Their…read moreappraisal was unfortunately very incorrect (any trained gemologist would not have made this error.) they identified an early composite ruby as natural, despite having hundreds of obvious gas bubbles that would indicate that the stone is an early form of synthetic. I don't know about their jewelry quality, but their appraisal services are inaccurate and they should not be charging good money to appraise pieces this poorly.

Some of my pieces were unmarked because they were old and purchased outside of the country. The guy only used a jeweler's loop to see if he could find a stamp for the carat weight.When the unmarked pieces were classified as junk, I asked why he did not apply the acid test to test the purity of the gold. The guy got very upset and said he didn't want to waste his acid and I wasn't letting him do his job! All I did was ask a simple questions about about a standard industry practice. Then he told me I could go somewhere else. His questionable behavior led me to believe he either didn't know what he was doing or he was trying to cheat me! I them took the same gold to Fancy That Fine Jewelry store in Stockbridge, where everything was open and transparent, i.e. no tall wall! I could see exactly what the lady was doing. When she saw no carat marking on some of the gold, she asked me if it had been purchased outside of the country. Then she said she would have to conduct a...guess what.. acid test to test its purity, which she did!!!! While some of the pieces turned out to be junk, 4 of the pieces rejected as junk at 123 Gold Buyers turned out to be 18 carat gold!! I ended up getting a nice chunk of change from Fancy That Fine Jewelry store. Bottom line...do your research before you sell anything, expect openess and transparency in your transaction and choose another gold buyer! You'll come out better in the long run.
