Lou and Bodi are the guys! Nobody ever thinks a tattoo spot nearby can be good, but these guys do decent work and always work with me for timing. You're best off texting them on Instagram or by contacting them, working out a time to meet with them, and sending them what you want ahead of time and where, so when you get there, you can get down to business. They're pretty nice guys who just will chat with you the whole time, pretty down to earth. Small space but it's better than the big empty bigger spaces some shops have. They keep it covered with curtains to maintain a taboo older feel of a tattoo shop. read more

Many of the reviews of Lou's seem to be from a while ago, when there were different artists working at the shop. It seems like Bodi is the one running things now. I went in for a consultation with him, hoping to get some work done, but he ultimately wasn't too interested in the idea I proposed. I'm a fan of traditional Japanese tattoo style, but after looking more closely at his portfolio, I realized his take on it wasn't quite what I was looking for. Compared to other artists in California who specialize in Japanese traditional, I found his work a bit too washed out and generic for my taste, with designs that felt a little too busy. His style is too recognizable, with similar patterns and placements across pieces. That said, if you're into his style and you're able to get on the same page with him, I'm sure you'll be happy with the outcome. From my experience, Bodi seemed like a pretty laid-back guy--easygoing and not uptight. However, if you're after something more specific or different, there are definitely other talented artists out there, and if you're willing to drive further out, you'll find some better options read more

Tried calling during business hours and nobody answered....5 days in a row. So we tried showing up for the door during normal hours. Lights are on and see people moving inside, but door was locked and nobody answered door. read more

Nice place. Conveniently placed close to the nearest Naval Base. Lou and his son run the shop and his whole shop puts out solid work BUT man is this guy sensitive. I came in with my mom to get some tattoos of bull skulls and he had some great ideas. I was looking at his work in the waiting room and found a tattoo I liked so I was about to take a picture and his son politely stopped me telling me they don't allow that. I didn't take the picture and went on with looking at it. Lou himself was outraged by my gesture. He started cussing about it and losing his temper. Not completely but enough for my mom to notice and ask if it was about what had just happened (a very small event). He said I was "insulting his work" and some other things. Obviously he takes his work seriously, I respect that, but not enough to give my business to someone who secondhandly cusses about me in front of my mom. Also, Lou's line work isn't as great as he thinks it is. The two stars are for the nice people who work there and put up with behavior like that. read more

I can't say enough about how impressed I was at the thorough and detailed way that Kim pierced my nose. Honestly, I never knew there was that much consideration involved in getting another hole put in your nose, but I understand why now, and I am oh so grateful. Kim was very informative on the process of piercing my nose, detailing what she was doing and why at all times, not assuming anything. She examined my nose, both with her fingers, and with a light up my nose, to ensure best placement. She explained everything she was doing, and she very promptly pierced me. It barely bled (even though it hurt like a bitch) and the pain was gone as quickly as the needle was removed. Swelling was minimal and the piercing has healed quickly and without incident. Kim gave me a very beautiful, professional card for aftercare, and encouraged me to come back to the shop to change my jewelry, even if I didn't purchase it from her. The shop itself is beautiful and the walls are covered in artwork and flash by Lou, which, I must say, does gorgeous work (as worn by Kim). He seems to center around old-school, traditional style tattooing, with bold and beautiful colors. Should I ever feel the need to put another hole in my body, I will most definitely come here. Very smart, concientious, clean and most importantly, confident piercer. read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this yet. So here's to adding another 5 star review to Lou's Tattoos. How good is Lou's Tattoos? I FLY in from Washington, D.C. and THEN drive 3 hours to Leemore without blinking an eye just to get inked and then fly out the next day. Seriously, Louis is a top notch artist. If you look around, you'll see they adhere to the strict hygiene standards (using multiple caps for colors/wearing gloves/clean needles/etc.) and you can tell they take their craft seriously by all the paintings they do. Even the customer service is awesome. One time, he even opened the shop on a Sunday just to accommodate my schedule. I get stopped ALL the time by people to compliment my tattoos. The colors they use and artistry pop out like crazy. I cannot say enough good things. I will continue to make the 6 hour flights and 3 hour drive just come to Lou's Tattoos. I've already logged in around 20 hours at Lou's and I can't wait to do it again in a few weeks. read more

Wish I could give negative stars. Got my nose pierced by Kim and about a week later developed a huge bump next to it. I went in to see her about it and all she basically told me is, IT'S MY FAULT! She did some "adjustments" but every week it came back. She kept telling me is "you're almost there" who knows where "there" is. If you want a good looking, quality, original tattoo this is the place to go. Everyone in this shop is friendly and fun. I love that they give you advice and let you know what they think before you make a bad tattoo choice. Even the pictures and the wall are done by the tattoers. The prices are inexpensive as well. I just got a cover-up done by Louis and it's beautiful, the lines are so perfect and the shading is amazing. My old tattoo is completely gone. For once i actually love to look in the mirror. Would give 0 stars if possible. Went in there asking about a small finger tattoo. I've never had a tattoo done so I didn't want to go all out and get a big tattoo and start off small. I met Kim in the front and when I asked her about getting a small finger tattoo, she straight up said "we don't do finger tattoos because they don't do good in the workplace but I'll ask if anyone can do it." There was 2 guys doing tattoos on people and one of them said "Nope I don't do finger tattoos because they don't look nice" and the other said "definitely not" Kim came back and said "well I have one more guy and I'll go ask him but I don't think he'll do it. They don't look very nice" and proceeded to show me her finger tattoos. Wasn't asking for her opinion, just wanted to know if they could do what I was asking for. Another guy comes back and basically asked what I wanted and where I wanted it. I originally wanted my horoscope sign and he kinda looked at me weird and tried not to laugh. I explained to him that this was my first tattoo and I just wanted something small to see what it felt like to get a tattoo done. At the end, this guy said "well I don't have time this weekend" he had a guy coming out of town to get a tattoo which I totally understand why he couldn't schedule me that weekend. I asked him what his schedule was like and he just told me to come by sometime next week . He didn't give me a specific time or date. I felt embarrassed and judged after this experience. I never went back. I was just trying to get a trial tattoo and they wanted nothing to do with me. I could tell the everyone in there were annoyed I asked for a finger tattoo.
