When my daughter asked to hold one the guy working that day (Mike) grabbed a bearded dragon and gave it to her instead. The bearded dragon just sat there with his eyes closed. She immediately fell in love and he said he had everything we needed for him and it would cost us about 300.00. He said he was 3 years old and just cleared medically for sale. He was very calm and cold and Mike said that's because he was in brumation currently and also his enclosure there wasn't warm enough for him. He gave us a tank, some sand, a log, a bowl, and a dual light with a ceramic heating bulb and mini UVB light. He said that's all we needed. I asked about food and he said just give him as many crickets as he wants every day and calcium 2x a week. We got out of there for about 400.00. As soon as we got home we started doing research an found out the tank was too small for a full grown bearded dragon, the substrate was wrong for a bearded dragon, the UVB light and heating element were also incorrect. The feeding instructions were wrong, bearded dragons need a variety of bugs weekly and fresh mixed greens daily. They didn't tell us he needed hiding spots and climbing spots. We ended up ordering the CORRECT size cage for a bearded dragon and tons of other things he needed we were either told incorrect information about or just not told entirely. Then as we continued researching, we realized that this bearded dragon was very ill. We had to rush him to an emergency reptile vet where we were told that this bearded dragon had obviously been mistreated for a very long time and poorly cared for. He was extremely malnourished, underweight, dehydrated, and they had also found a mass in his abdomen. He then recommended euthanasia or attempting to syringe feed him to see if he might come back from this. Since we were told he was 3 years old we obviously wanted to try everything we could to save him. On the way home from the vet a different employee from the store found my personal Facebook profile and then continued to inform me the bearded dragon was at the end stages of his life and that it's my fault for purchasing a clearly sick animal and trusting their employee to know the proper information and care for this animal. They admitted to knowingly selling and profiting off a sick animal that was dying. They emotionally manipulated a 7 year old little girl and her whole family just to make a quick buck and move product. They refuse to make this right. I've attempted to speak with the owner multiple times to no avail and after the incredibly unprofessional conversation with this last employee Tina I'm done trying to give chances. I will be reporting to the BBB and calling the department of Riverside animal abuse division to report the conditions these animals are being kept in and the state of the animal they sold me.

For my son's fourth birthday, my husband and I decided to surprise him with a frog. He had been asking for one for months, and the day before his birthday, we finally decided to make it happen. We had done quite a bit of research into what owning a poison dart frog would entail, but we had never actually owned a frog before, so I definitely still had a lot of questions. I went into LLLReptile the day before my son's birthday, and Niko spent so much time with me. He walked me through the entire process, answered all of my questions, and made sure I actually understood what we were getting into and how to properly care for our new frog. We decided to have LLLReptile build us a custom terrarium, and I was originally quoted a 24 to 48 hour turnaround. Since my son's birthday was the very next day, Niko suggested that I take the frog home in a small temporary enclosure so I would at least have something to give my son on his actual birthday. Then, later that same day, Niko called me and told me he had rushed the terrarium so it would be ready in time for my son's birthday. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it back over there before they closed, but I was honestly blown away that he had gone out of his way to get it finished so quickly for us. The next day, I brought my son with me to pick it up, and the terrarium was absolutely beautiful. It had live plants, water features, and Niko had even incorporated skeletons because I had mentioned how much my son loves them. There was a skeleton water dish and a skull tucked into the habitat. Those little details made it feel like it had been created specifically for him, and seeing it on his birthday made the whole experience even more special. Niko wasn't there when we picked it up, but Shane was, and Shane was every bit as warm, patient, and helpful. Shane also owns poison dart frogs, so having that firsthand experience was incredibly valuable for me as a brand-new frog owner. Shane walked me through the differences between male and female poison dart frogs, shared what to expect as we get started, and even gave me tips and tricks for dealing with the fruit flies. I just felt like everyone at LLLReptile genuinely cared about making this experience as wonderful as possible for our family. Between the education, the time they spent answering my questions, the care that went into the terrarium, and the extra effort they made to have everything ready for my son's birthday, they exceeded every expectation. My son was absolutely thrilled, and I could not write this review fast enough. Thank you to Niko, Shane, and everyone at LLLReptile for helping make his fourth birthday so special. Their toucans and parrots were spectacular. Yes the store is noisy but the birds seemed very lively and happy. They had huge tortoises as well and some fun reptiles too. The owners seemed to know their animals and I wish them well in their plans to build a larger educational children's zoo here in North County.
