First off, a friend of mine had found Meg's work off of Instagram and suggested that I reach out to her. Mind you, I was planning an "enchanted elopement" in less than a week and a half. Luckily, since it was an elopement -- we were pretty flexible and so was Meg! My husband and I had never been to Hawaii so we knew nothing about the islands or Kauai. I tried to research as much I could but was a bit overwhelmed. Meg was more than happy to make suggestions on different vendors, location and what was the best time for shooting. We settled for Ke'e Beach. I am so glad she suggested that because it provided us different types of photos -- jungle, beach, sunset, etc. The timing was also perfect for a natural lighting with the sun and waves. Meg's overall presence and personality matched ours, too. From previous photographers I have dealt with (from my family & friend's weddings), she did not push us to do things we weren't comfortable with. She was so laid back! Also, we aren't the most romantic and subtle type of couple. We are the loud and silly type. She was able to capture us perfectly in the photos! After she spent about 3 hours with us, we went our separate ways. Then a couple of hours later, I received a few sneak peak photos!! How awesome is that! I got the remainder of my photos in less than two weeks. She took more than she had promised too! Now, I want to add that I am in the film & tv industry. We booked an engagement session with Naomi in October 2017 at Ke'e beach. We had awful rain throughout the entire day. We were very concerned that the engagement session would not happen. We heard from Naomi throughout the afternoon about what we should do about the rain, alternative times / dates if the rain persisted. I was pretty panicked because I had paid for hair and makeup and I really wanted the photos done. Naomi was relaxed and wonderful throughout the session! Thankfully the rain dissipated. What drew us to the session was that the purchase of photos was completely optional, which was a huge bonus for us since we were initially unsure if we were going to keep the pictures. We are so glad we did! The photos turned out so beautiful that we decided to use them as our maternity pictures. Our photographer, Obrayan, was patient, kind, and incredibly helpful throughout the shoot. He had even researched and saved several maternity poses for us to try, which made the experience so much easier. I choose swell amongst all the Kauai photographers because the price was very reasonable, included free download of the pictures and touch-up. I truly felt comfortable when Kristen (Swell Photographer/owner) called me after my initial inquiry email to answer any questions, locations and ideas, she exemplified the Aloha spirit. When we arrived in Kauai, the weather was not in my favor on my booked session. No worries, Kristen accommodated my request to move the session. Additionally, my fiancée and I decided to bring our wedding gown and suit to Kauai, so we can take pre-wedding pictures instead. If your getting married, take as many pictures in your wedding dress because the day of the wedding is not enough time. So I choose to take my pictures 1 hour before sunset on the South side at Mahaulepu Beach. Kristen got pictures with the mountains behind us, sail boat, black rock, sand, oceans and etc. All the pictures turned out perfect without touch ups but I did get some touch ups with my hair and people in the background. After sharing my pictures on FB, received positive comments and likes of the pictures.
