A Belfast native, he grew up during the era of the Troubles, but his memory stretches from the settlement days and in and around every corner. You'll find on his eclectic tours that you can steer the discussion in any direction you wish. You'll only fail at trying to temper his enthusiasm. I understand that he offers tours that focus on history or street art or other specific subjects or neighborhoods, but I imagine your best bet would be to do as we did and just unleash him. Belfast is a city with good restaurants and attractions but a good tour helps bring out the incredibly rich history and will certainly show you a hole-in-the-wall or two you'd never have otherwise found. We went out on the town for a pretty unscripted three hours. My 78 year-old father started to fade along the way, so Marti detoured to a nearby spot for a quick cuppa, enabling our small group the legs to carry on. Next time I may leave Dad behind in order that I might test Marti's stamina in full. This is still a great campsite. The lake, campfires being allowed etc etc…read more But on two occasions our visit has been marred by other campers being extremely loud. On this latest occasion, earlier, they had their own loudhailer to direct the party games they're playing. Now their bass heavy music is so loud two other groups of campers / caravaners just upped and left. We've got earplugs, so will persevere. Other things to note: firewood has gone from a bag being 3 EUR, to the option of a 4 EUR bag or a 5 EUR bag. The wood is pretty great though, for burning. I wouldn't come back again if it was just the two of us. But we will be back when other friends come here... like next week :)
