Josh doesn't have a Yelp yet so I wanted to be the first to write about this guy! Me and the hubs had a civil ceremony in our hometown of San Diego but wanted some nice "wedding style" photos while we were in Kauai for our honeymoon. First and foremost I reached out to about 3 other photographers on the island, the prices were a bit high for a short session. Also because I wasn't familiar with the area I asked the other photographers if they had any suggestions, most of them were pretty vague and didn't give me much feedback. I e-mailed Josh via his website, he replied pretty quickly and I sensed the enthusiasm in his e-mails he suggested a few places in the vicinity of the area we were staying at, I Googled them (all really beautiful) and his prices were very reasonable! He was our dude! Josh is really a chill and nice guy and also very professional (he was early and flexible with our meet time) and makes you feel relaxed throughout the whole session. Even the hubs who isn't really the let's pose and take pictures type said it was a cool experience. Josh is so nice and low key, within minutes it felt like an easy-going friend was joining us with a camera. We posed for a few but for the most part just enjoyed the ceremony and the beach while Josh stood by and captured the magic. Whereas being photographed can feel awkward (at least for me), we didn't feel awkward at all, felt natural. Within weeks Josh sent a link so we could download the edited photos and I was blown away. Natural, joyful, tender, beautifully composed and lit, simply stunning. Josh expertly told the story of our wedding and captured us a couple. I get permasmile looking through them, friends and family ooh and aah, and I've already suggested others get married in Kauai with Josh as their photographer. We booked Josh for our small wedding on Hanalei Bay. Not all photographers will do a small event. I enjoyed Josh through the entire process; from first email, to organizing and planning, to Wedding Day, day after and delivering the pictures. First of all, I didn't have to think about him. He just did his job! Second of all, WWWWOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!! I couldn't have asked for more or for better. There were so many options of so many good pictures; I have about 180 saved for a photo album. Not to mention the ones we'll blow up into canvas. The pictures belong in a magazine, if I do say so myself. It was like there was a camera in my head capturing all my memories, everything I looked at with my own eyes. He is a storyteller. And I have never felt so beautiful in pictures, ever. We booked Josh for a family shoot - three kids, six adults - near our condo in Poipu Kai. Josh picked a great location for our shoot (Shipwreck beach) and everything went really smoothly on the day of. He was good with the kids and definitely had good ideas in mind for where to actually set us up and what to have us do. He was very low key and I have to admit I wasn't sure if his laid back approach would have super results - it just went so easily compared to other family shoots I've been a part of. Well, the final results were great. Everyone looks good and he even got the kids to look at the camera without making goofy faces (well, most of the time). The use of light and framing is all really on point. He did a phenomenal job with us. If you need a photographer, Josh is the man - you should book him and trust the process. He's great!! read more

First off-- why am I not able to put a million stars here on Yelp?! Joshua is the best!! Do not even think twice if you are booking him for any photo session! If there is one word to describe his work it would be: ARTISTIC. Joshua's eye, skills and timing are impeccable! One of the priorities I had when I went back home to Kauai to plan my wedding was finding a photographer to do our engagement shoot and possibly our wedding. Not knowing where to start-- I turned to social media and found myself looking through hash tags and came across Joshua's profile. Just looking at his shots on his Instagram and then looking at his portfolio online-- I reached out to him instantaneously! Needless to say we booked an engagement session with him and plan to have him shoot our wedding as well. Joshua responds to his emails quickly and has a lot of great suggestions for where to host your shoot at. When we did our shoot, he had every minute planned to every detail and got our sunset shoot right when the sky was a beautiful orange, red and yellow. He even got some great candid pictures of my fiancé and I. One of my favorite shots was a candid one he got of my mom helping be fix my haku and my dress- it was a special moment that he captured. Once my fiancé and I got the photos from our shoot, I couldn't decide which one I loved the most-- they were all fantastic! I could not choose which picture I wanted to frame first. For me, having a person take my pictures is already award enough-- but from the moment I met Joshua, it was like we had already been friends! He was great! My Husband and I wanted to have some "wedding" photos done during our stay in Kauai. We had a small civil ceremony a few weeks prior so we wanted to have something we could share with our family and friends. Josh was really great to work with. He made the whole experience very comfortable(my husband and I don't love taking pictures or being the center of attention:hence the elopement) He met us with a pretty good idea of when and where he wanted to shoot and what he wanted us to do which helped make the hour go by effortlessly. I was already happy with our choice in Josh after our shoot and then we got our photos.....we were absolutely blown away. I love that his pictures are artistic, and although I do love looking at my husband there is so much more to each photo than just he and I. All I can say is Josh is amazing. We had him as our photographer for our engagement photos and wedding photos. Josh is very easy going and quick to communicate back to you about arrangements. My fiancé and I had some last minute engagement shots taken by Josh while we were on vacation in Kauai. We are notorious among our friends and family for taking the worst and most awkward photos. We figured engagement shots should be a good warm up for the wedding. Josh was awesome. He picked a beautiful location. He was so calm, reassuring and gave great suggestions for candid and posed photos. He had them back to us in two and a half weeks (he's fast!) and they are just beautiful. There are so many wonderful candid shots that we can't possibly pick just one or two. He took a couple of goofballs and made us look beautiful, relaxed and intimate without us even knowing it. We are so glad we chose Josh for our wedding/elopement ceremony in Kauai. My wife did a lot of research on local photogs and finally chose Josh. We met him right before the ceremony. I was a little apprehensive as a near stranger would be with us in one of most important moments. Josh, though, put us at ease - he was enthusiastic to be there, relaxed, curious, and knew when to step back and observe/shoot. The photos turned out amazing - all of our friends and family went out of their way to compliment them. We were lucky to have a rainbow and a beautiful sunset on the beach, and Josh captured it all beautifully, and in the style we told him we liked. He did such a wonderful job capturing what makes us "us" in the pictures. The work he did with the backgrounds and lighting was fantastic. I really feel like he has a gift for making beautiful photos that capture moments without all these weird poses that everyone is doing now. As we were showing everyone our photos they couldn't believe they were all taken at the same site. The way he used the trees in the background transported our photo shoot to a totally different location. We would definitely recommend Joshua to anyone that needs a photo taken on Kauai. I can not say enough about Joshua and his work as a photographer. I am a new bride who got married about 3 weeks ago. I chose Joshua to do my wedding photos on the cliff at Shipwreck's Beach near the Grand Hyatt. The shots came out beautiful and I received them around 2 weeks in an online gallery. We got 351 shots and we had him for the ceremony only which was around 1.5 hours in total. Now that I am reviewing them, I can not decide on which ones are my favorite as there are a lot of them! He has a creative eye and sees your ceremony in a special way. Joshua is incredibly sweet with soft and sincere eyes. He was unassuming during our ceremony but aggressive enough to get in and shoot in the angles that he needed. He doesn't automatically respond back to your emails but will within a day or two. Don't be alarmed. He was professional and positive and the product that you receive is well worth every penny. In fact, I don't think that he charges enough for his work. Once you receive your online gallery from him, you can download onto your computer and print away. We are using Costco to print off a couple large canvas prints to go above our bed. These pictures will hang in our house that tells a story and captures the moment of that day. He is a story teller and he captures your pictures in a artistic way.
