Although I haven't seen the digitized videos yet, on Friday, June 12 (two days ago now), I dropped off 62 tapes (mix of VHS, MiniDV and Super 8), some of which are 35+ years old. I happen to live close enough to Lotus Media that it's a short drive to their drop off point. Today (Sunday), I received an email stating that the video tapes have already been processed. Lotus' turnaround on this has been amazing! I provided them with a USB drive to store the digitized videos, and it is being delivered to my home tomorrow (i.e., Monday). Wow - thus far Lotus has been awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product but have been extremely impressed with their service. After trying 3 other digitizing dervices which claimed they could convert an 40 years old BetaMax PAL tape of our wedding, I found Lotus Media and after confirming they could handle the PAL (European) formatted BetaMax tape, I sent it in and within a week had it digitized by them. Previously I had shipped same tape to iMemories who claimed tape was corrupted and damaged beyond repair, when contacted they realized it was PAL format, which had been indicated on their own card submitted with the tape, and they then said they could not handle PAL formatted tapes. Lotus Media did a an excellent job at a very reasonable price and completed the service requested ahead of expectations, they really did a great job for me. read more

I wish I had done more research before hand. I called the number and left a message for her to please call me before she started the project. She never called back. She only replied to emails I later found out through the experience. I sent her 24 3 inch super 8mm film my dad gave me to put on DVDs and a flash drive. When I received them in the mail with my 8mm back there was DVDs but no flash drive. I emailed her and she apologized and sent me a flash drive a week or so later. The messed up thing was there was no sound! And at no time throughout the process did she mention that there would be no sound. So I feel like she didn't mention it on purpose. Although you can find it mentioned on her website after searching for it.. which is why I wish I would've done better research before hand. So after some research I found on Amazon that I could have purchased a device that does the same thing (also no sound) For about the same price she charged me So my advice, whether you have 8mm or vhs you want to convert to a digital platform buy one of the devices off Amazon and do it yourself, I bought the device for VHS conversions because I have some of those too and it worked great and has sound too (VHS ONLY) For some reason the 8mm conversion machines will not capture sound and people recommend that if you still have a projector for them to play them on a small white surface and record them with a camcorder on a tripod. That way you get the sound and they say it works pretty well! read more

What a nice service available in the Seattle metro that does this. There are other non local options but its nice to know if you needed support, they are local. With that said, the process at Lotus is seamless. Very clear and hassle free. Not only did I end up with media that is over 20 years old now digitized and ready to share but the different options are very intuitive. So you can try to get a VCR and do this yourself but if you don't have a large amount of free time, Lotus will take this task off your hands and convert your old memories without a hitch. read more

I can't give enough praise and recognition to the owner of Lotus Media. Don't sleep on your old tapes! I highly recommend her services. Her prices were less expensive than going through Costco/CVS/Kodiak/etc and I felt more comfortable knowing our home movies would be digitized locally and not sent off somewhere else. Plus she gives you options for choosing how you'd like to receive your media, whether to download the movies off google cloud, have them copied to a USB, or have them burned on DVD. She was quick and prompt with communication as well. I sent a handful of emails with questions I had and she got back to me within 12 hours every time. My family had 48 VHS tapes and she was able to digitize them all and put them onto the USB I provided in a single week! All the movies turned out perfect! We did have 1 bad tape in the bunch but the glitchy video and audio was an issue with the source material of the VHS and does not reflect her high quality process of digitizing tapes. Every other tape turned out perfect being viewed as an mp4 and it gives my family, especially my mom, so much more peace of mind knowing we saved these memories from our childhood and they won't be degraded or possibly lost now. This was exactly the kind of service you want to have when it comes to saving your memories. I had 17 ancient VHS tapes, and knew some had important family memories and others were junky recordings of 90s TV shows. Two important things: 1. I tried 2 VCRs and neither would play my old tapes. 2. I tried a Costco-referred service a few years ago, and because there were TV shows on some of the tapes they wouldn't touch them. Lotus overcame these issues and did everything right here, quickly, in an organized fashion. I'm impressed and will use again if I discover more tapes. I really liked how seamless the process was. I emailed them, they emailed us for the form and told us to go to the UPS in Factoria. At the UPS store I filled out the form and mailed it in, and before the promised time, I received a notice requesting to send the invoice, paid it online and immediately got the digital copy of the cassette. I have an old VHS video that is over 27 years old that stores great memories. I had a friend try to salvage the video but it didn't play well on the equipment he had. A friend of mine located Lotus Media online. I recently dropped it off late on a Monday inside the UPS store. I had trouble locating it as I didn't realize it was inside the UPS store until after I read a review that referenced it. A UPS employee gave me a form to complete which is pretty straight forward and I provided my video. I was told it would be picked up and someone would contact me but I wasn't provided a time frame. I was a little apprehensive about leaving the video but I hoped for the best. I was absolutely shocked to receive an email at 7am that my video was ready. There is a link for payment online; I was also provided an option of Venmo, Zelle or check. I paid the invoice and the price was more than reasonable for what I requested; in addition, the quick turn around. The communication was exceptional and I had no questions since their email communication covers everything I would typically inquire about. I was informed my project turned out great and I would receive it within 24-48hours and I was provided the USPS tracking information immediately after they received my confirmation of payment. The digitization of old 8mm tapes has been on my to do list for many years. I've even gone as far as purchasing an old camera to digitize them myself. I gave up soon after I figured out that I needed even more equipment and time. Flash forward many years later and I again investigated digitizing the tapes. I found many companies that digitized into a CD, but this was not I was looking for. I wanted to be able to have the digital file and I did not want to waste time ripping the videos from the CD onto my laptop. Unfortunately my Secam VHS cassettes that were taped in Tahiti during the 90's came back in black and white. I wish they would have informed me of this before going ahead and completing the project - as I would have cancelled. Who wants to look at Tahiti in black and white? :-( I informed them of this but they replied they could do nothing about it. I was getting quotes to get a few hundred slides from the 1950's transferred to digital. The slides were from my Great Uncle's estate - I had previewed them briefly on a single slide viewer and didn't want to get my hopes up since basically all I could make out on them were blurred skeleton like images. After gathering the quotes, checking production times, etc. - I decided to go with Lotus Media. Their quote was slightly higher then Costco, but they do all their production locally in Bellevue - which greatly reduced the chances of my slides getting mixed up with another order or lost. I highly recommend Lotus Media! The service was fantastic, the prices were good, and the options for conversion were great. The big selling point for me was that they would convert right to MP4 and could deliver via USB or google drive. Most conversion places I looked up went to DVD, which if you ask me is converting from an already dead medium (VHS/tapes) to one that is already dying anyways (DVD). Putting it in MP4 format was big for me, and if I want a DVD I can burn that from the MP4 (or they do offer DVD service if that's what you want). These guys are fast and well-priced. I was happy to know that a service like this exists. One gripe was that one of the five tapes included in my set to be transferred was accidentally replaced with a 'cleaning' mini-dv, which is effectively a 60-second cleaning cassette for camcorders. I understand that the mistake was my own, but inspection of invoice showed a $5 charge for that cleaning tape. Again, I understand there is a business to be run, but an additional communication explaining that one of the tapes was a 'cleaner' would have prompted me to send in the actual tape that needed to be transcoded; a $15 service in itself. It was an honest mistake, but one call/e-mail would have resulted in an additional sale. Additionally, I provided my own USB thumb drive for the files to be transferred to. Upon receipt of the thumb drive, I had noticed they had placed a sticker advertising the business on it. I would have appreciated being asked to advertise on my own property. Other than those isolated experiences, I think that you will get the most bang-for-your-buck with this service. The video quality turned out fine and the turnaround time was great. read more

I was very happy to find a service close by that was able to convert my 8 mm reel film from the 1960's to an editable .mp4 digital file for an upcoming Celebration of Life! I found that Lotus Media service was reasonably priced and they were able to answer all my questions over the phone. They are very busy so actually being able to talk to someone on the phone was a plus! I also had the option of dropping the reels off at a designated Bellevue UPS store rather than mailing them in. I only had so many days to get this project done so that was a time saver on the front end! I paid a few extra $ for a rush job and was able to quick ship back to me all less than a week!
