Colin photographed our wedding in August 2014 and we couldn't have been happier! He was extremely accommodating to our requests and most importantly, his work is second to none! The pictures came out beautifully and we are forever grateful for all Colin did to make our wedding day extra special! read more

Colin simply rocks! We were looking for a photographer that was creative and could capture the type of wedding pictures we wanted. We needed someone who knew the great spots in Chicago to capture the essence of the city. Colin was our man. He was wonderful to work with and really tried to listen and understand our needs. Plus he was fun to hang out with. (I probably hung out with him more then my own husband throughout the night). You will not be disappointed by hiring Colin and his team. They went above and beyond our expectations. I would recommend him a million times over. FANTASTIC! read more

Colin and his team were absolutely fantastic and we are extremely glad that we chose him to shoot our wedding. He is incredibly professional, courteous, flexible and above all,our wedding photos continue to draw compliments from everyone. On multiple occasions, viewers of my wedding photos bring up phrases like "magazine quality". Here are few of the reasons that made hiring Colin one the best decisions we made: -- Colin and his team are incredibly flexible. We had a Mehndi/Henna event the day before the wedding. Due to a contractual typo, the Henna artists showed up 2 hours late to the event. Colin was more than understanding of the situation and stayed an extra two hours with no issues. --Colin and his team are extremely organized. We were worried about how long taking official family portraits the day of the wedding was going to take. However, Colin had a well organized setup and layout and he shuttled all family members through in a timely, and friendly fashion. The location he scouted prior resulted in amazing family photographs. --Colin understood how best to capture the crucial moments of the wedding. After dinner was over and the main dances were finished, he pulled my wife and I aside and conducted an impromptu photo session of just the two in various locations of the wedding event venue. These are some of the best photos for the entire wedding and help us remember that first and foremost this event was about my wife and I. read more

There are a lot of reviews on here for Colin whom I am sure is amazing but I recently worked with Christie as our photographer for our wedding and can't say enough good things about working with her and the amazing photos she captured for us of our wedding day (not to mention our engagement shoot as well)!! Christie first comes off as kind of quiet and timid but she really got to know us and and never said no to a single crazy idea we had and made it all come out amazingly in film. We got many nice compliments about our wedding day but the majority were definitely in reference to the beautiful pictures Christie left us with to remember it for years to come. I am sure Colin and all his photographers do great work but I will personally recommend Christie for any special day you might have coming up!! read more

Colin is absolutely the most amazing photographer!! First of all, we live in Florida and he flew all the way there last August to shoot our engagement photos because we found out we were expecting our little girl! He came down to shoot before I began to show...the pictures were incredible and he was just so happy to make the trip for us. Fast forward to our wedding this past weekend...Colin is energetic, professional, artistic, creative, exciting...I could go on and on! The cherry on top is that his work is stunning. I would recommend him to anyone!! read more

Well honestly what can I say that hasn't already been said?! I'll start by saying you aren't going to get anyone better than Colin! He photographed our wedding in June 2016 and we were blown away at how well they turned out. Our top priority was to have awesome wedding photo's and we were so lucky we chose Colin! Colin is very professional but also does an extremely amazing job at keeping everything fun and makes you feel at ease. My wife and I were laughing the entire time we were with Colin, from the detailed planning over a couple beers, to the in the moment smiling for the camera. We wanted our pictures to stand out and we were not disappointed! Everything was so creative and artistic we could not be happier! If you are looking for a wedding photographer I would highly recommend Colin and his team! There is a reason why all of Colin's reviews have 5 stars with nothing but amazing things to say about him. Everything he does really is second to none and the recognition for his work is very well deserved!! Not only did we love our pictures but we loved working with Colin, he made our big day even more special than it already was. read more

Colin was absolutely fantastic to work with! He was extremely friendly, personable, professional, responsive and knowledgeable on where to photograph in Chicago. We felt so comfortable with him and he really got to know us as a couple and captured our personality in the engagement photo shoot. He had GREAT location recommendations and never made us feel pressured on time (we even went home to change and pick up our dog). He also photographed us with our puppy and he was a total pro. We highly recommend Colin; he helped make our photo shoot so fun and effortless, and we had a great time with him! He also did us a total favor by expediting our photo proofs so we would have them in time to make an engagement photo book for our wedding. THANK YOU SO MUCH COLIN!!! read more

Colin was fantastic! I was so lucky to have found him. Our wedding was in the burbs in a location where Colin was not familiar with. Colin went out there before the wedding and scouted out a bunch of unique locations to shoot at. During the wedding I did not notice Colin at all, but he got all these amazing pictures! He had such a fun and great attitude taking the bridal party shots. I have been in weddings where the photographer is bossy and rude, and this was not Colin at all. During the reception, I also did not notice Colin or his assistant! I never felt like there was a camera in my face or like I had to keep posing. I just had a great time and there are a ton of awesome pictures to prove it. Thanks, Colin! read more

Colin is a wonderful photographer, he enjoys Chicago and worked with us to come up with different sites and locales. He is not afraid of the cold! (or the snow) His assistant, Elena, is also very calm and personable. He knows a lot about the inner workings of weddings from his photography experience... as well as the inner workings of the camera. He is always aware of the lighting from the artistic sense, as well as the people. He caught some fantastic expressions on everyone's faces in our wedding slideshow. We were sincerely impressed, as were friends, neighbors, coworkers. Stunning! read more

We loved working with Colin. Colin made everything easy and went out of his way to spend a little time with us here or there before the wedding to make sure he knew us and that we'd be comfortable around him come the big day. Definitely recommend the engagement photos- it's fun and a really good opportunity to get used to having your picture taken and getting comfortable with yourselves, the camera, and with Colin. The photo booth was amazing - so much fun and we have so many awesome (and flattering) pictures of our family and friends. We ultimately picked Colin bc we were doing a New Years Wedding with a new Orleans style second line and a live band and we needed someone who could keep up and capture all the energy of the day. Colin's work was bright, colorful, and action packed, what we didn't expect was for how beautifully he would capture the quiet moments. His portraits and the sweet moments he caught between my wife and I and our families made us even happier with our choice of Colin. Picking a photographer can be really intimating and stressful and if I could take the stress off another couple by telling them they will be extremely happy with Colin, I will. Book Colin and worry about the other stuff. read more

I worked with Colin on a wedding for a local couple this past Saturday. As a wedding planner, I could not have asked for a better partner in making this day happen! Leading up to the wedding, he was actively involved in putting together a timeline that made sense for all of the travel from the getting ready site, to church, around the city for photos & finally the reception venue. He started earlier than he committed to & stayed later. Not only is he a pro & an artist, but an all around nice dude! Actually, his whole team was fantastic! Our bride & groom could not stop talking about how happy they were they hired him. Now, I just can't wait to see the photos! I have no doubt he will over-deliver here as well! Colin, YOU ROCK! Thanks again!! read more

Colin was incredible! His work is impeccable and he is extremely professional. In the days leading up to the wedding, Colin helped us narrow down exactly what style of photos we wanted (from skylines to gardens to candids) and the results were even better than we could've imagined. Between the engagement shoot and the wedding we now have a ton of amazing photos that we can't wait to frame. We highly recommend Colin Lyons! read more

It has been almost 2 years since Colin shot for our wedding and I still love our pictures just as much, if not more, than the day I received them. After seeing other photographers' work for our family/friends' weddings, I can say with the utmost confidence that Colin is the best. He is a true professional and the best "vendor" we had for our wedding. Book him ASAP as I anticipate his calendar fills up rather quickly. Thank you again Colin! read more

We're so happy we had Colin as our wedding photographer. He and his assistant, Elena, were the best at making the wedding day fun, easy, and stress-free, and our pictures are amazing. They showed up on our wedding day a few minutes early and we took photos of the wedding party in our apartment, the Lincoln Park Conservatory, and Millennium Park. Colin moves quickly, and we were able to get a lot of fantastic shots in a relatively short amount of time. He's decisive and knows what will look best, which means less stress on the wedding day for the bride and groom :) Also, our wedding was in mid-November when most trees have lost their leaves. Colin knew where we could find trees still in bloom. It was nice to have some photos with the beautiful colors of fall. We had some unusual requests, including a group shot at the church of over 100 guests. Colin was successful in corralling everyone in the shot, and I'm really grateful we have it. We found Colin through my friend, who used him as her wedding photographer. I was a bridesmaid in that wedding, and I remember thinking she had the best wedding photos I had ever seen. read more

Colin Lyons is awesome! I looked for wedding photographers on Yelp and I found Colin and was so glad that I did. He is incredibly talented and his photos are amazing!! He is also wonderful to work with. Anyone planning a wedding knows how over the top some vendors can be in their sales pitch and Colin was confident yet very relaxed and straight forward when my husband and I met with him. Starting with the engagement shot, we had planned to take photos on Columbus Day and it was scheduled to rain. My husband and I couldn't take any extra time off work and so Colin said we could still do it that day. He had great ideas of places to go in the city and since it was supposed to rain he had us stay close to the Art Museum which was great advice. When it started to rain we were able to go there (and he even had a membership and guest passes so it wasn't complicated) and get some really cool and unique photos. Once the rain stopped we went to Buckingham Fountain (which is my favorite Chicago landmark). Even with the rain, our photos looked great thanks to Colin (we couldn't even tell it was raining in the photos). We also got the photos really quickly since we had our engagement shoot about one month before our wedding. He had taken over 1,000 photos so we had plenty to choose from!:) On the day of the wedding Colin was just as great. He came early and took pictures of me getting my makeup and then did all the typical getting ready pictures. Then we went around the city and Colin made it go super smoothly. He had ordered a car so that the 4 of us (Colin brought another Photographer with us) could travel around and we got super creative and memorable photos from this time. It was a cold day (I got married in November) and Colin was super prepared with electric hand warmers for us. He also made it very fun! Also since we took photos around the city before the ceremony, Colin helped spot clean my dress which was definitely outside of his responsibilities but really appreciated!! For the ceremony he did great photos as well and captured some great candid moments that I am so thankful that I have documented. We also had a photo booth and our guests loved it!! As others have mentioned, guests could download the photos immediately and that was a great feature. He also captured so many moments of the reception (events, guests, details) which was so fun to get see in the final product. In Summary, Colin Lyons is a must for a wedding in Chicago! I feel confident in saying he is the BEST!! He does a great job of capturing special moments in a unique and awesome way! If you want a Photographer that will be great to work with and will provide you amazing photos (outside of just the basic posed photos) he is the Photographer for you. We loved working with him so much we are going to do a one year anniversary shoot with him! read more

As soon as I met Colin, I knew he was the right photographer to capture our wedding. Along with the amazing photos that we will cherish forever, he was great at communication, listened to exactly what we wanted and gave us great suggestions. I highly recommend Colin and am so thankful for these websites which helped guide me to him. Just hire him...you won't be disappointed. He's amazing! read more

Colin is truly a great artist!! I loved his work so much that I booked my wedding date based on his availability. I want perfect pictures for the wedding day and I know Colin is the one who can deliver. We had several meeting and countless emails and phone calls before the big day. We coordinated everything from Chicago, and he arrived in New York a day early for our wedding, just so he can take a look at the church and plan out the timeline for pictures the next day. During the ceremony, I barely noticed that he was there. He captures all the important moments, and every single photo is amazing!! We got so many compliments from family and friends. I would recommend Colin to any bride. read more

Colin is an amazing photographer. LOVE his work! He was such a pleasure to work, he is responsive and and his pictures are AMAZING. We received so many compliments about our wedding photographs and it is all because of Colin and his amazing talent. We knew when we met him we did not have to search for another photographer. We knew we made the right choice in photographers and it was an easy decision after meeting him. We had such a positive experience working with him and Elena. He was very professional, responsive, easy to work with, and most of all you could tell that he loved being a photographer. The photographs were exactly the ones we wanted to have -- unique, artistic, fun! We loved how he scoped out wedding photography sites before hand and took charge on our wedding (as we requested) to ensure we would get amazing photographs. Having him as a photographer made our wedding day less stressful because I knew we would get great wedding photos. He truly captured every emotion and detail of our wedding. Our wedding photos were amazing-- we are having a tough time picking our favorites because we honestly love them all!! We loved that our wedding photos were unqiue to us and different from other weddings -- unlike other photographers who do the same poses/locations for all the weddings they are hired to do. You can tell he is dedicated to his profession and even stayed passed his contract time (without us asking) to ensure we received photos from all our special wedding moments!!! We could not have asked for better photos or service!! We would and have highly recommended his talents to our family and friends. read more

I've been in the flower business for thirty years, and Colin is one of a handful of truly talented photographers that produce remarkable results. His sense of composition is brilliantly quick and always clever. He's compulsively and intensely creative but decisive and reassuring to his subjects. If you're discerning and want a smart portfolio of wedding photos to look at the REST OF YOUR LIFE, he's your man. read more

Colin is the best!! First of all, from the very beginning he has been super easy and flexible to work with. He is professional and quick to respond to emails and texts. We first met him in the city to discuss his style, what we wanted, etc. We loved him right away because he wasn't pushy about upgrading packages/signing a contract and didn't seem to "solicit" his company like some vendors do. He was also very flexible in finding a deal that worked for both of us. We obviously loved his portfolio and loved him after meeting with him so we signed our contract shortly after that meeting. We then scheduled our engagement session, which my fiance was less than thrilled to do. Colin was awesome though at just capturing moments and not making the session awkward. Once we got those pictures back we were even more excited that we chose Colin because our pictures were beautiful!! We were so happy we did the session also because we got to know him before our wedding day and really see what his style was like. Then came our special day. I had a very tight schedule since we had a church service on a friday and did not do a first look beforehand, and I also didn't have a day-of planner. However, we had a skype meeting a few days before and talked about important items that I wanted to make sure were captured. Colin was very organized and direct with the wedding party when he needed to be to make sure we stayed within our time frame and to make sure we didn't miss anything that was important to us. He made the day run very smoothly! Finally, came the day when he sent us our pictures. WOW. We were blown away by how amazing his work is. I could look at our pictures everyday..if I had the time to look at 2,000 pictures everyday.. because he captures EVERYTHING even when you think something was missed! If I could describe Colin in a few words I would say: chill, fun, organized, and bestphotographerever. Definitely go with Colin Lyons Photography! read more

We chose Colin as our photographer for our wedding this summer at the Chicago History Museum and we could not be happier with our pictures and every step of the process working with Colin. Colin has an amazing eye for the most beautiful shots and we were so impressed with how he was able to capture different moments. We were thrilled with how many pictures we had to choose from and how we loved each of them. Honestly, the hardest part was choosing which ones to include in our book and to frame. Not only is Colin an extremely skilled artist, he was very easy to work with. From the early planning stages to the days leading up to the wedding Colin was quick to respond to questions and always very helpful. The day of the wedding, Colin was very organized in helping us to coordinate taking pictures at multiple city locations and in being able to coordinate a large bridal party in making the pictures look polished but still natural. Since our wedding, I have recommended Colin to my friends that are in the process of planning a wedding and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. read more

We hired Colin Lyons to shoot our engagement photos and our wedding day. And he delivered amazingly on both accounts. The engagement shoot was the perfect way for us to get to know him and vice versa. It also gave him a chance to understand the types of things we wanted from our pictures for our wedding day. During the planning process he was very responsive, always answering our questions and helping us plan our day of wedding photo schedule. Colin and his entire team were great the day of the wedding and perfectly captured every moment of the best day of my life. He helped corral our families to get the family formals done quickly so we could get back to our cocktail hour and our guests. He also made sure to capture great candid photographs of all aspects of our wedding - from cocktail hour to late night dancing. And his unique photo booth setup was a hit with all of our guests - from both the quality of the images to the fact that we had the complete set of photos the day after our wedding. We got so many compliments from our friends and family on the quality of our final photos - Colin did a great job retouching all our photos and picking out the best from thousands of photographs that he and his assistants took that day. He took time and care to deliver a great product. He was simply - the best! read more

Elena Bazini (an associate of Colin Lyons) did such an amazing job capturing our November 10, 2012 wedding day. My husband and I (plus both of our families and all our friends) are just thrilled with the pictures she took. Elena was easy and fun to work with. She made us feel comfortable and had such great ideas for our pictures! Even though I was planning a wedding from out of state, Elena made it easy for me and worked around when I was available. She met with my mom and I the week of the wedding to go through final details and make sure she knew exactly what we wanted. Elena and her assistant Erin worked so well together. They were even great at corralling lots of people for big family pictures! Looking at the pictures is such a wonderful reminder of what a great day it was, what a fun time we had, and how many special people were there with us. Even in the preview Elena sent me, there was not ONE picture I did not love. I would recommend Elena to anyone who wants amazing shots of their day. If I had to do it all over again, I would book her instantly! The next time I need beautiful pictures of a special event, I plan on calling Elena. read more
