Their retail store is a much smaller version of the products you see at the pecan and candy shops along the interstate. This is located at the facility where the products are made. They have samples out for most, if not all, of their products to help you decide what you want. That's assuming you don't want one of everything. We got dark chocolate covered pecans, chocolate covered dried cherries, chocolate covered blueberries, divinity and a gift box of chocolate covered pecans. We easily met the "deal" requirements for a free peanut brittle. We got to taste samples of everything except the peanut brittle. I don't remember seeing samples of that. All of the chocolate covered candies are delicious but the big surprise was the peanut brittle. I used to love peanut brittle but I had given up on it a long time ago for fear of breaking a tooth. I decided to get it out for our family Christmas gathering and took a little piece, figuring to just suck on it until it melted. Turned out it was easily crunchable and not too sweet. Of the variety of things I put out to munch on this Christmas Day, their brittle was one of the hits. This assures that we will make sure to stop at Dillon Candy and not pass by. Their prices are reasonable. The choices are limited to what they make. Many of the products are in generic packaging rather than their retail packaging which probably helps keep the prices down. The store is small and they have regular business hours Monday-Friday, 8-5. If you are passing through on US 84 during that time you need to stop.

It would make any child's day to head here for ice cream and candy. (There is an entire wall full of various candies that can be selected and weighed. I noticed it was $10.95/lb. There are also a few tables where you can sit down and eat and a TV playing kid appropriate shows, but no sound. In my overall opinion, this place is extremely overpriced but cute. It will probably generate good revenue because of the location, but there are much better ice cream shops in town.

Inside you will smell delicious gluten free and preservative free sausage. People come from all over the country to visit this store and to try their famous tractor milled grits. We took home hot pepper sauces and several preserves . They were so friendly here from the guys in back serving sausage dogs and links to checkout. Walking around the store is nostalgic for old time items like RC cola and small games from the 60s. Out on the porch are 4 rocking chairs and by the lake are places to picnic which we did with my parents who said they felt they were on vacation since it was so peaceful. As we know, local honey is much better and more beneficial than store bought honey. The Frenchtown Farmer's Market is rather small. I would actually say it is smaller than the one out by Thomasville. However, the fresh produce and other goods are great....great quality and great price that is. I saw foods such as watermelons, sweet potato, tomatoes, okra, onions, and beans. There was also some great local honey from Walter, the bee keeper. He had some freshly cut sourdough bread for us to try the honey before purchasing. He had honey both with and without the honeycomb and they were $10 each. He also had some candles that were made out of bee pollen and said those, too were good for allergy sufferers. There was a stand where a lady was selling boiled peanuts; both spicy and non spicy. I saw some t-shirts for sale as well as some artwork. What I appreciated most was that there were people from different ethnic backgrounds and different ages. Everyone was so nice....it's not all the time you walk down the street and are greeted by everyone. There was even a young women set up street side who offered us some free water and free slices of watermelons. Many of the neighbors were sitting on their porches people watching and striking conversations with passersby. Although this is not a place where I could "stock up" on all the produce I desire, it is a great place to stop in to purchase a few items. I love that this market is still around and that some of the culture and history of Frenchtown is being preserved.
