitchen gadgets, tea towels, and such. I have a well stocked kitchen so I didn't add anything to my collection but I did check out some local products like Cape May Honey and a Beach Plum Vinaigrette or salad dressing. In hindsight I wish had asked about the Beach Plum dressing because I think it might have been a fun add to my pantry. Love the Cook is home to Cape May Roasters so you can also buy coffee here. You can get a fresh cup or a bag of whole beans or ground coffee to go. For those who prefer tea they carry an assortment of Republic of Tea teas which are great quality. Nice quality stuff and worth a gander. I would definitely visit again and perhaps try the coffee next time. read more

Great selection of high quality, interesting and some hard to find kitchen items. Hot coffee samples and a large variety of coffee beans ground fresh. Good gourmet food selection if a bit pricey but its nice to treat yourself now and then. Helpful staff. I do not understand why there is a tip jar at the cash register and in the back of the store. As much as I really want to make a purchase here to support local business, it's either really overpriced but beautiful plates from Italy or just products from Stonewall Kitchen (or its sister brands like Tillen Farms). The whole store feels like a Stonewall Kitchen store which nowadays you can easily get it at ShopRite too. Happy to pay overpriced products as long as it's under 10 but not on a brand that is everywhere these days. read more

Their coffee is amazing. Great selection and they can grind them for you. The staff is quite friendly. The store is half ADA friendly you can get to the first level of the store it is narrow but ok, no possible way to get to the half level (this is average for the mall though) 4.5/5 read more

Love the Cook is one of those stores where you could easily spend $200-300, just because it is full of things you never knew you needed until you saw them. Ten different kinds of popcorn, popcorn toppings, cookbooks, coffee, tea, and every single type of kitchen or cooking-related item imaginable. The store was a blast- one of my favorites on Washington Street- but it was a bit crowded, so we didn't spend as long inside as we wanted. But I did manage to get some delicious popcorn & a caramel pecan popcorn topping, and a birthday present for my mom. Love! read more

I can't say how many times I've gone into Love the Chef. My boyfriend hates when I make him go in there because he knows it's inevitable and that I probably won't walk out with anything. He's right; I've only made two purchases here. A spoon tea infuser and raspberry honey mustard pretzel dip. Their prices are your run of the mill Cape May tourist prices, but they have a ton of little knick knacks and 'oh how clever's' worth checking out. They also have a generic brand of loose teas and coffees, as well as a couple of their own Cape May blends. read more

This store as all kinds of interesting cooking utensils, spices, sauces and just about anything else you can think of. The prices are reasonable, and the store smells absolutely wonderful when you walk in. I am not much of a cook, but I would recommend this store to anyone. read more

This is one of our "must stop in" shops every time we visit, although it seems like we look at many of the same types of items annually, yet some of our favorites that we bought several year's ago are no longer available. Visited October, 2012. Lots of fun stuff to look at in this place. Lots of gadgets that will prove handy for the cook in all of us. Bought a mug. Beware of old stock concerning the coffee. Also, I was disappointed that they sell you 3/4 pound bags, like grocery stores do, rather than a true coffeehouse that can weigh and sell you any amount you wish. I purchased some fresh coffee, from a new stock bag they opened. I first asked for 1/2 lb.; I got a "you must be an idiot" look, so I increased it to a pound, which then prompted another Look, so I asked, "You don't sell coffee by the pound?". The lady said no, we do 3/4 of a pound. The way she said it made me think there should have been a "duh!" at the end of that. (My buddy, whom I rely upon for honesty, agrees that this was indeed the case, and that I wasn't being overly sensitive.) In any case, I asked her to grind it for paper filter. She ground it, but later, when I opened the bag, it was not a paper grind; it was powdery and fine, like espresso. I compared the grind to a store bought bag of Dunkin' Turbo, ground for paper, just to confirm. I tried to engage in conversation with the clerk, but she was not interested, even talking about scone mix or my pointing out things that I thought were neat. I felt rushed and as if it was all about money. The store was pretty dead by the way. I complimented the fresh coffee smell from the bulk bag and said I wish I had my Tupperware so I could seal it up and keep it really fresh...she told me to store my coffee in a ziploc bag, which I know is not the best way to go if ya wanna keep it fresh, so take what the staff says with a grain o' salt, and do your own research! Pros: lots of fun stuff, good scone mix selection, collect ten cards get 3/4lb. of coffee free program Cons: overpriced, staff seemed "burned out" and a lot of the bulk coffee (in the bins) was stale. I worked for a couple of well known coffee suppliers for five years, so please trust me on this. Check your grind before you take off. And please don't store your coffee in a ziploc bag-- use Tupperware. :) read more

Great little store filled with interesting items. My husband & I love to cook so this is our favorite type of shop. We went back twice, despite the staff. Both times we were there they did nothing but complain and grumble; not the best atmosphere for happy tourists to enter into. However, all the cool gadgets and food items helped us to buy things both times. The owner might want to work on some customer service training for the staff! read more

I come here on vacation once a year and I love this store. When I walked in I smelled and seen the coffee. I grabbed a sample and asked if I could have a Splenda so I can try it. The young girl behind the counter told me it's for the coffee that customers purchase. She said no. So I threw the sample out and walked around but refused to buy anything. They couldn't give me a five cent sugar.... read more

This is a cool little shop with a good amount of kitchen equipment and foods here. As soon as my girlfriend and I walked in, we just smelled coffee! We decided to check out the coffees they had to offer and they had a vast array of flavors from Pecan Sticky Bun to Blueberry Crumble. They also have an decent amount of hot sauces, bbq sauces, peanut butter, etc. It is also great that you can sample a lot of the sauces. This is a cool little shop for those who enjoy to cook and looking for some great ideas. read more

Absolutely abysmal service. Waited to have balsamic vinegar poured so long we did it ourselves. We were then chastised for doing so. Attempted to return what we bought to be told no returns on food. I spoke to the worker and told her chastising customers is not good business practice. She said she disagrees. At Love the Cook, the customer is certainly not always right. I will never return. Love this store. I've been devoted to the coffee for years, and am always delighted with the unique kitchen finds and food there.

Immediately greeted by the comforting scent of fresh coffee. Although many items are expensive, it's totally worth it to have them. This is easily one of my favorite stores in town. I love the Jamaican Me Crazy coffee. It's great hot or on ice. read more
