It wasn't just a job to her -- she was emotionally invested in my cat getting better. What blew me away is that she went above and beyond the pet care. Colleen is incredibly kind-hearted and attentive. She always puts your pet's safety and comfort first. We spent time at the beginning of each appointment just chatting and letting my dog roam around her space, so he had time to get comfortable and Colleen could get to know us, our needs, updates, etc. At the end, she also gave me an overview of what happened during the grooming session (sometimes he can be a little troublesome, especially with his nails getting trimmed, while other times he is an angel). Colleen is a very honest and direct person, which may be off-putting to people who aren't used to that sort of personality, but I highly appreciate it. She is extremely knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge to help improve your pet's well-being and relationship with you. Again, she does all this with kindness, respect, and patience. We had a regular recurring schedule with her, but whenever there was a holiday or I had to leave for a trip, Colleen was always flexible and accommodating with adjusting our appointments or open to having my friend drop off my dog to her instead of me. Our appointments were usually about 1.5 hours long (15-30 mins of which were spent talking), so I often went to Big Mug Coffee down the street on El Camino (also highly recommended) to wait out the grooming session with a coffee and pastries. Colleen is incredibly passionate about what she does. She almost always gave my dog an extra cute little bandana or bow tie (which she makes herself!) after every session, and one year she also gave us an adorable personalized Christmas ornament. It really just told me how much she cares. I was so sad when I finally told her that we were moving, and because of Colleen, the next groomer that we have to find will have a very high bar to meet.

Like most Pom's, Ashley started out with a beautiful, thick coat, requiring a good amount of bathing and brushing, to keep her looking her best. Over time, with a house full of small children, and other obligations and distractions, I did not keep up with the grooming enough, and so she started to get her share of matted hair. Then, when she would get a bath and I tried to brush her, it got to be painful for her. My sweet little Pom started to become Cujo, every time she saw a hair brush. Not good. Finally, I decided to take her to Petsmart in Milpitas for "professional" grooming. Their solution was a complete disaster. They shaved her, sparing only a mane around her face, making her look like a little lion. This is completely inappropriate for a Pom .. but that was the least of our problems. Serious skin.follicle damage prevented her coat from properly growing back in. My vet even tested her for health issues, thinking she might have a nutritional disorder. Another local groomer did their best for her, but still her coat was quite thin, and really had lost its original beauty. I pretty much accepted things as they were, but would never encourage others to shave a Pomeranian. Frankly, I feel like the shop that pulled this number should have their license yanked. As I got busy with work, my dear wife started to make the runs to the groomer every six weeks. She had a less than ideal experience with the groomer I had been using, when she drove in rush hour traffic to drop the dog off for an appointment, only to learn that something had come up and so they needed to see the dog another day. My wife had had enough, so she decided to seek a groomer who she felt might our needs better. She came across Colleen and Lovin' All the Babies. Colleen made sure that we checked with our vet to be sure there were no health issues contributing to the damaged coat, and used her experience and gentle products, helped Ashley to regain her beauty. If someone looks at a photo of our dog from a couple years ago, they probably would not believe that it is the same dog seen today. I cannot thank Colleen enough for all she has done for our dog, but I do urge others to support this wonderful groomer.

Regarding my pup contracting Giardia--I already stated in my original review that I understand parasites are common and my puppy was probably more susceptible, so I wasn't placing blame on the facility. Just a warning that these things happen. However I would like to point out that my dog did not go anywhere else besides home and their facility (since theyre insinuating that it could've been contracted elsewhere). Additionally, the fact that Furrtropolis requires a negative fecal test every 6 months is a warning in itself that any dog could be carrying a parasite between that time, so this requirement isn't full proof. This is just the nature of daycares and boarding facilities, and it wasn't the sole reason I decided we wouldn't be returning. 2. Regarding kennel cough--again just spreading the warning of what my dog experienced coming back from the facility. I'm fully aware they don't have control over the health of every dog that enters. 3. Records show that we were in contact, because as I stated in my review, I would have to continously badger the staff in order to get any updates. Yes, responses were prompt but that wasn't the issue. It was getting updates to begin with, without me having to reach out on the 4th day of boarding to ask how things went. I've seen other boarding places have cameras or provide daily updates (on meals, training sessions, nap time, etc)--totally fine if this isn't one of those places and you're a dog parent that doesn't mind. It's just not for me. *I also want to clarify that I directly expressed to the staff multiple times of wanting more communication/updates and it not being met before I came to yelp* 4. This just further proves my point on the poor communication from this facility, the fact that I wasn't made aware my pup might have had a decrease in appetite or activity level is serious alarm bells. Both of those things would indicate to me that something is off since my dog normally has endless energy and a black hole for a stomach. At the very least, a simple update that my dog just finished his additional 1:1 training session/1:1 play session that I paid extra for would've been nice. My dog is the love of my life and I'm sure other pet parents feel the same. It's important for me to share my experiences to provide insight for others and so the business can improve for others.

My dog requires medicine twice daily, and has some slight arthritis. Deborah addresses this appropriately. Overall, it is a great service offering all the reliability, perks, and benefits of a multi-employee staff, but with a more personal, cost effective approach.

I felt obligated to write a review, because I think it's very important to understand what you're going to experience (especially due to all the 5 star reviews). I think most dog owners think of themselves as dog parents as I do, so I was really hesitant to kennel or send my dog off with a stranger. Deborah was quite prompt with emails, and requires you to go to her house for a 30-minute, $20 consultation. No big deal if I was satisfied with the visit...but I wasn't, and honestly, I feel like I paid her to torture me for an hour. What could I have bought with that 20$? a meal, a shirt, a car wash? I don't know, anything would have been better. I opened the door and was immediately greeted by a giant mob of about 10-12 dogs. It definitely threw me off because when Deborah had mentioned I needed to book quickly, she said could only have a "handful" of dogs at any given minute. I assumed that meant....5? (at the most). Her house is essentially a dog park. They are allowed on furniture, and have in and out privileges. Good for the dogs, because they definitely know who is boss and run wild. Her roommate was spraying dogs with water bottles because they're misbehaving. For 30+ minutes I watched another dog follow my dog around and hump him while he tried to escape. Yes, my dog is submissive, but Deborah commented several times about how he was, "standoffish," "doesn't know how to play," and asking me if I ever take him to dog parks. Are you kidding me? I take him to the dog park all the time, and he's fine. I felt like she was constantly questioning my dog parenting, because she gave me several comments such as that throughout the hour. This is also ridiculous, because he was one of the most well behaved dogs there, and definitely is trained not standoffish. The biggest problem I had was her own dog's nails were yellow, long and curled over...which honestly, it's what, 10 minutes and $8 for a nail trim? She also works during the day, so the dogs are unsupervised while she's out, and she doesn't walk them either. So... basically, you are giving her money for a storage space. I might as well leave my dog outside in my own much larger backyard with a giant trough of food/water, because it's the same exact thing. There are plenty of other people who will watch and walk your dog for the same price, have only 1-2 dogs at one time, and even send you photo updates. I know this sounds extremely negative, but it's how I felt. She's a nice lady (as is her roommate), and I know she genuinely loves her dogs, but the environment is just not what I was looking for.

And anytime she's had a schedule change she always checks with me if it's ok to come by earlier or later to walk the dogs. She's been excellent with regular communication through text message and also sends me a Dog Log report every time of where they walked, how far, how long, and she can also add pictures and notes to it, and let me know if anyone pooped. She has gotten some of the cutest photos of my dogs and shared them with me which I love to see. She also has the best pricing, by far, of anyone I have seen online, on Yelp, and on apps like Rover. We are so happy we found Gicell and Marvelpup!…read more Predictable Service Times: She grooms out of her house which means you can pick up your dog as soon as she is done which is pretty predictable so you can plan your schedule around that. For example she told us 1.5 hours and it ended up being just over that for his first time. We also love that she has afternoon appointments because that means our pup has time to get tired and makes for a better cut. In the morning he is bouncing with energy and that's often when other groomers recommend you drop them off. Happy pup: Generally our dog is very happy although sometimes a little nervous. At our last groomers I noticed he was absolutely terrified. When he left Gicell's he was happy and seemed to really like her. I also liked that our pup wasn't waiting around in a distracting environment. I don't mind anyone crating him (as he loves his crate) but I think the being in a noisy place for hours on end and waiting for treatment may not have been the best for our pup. Listened to our instructions: We have a particular style we like our pup cut in and sometimes with doodles/poodles groomers don't listen and do a specific cut. Gicell did a great job following our directions! She openly asked for feedback and said she could change anything we didn't like or we could make modifications next time if we wanted. I loved that she approached it like a partnership. Quality: Gicell is clearly really good at her job and she gave our pup a quality cut and got his nails short which is no easy feat with his black nails. Gicell came in at her quoted price and it was a great price for the service we got. We will definitely be back!
