So pleased with the service and my order that I received today. I called from out of state to have a plant delivered to my friend who was retiring. Luckily I looked on the website first to discover that they have a basket with Africa Violets so she could have something long lasting. Ordering over the phone was quick and it was explained that if they didn't have purple (like the online picture) they would provide another color but that they did have that in stock. I called around 9 am and the flowers were delivered about a couple hours later. I was not expecting that! They arrived as shown in the pic online and my friend was surprised. I later found out they were not the local florist I thought I was calling. I called Oram and Amber answered the phone. I told her the predicament I was in and was he was quick to help me. Well I am severely disappointed. I paid extra to have an arrangement delivered for a birthday that was supposed to be overfilled with flowers that were packed tight like the picture below. I confirmed with the person several times. I picked out the arrangement below which costs $69.95. And what the person got was the other photo. That I paid $129 for. That was including delivery and two balloons. Not only did they write down the wrong address for delivery so it didn't get there until 5:00, when I ordered the day before, this was sadly just a rip off. We decided to come to this flower shop for my father in law's funeral arrangement. The ladies who owned the shop was very helpful and showed us photo albums of flower arrangements for the casket. The ladies were so knowledgeable about the kinds of flowers to use in the arrangement, what type to use for fillers and what flowers would look good with the type of bouquet we picked out for my father in law's casket. They were able to customize the bouquet/arrangement with no problems and it made our choice more personable. One of my father in law's wishes were to have plenty of flowers at his funeral, and I believe Oram's did a great job. read more

Staff were very sweet when they called to verify something with me. I usually use another florist, but they didn't have as many baby boy flower options (like literally 2 compared to the 5-6 here) so ultimately I chose here (even though it was more expensive). The delivery fee here was less than my usual place though. Flowers were pretty and just like the pic. read more

Oram's is a wonderful gem near downtown in the heart of Chevy Chase. It is a family owned florist that has something for everyone, and the prices are very reasonable! I stopped in today to buy a flower and or plant in a container for a baby that she can keep forever. It was for my new granddaughter that was born today. I didn't really know what I was looking for, but the staff was incredible and helped me not only find a beautiful flowering plant, but a cute baby container. They also asked if I wanted moss in the plant because they knew it would look great...and it did. I have gotten similar things before and was adding up in my mind what it would cost and when they rang it up at the register, it was about half of what I thought! A wonderful florist in Lexington!! The staff is friendly and helpful. I was even able to ask about timelines for delivery and was answered in a clear manner. Yes, the flowers did get there when they promised!! My Mother and Father have enjoyed many beautiful flowers from Oram's. I've used this service twice and both times I was disappointed. The first time I ordered through Teleflora and so when the flowers weren't as full as expected I did some research and found out that when you order from Teleflora directly it takes out part of the monies. There were florists on there complaining about not having enough money leftover to create great pieces. So I gave them another chance. This time I purchased the premium version of a bouquet and I ordered directly from their site. Again, very disappointed. The number of buds did not match the number shown on the site (which one imagines is low considering you can't see all the way around) and there was cheap looking filler. I don't mean baby's breath. Maybe they are better when you show up to their store? But don't order online, it won't be anywhere near your expectations. I guess they bank on most people not knowing how much the flowers cost. read more

Our family ordered more than $500 worth of flowers for my grandmother's funeral. They were nice when delivered, however by the next day half the flowers on the casket spray and the other large spray next to it were dead. As if we were not upset enough and then to arrive on the day of the funeral to find $500 worth of dead flowers on and around the casket was even more upsetting. When we called Oram's to complain we got the run around. We eventually sent them pictures of the flowers to show them just how bad it was and we finally got a call back from owner to say "she talked to her staff, so that it wouldn't happen again". I have ALWAYS used Oram's and was the one who recommended them to my family. However, after seeing firsthand what you get from them, I will NEVER use them for anything ever again and would suggest using Kreations by Karen or Ashland Florist - both of which delivered beautiful long lasting flowers to the funeral. read more

Oram's Flowers first interested me because they are a local flower shop that has been in business for decades. I needed 2 dozen roses for my anniversary. I figured I could probably go to Kroger or Meijer and get 2 dozen roses for $30 - $40 but I decided I would support a local business and, from what I had heard before, possibly pay less for more quality flowers. I was very mistaken at this thought because when I actually called to order my flowers Oram's was going to charge me $130 for 24 roses with babies breath. Without the babies breath the cost for the 24 roses would be $120. This comes out to be $5 per rose. For that price I could go to a chain grocery store and buy 34 single roses, over a dozen roses more than from Oram's. As with most products bought in bulk the more you buy the cheaper each one becomes but unfortunately Oram,s does not know this philosophy. For $120 and the bulk price (which should be cheaper) at a chain grocery store one could receive 8 dozen roses (96) while at Oram's one could receive 24 roses. So much for trying to support local businesses. I can safely say I will never go to Oram's again. read more
