You might be familiar with this location for the spectacular selection of plants & garden decor,…read morealong with the butterfly garden... but did you know about the nearly secret children's outdoor play garden!? I brought my daughter here a few weeks ago to see the butterflies after remembering that my son enjoyed them when he was her age. At the time my son was here (years ago), the admission was free. However, it's now $10 per person. I was a bit daunted by this because I thought $10 just to see the little butterfly greenhouse garden was a bit much... .... then after we exited the garden, we stumbled across an amazing children's outdoor play garden! I did not recall seeing this place before and my daughter was absolutely delighted! We loved it so much that we left to go pick up my son and bring him back the same day. They both spent hours playing in the dirt, with the toy food, climbing the structures, making a water fountain, playing in the tent, and so forth. Definitely worth the $10 per person for them to have that experience. We were also blown away by the fun selection of decor and children's garden toys and accessories inside the shop. The employees were super friendly and nice, too. Great spot. Will definitely be back. This place has also inspired me to consider having a garden. Maybe.

Even though we didn't see many butterflies this time, the visit was still wonderful. The greenhouse is full of beautiful flowers and the landscaping is very well done. It's such a peaceful and relaxing place to walk around. We also bought a lemon tree, which became a lovely gift for our daughter. Highly recommend visiting. Especially after May if you want to see lots of butterflies!

We had a fantastic time on the Buffalo Trace for Night at the Distillery tour! It's a seasonal…read moreHalloween event. The atmospheric, spooky vibe was perfect for the season, and the tour guides hit just the right balance, delivering ominous, ghostly tales alongside really cool history about the distillery. The entire staff was so sociable and brought such a positive energy to the night. The cocktails and bourbon samples were top-notch throughout. The absolute highlight for me was getting to try the 12-Year Eagle Rare, which was the only neat pour of the night and exceptionally smooth. A huge shoutout to the distillery team for their accessibility: as a wheelchair user, I was thoroughly impressed. I was able to get around easily, and every building we wanted to visit, or that was open for the tour, was accessible. Highly recommend booking this experience if you get the chance!

First time visiting the famous Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky!…read more Due to our limited time, we weren't able to take a distillery tour, but we did get to enjoy a bourbon tasting and spend some time exploring their beautiful gift shop. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made our visit even more enjoyable. We also brought our dog and he wasn't the only one. The gift shop welcomes dogs! One thing I quickly learned is that people REALLY love their bourbon! The staff could barely keep the shelves stocked! As soon as bottles were put out, they were flying off the shelves. We watched people walking away with entire boxes of bourbon! It was quite the sight! Of course, we couldn't leave empty-handed either! We managed to pick up a few special bottles to bring home. Such a fun stop on our road trip and definitely worth visiting! Next time, we'll have to make time for the full distillery tour!
