We were a little late but they were waiting for us all setup. We made it off first under the foot bridge in the early morning at around 5:45AM. Then, my girlfriend's dad lost the first fish so then my girlfriend's sister reeled in the second fish. I was another 2-3 hours until we hit the jackpot and everyone in our party of 5 snatched a lake trout. Afterwards, Rob filleted our catch and Kyler took photos of us with the rod of 6 lake trouts. Hands down the most fun on my entire trip to Duluth. After getting back, my girlfriend's mom fried our catch which was delicious.

The sites were not on top of each others. We had plenty of room. It was gravel for the pad and grass everywhere else. They have a very nice campground picnic area and lots of areas to fish. The canoe and paddle boats are free to use. They have created a lot of trails/grass paths where you can walk/play. The park was quiet. But it was a nice mix of kids, seasonals and short timers. If we camped in the Duluth area we would stay here again.

a slice of heaven...right here. The Siskiwit River Preserve…read moreis my special place to go. It's just a few minutes out of Cornucopia, Wisconsin. The Siskiwit River cascading waterfalls is something you really don't want to miss. You can walk along side of the river over new boardwalks on the 102 acre preserve, or fish in the kettle hole downstream. Be sure to wear your water shoes because it can get slippery with the moss on the rocks! I have been coming to this special place for years. It was owned by Swenson family and we enjoyed many visits to the cabins along the river (the cabins have been removed to make the parking area). Originally, this was a apple orchard and farm (you can still find the apple trees here today). THIS is how much I love Yelp....I'm divulging the location of this special spot! This park is located near the Sandstone Federal Penitentiary. It is a nature park and has a decent…read moresized parking lot. There is also a picnic shelter with tables under it, nice hiking trails and a restroom facility. It is very picturesque and touts a bat hibernaculum to beautiful scenery. I would suggest bringing and putting on some bug spray when you visit here. The bugs were feasting on me. The Kettle River is easily accessible from this park. They have a boat launch there that you can set off on your kayak excursion. Robinson Park is an all-season park that offers ice and mixed climbing in the winter and sports climbing and bouldering the other times of year. The park has hiking and some small camp sites that can be reserved that have campfires and picnic tables. There is also some benches that you can sit on that overlook the river. The park does not have a playground area, any green space, basketball or tennis courts, but is still a decent spot. It is a decent park, especially for you adventurous types. It is well off of the beaten path and is a very peaceful spot. It is well maintained and does not get much traffic. I enjoyed my time there and hope to make it back there soon.
