First ever review I have done on a restaurant. To start off, I'd like to say that Pho is one of my favorite all time meals. I have tried many different Pho shops or Vietnamese restaurants and by far this Lotus Cafe has the best Pho I have ever had and I am a regular customer. The broth always comes out steamy and warm and never has it been too greasy, which is a big thing for me. The noodles as cooked very well and I always order extra with my soup and go well with the broth and other ingredients added to the soup. I always order the Chicken Pho and the chicken is cut nice and thin. Easy to eat and does not taste like it is soaked in chicken grease which I love. I have tried other Pho dishes and have all been just as good the spring rolls are amazing no matter which one you prefer. The service has always been real easy and nice here. I hope this place stays forever!! read more

This was my favorite place for Pho. I debated whether to even post this, but after the way I was treated during the one time I went there for a Boba during Covid, I haven't returned in almost a year. I won't return. I'm hard of hearing & I literally could not hear the man through the plexiglass covering at all. He was so incredibly short & rude to me. I even told him I was hard of hearing & I don't know if he couldn't understand or hear me, but he acted like I was trying to infect him when I leaned down closer to the small opening of the plexiglass. My husband and I went here on Dec 3rd for dinner. We ordered 2 appetizers and I ordered a Bahn Mi sandwich and my husband ordered an entree. I wanted some noodles on the side so I ordered a kids Lo Mein and I asked for extra mayo on the side for the sandwich. Last time I got it there was very little mayo. The waiter came back and said the cook would not give me extra mayo and I couldn't order a kids meal. If I we're ordering take out I could have gotten a kids meal and I already ordered a sandwich. The Bahn Mi pork was one small piece of meat that was tough and full of fat. Not customer friendly. Won't be going back. read more

So I have been coming for years but since October I have been eating more healthier (ovo-lacto-vegetarian-ish). I thought that I was going to have to be sad and not eat at this place until I realized this place has a mecca of tofu as a replacement. Hey, I was a meat eater before so it was beef, pork, and shrimp as my staple so I never read beyond those words before. Now I see the word tofu almost everywhere. My heart palpitated earlier in the year when I had shaken tofu! Say what?! Shaken tofu! That picture has been lost and gone for a while now so I'll have to retake it so you can appreciate that you don't always have to order it as beef. I recently had the pad thai tofu (number 3 spicy) and the tofu was nicely fried someway somehow that I have yet to be able to recreate at home. They have it down to a freaking science of firmness and yumminess. I'll try to take pictures of the grilled Tofu Sandwich I took to go with their shaken sauce if I don't devour it in one bit first. :) If I didn't move further, I would have tried every tofu dish on the menu. Had never eaten there till my sister took me after I had dental surgery. She bought me plain chicken broth, and I was amazed at how delicious it was. I couldn't wait till my mouth healed enough so I could order those beautiful steamed rice and veggie dishes I saw others enjoying. The Hunan Chicken is our favorite, the brown sauce just delicious. I still love the chicken broth and often eat from my husband's Hunan chicken dish while eating the broth. We love going there to eat, as the clientele are not loud and noisy, like too many restaurants. Probably because they are enjoying the food. If you want the best bowl of pho on this side of town, you have found your spot! The spring rolls are always fresh and worth the money. The crab rangoons are always perfectly crabby and creamy. The pho has the most wonderfully seasoned broth and chicken or shrimp doesn't matter, it's more than worth your coin. The secret best part of any stop at Lotus is their perfected peanut sauce. You can just dip anything you want in it, but the spring rolls are brought tot he next level with the peanut sauce. read more

I have been to Brodard Asia Express many times, and have most of the dishes on the menu. I am not comparing my experience that I had at Lotus to Brodard. The rice was very good. Cooked perfectly and great flavor. the spring rolls were great. Now that they exceeded my expectations on the most basic dishes, can't wait to come back for some Vietnamese food. This will be brief but I wanted to get my 2 cents in. I've been to Lotus Cafe twice. Both times my food was delicious and fresh. Service was friendly and prompt at all times and the place was spotlessly clean. The menu is extensive and features almost all of the typical Vietnamese dishes in both a Bahn Mi sandwich shop and a Pho' place in addition to featuring a few other interesting items. I complimented the owner on the quality of their food and just how delicious it was. She told me the meats for the sandwiches are all grilled to order. Lotus is only a couple of miles from my house. I am so glad they are open. In between meals, it will also be handy to stop by for a cold refreshing boba (bubble) tea smoothie. These are excellent as well. I'm now a regular customer of Lotus Cafe. I liked Lotus Café and was a fairly regular customer since it's so close to my house. I usually get their Pho but tonight I tried their Teriyaki Chicken. It was awful. It was flattened dried-up chicken sprinkled with sesame seeds and teriyaki sauce on the side. The teriyaki sauce tasted like something you'd buy at a grocery store. I consider myself a bit of an expert since I'm Asian and I grew up on this stuff and trust me, I know good Teriyaki Chicken and this wasn't it. Sarku at Arlington Parks Mall - now they make good Teriyaki Chicken. But where I was more disappointed was in the lack of customer service that I received after having been a regular customer (I've never returned any of their food before). As soon as I tasted the chicken, I told the waiter that I didn't want this dish and asked him to remove it from my tab. I didn't eat it. I took a bite and it was awful. I didn't think I should pay for it. Most restaurants I've been to would be apologetic and even offer another dish for me to order. But not Lotus Café. Oh, well. No problem. I'm so impressed by their service. They have adapted their restaurant to an awesome take out service to deal with the pandemic. They have a door with a window where you pick up and pay for your food. So clever! So clean! I love it! Not to mention my call in order was ready in 10 minutes, so prompt. The orange chicken was a generous portion with big pieces of quality chicken. What amazes me about this restaurant is that all of the dishes are delicious and most are kid friendly dishes. My daughter is a very picky eater but she seems to enjoy most of the dishes we share together like, won ton noodle soup, grilled pork vermicelli bowl, eggrolls, pho etc.. we always get extra food to go so I wouldn't have to cook for a few days and it still tastes fantastic. 10/10 would recommend for anyone wanting clean, delicious, and hearty Vietnamese food! read more

Pretty good place to have boba tea and spring rolls. I usually have the vietnamese iced coffee if I'm looking for a drink or the vietnamese coffee frappe if I'm looking for something a bit more slushy. Both are pretty strong in terms of the coffee taste. If you're looking for something thats not as strong then have their cappuccino or french vanilla. They're Thai tea is as good and authentic as it gets in Arlington. All their boba teas have a very good blend of sweetness and taste plus it's consistent from day to day. The staff are all very friendly and truly care about their customers. I can't tell you how many times I've had them open up my boba tea after being sealed just to make it slightly sweeter and they've remade it for me. I recently had lunch here and got the shrimp fried rice. It was fresh and the taste really made it into the shrimp but the rice was a bit bland. I also had their spring rolls with the creamy peanut sauce. The combination of the two make it well worth the money. read more

So far so good... I got the spring roll appetizer that I get at any Vietnamese restaurant. It's my favorite everywhere I go and a standard I use to judge things by. It's like Johnny Depp always ordering the pork dish in Once Upon a Time in Mexico, except I don't go shoot the cook. The spring rolls were great. Not the best ever, but definitely good. Ok, so now on to the meal. I love Pho but wasn't craving it that day. So I wanted my next favorite - fried rice. Again, it was pretty good. Not the most amazing ever, but pretty good especially for the price and location. Ideally it could have used a little more shrimp possibly but I liked the way they included the egg. It was cooked nicely. It was served rather plainly as a pile on a plate with a sprig of green for garnish. That's ok though, I didn't want some fancy plate with pretties on it - I just wanted a hunk of fried rice - and that's what I got. The interior was very nice and clean. Overall this is a great place to go get something like lunch or order takeout or have a nice family meal. Not really a date night type of thing or someplace to take someone to impress. This cafe was clean and the food was fast. It was a Friday night, and we had gone to 3 places before, only to find out there was a 30+ minute wait to be seated. We walked right into the Lotus Cafe and were seated immediately, and the food only took about 10 minutes to be brought to the table. Prices are also excellent! Most importantly though, the food was phenomenal. I would highly recommend the spring rolls and egg rolls! Both appetizers were some of the best I've ever eaten. We also tried the brisket and meatball pho and the chicken pad Thai. The broth in the pho was light but flavorful, and the brisket and meatballs were savory delights. The chicken pad Thai was also extremely delicious. Sometimes when you get Pad Thai it can tend to be greasy and heavy, but this was definitely not. Ordered at a heat level of 2 (out of 4), it was the perfect amount of kick. We will definitely be visiting this hidden gem again! read more
