My girlfriend and I went in for her first studio experience. She loves to sing and is very confident. The guy that helped us was sweet, wasn't joey, it was a younger guy , had a beard at the time. He was really making my girlfriend excited and what not. I was excited to I mean cmon you know. Anyways , so she was in there doing her thing but the guy wasn't even paying attention. He seemed more interested in getting to know me? Which annoyed me cause he'd cut her off every 10 seconds to say that was great Let's do it again. He's supposed to be in the music with her. He was supposed to guide her and help. But anyways in the end her song was badly mixed by this guy, the best was much louder than her voice. We payed almost 200$ for 2 hours and a waste of our time. As a hobby musician and a songwriter, though I have not recorded professionally, I have accompanied a few here in a producer and arranger capacity. We've always worked with Victoria, who was very professional n all our recording sessions. Contrary to the bashers out there, this studio has a lot of wisdom and experience and truly knows it's purpose and calling. I've met Joey once and he was very kind, mild-mannered and a very down-to-earth owner who genuinely knows his stuff inside and out. Although our recording price only allowed us to record in the smaller room, they were generous enough to let us into the main room, showed us their state-of-the art equipment and allowed us to take pictures for a souvenir. Going to a recording studio is not always a one-time "ok, let's go there and record" thing and expect an awesome, radio airplay-ready record. Don't go in there dreaming about a rock single or album only to hear yourself sounding like pop. You need to let the engineer know ahead of time what your expectations are, how would like to accomplish this at your scheduled time frame. If you do this, your sound engineer would have a bit of time to get used to your song and actually provide a better way and approach on your recording day.
