BLACK RIVER TRAIL IS A GREAT PATH TO WALK, RUN OR BIKE…read more=================================================== At the beginning of April 2024 my son and daughter-in-law took my husband and I hiking along this trail a couple times on different days. It's really a nice paved and scenic path along the Black River. If you look at the website it says it is 4.5 miles, but I have a feeling it is much longer. The Black River is pretty long, so it might turn into dirt trails. You can actually walk close to the Black River, but I wouldn't recommend getting in because you might drown or get swept away to who knows where. I read a report recently about someone falling in. Parking: I'm pretty sure we parked at the Trailhead located at E. Rutland Street near Stone Drive. See photo. See the website for more parking locations. Great hidden gem waterfall with ample parking and a flat very well-maintained trail with two viewpoints. We did not go down to the gorge trail, but did walk down the stairs to the top of the falls. DO NOT walk anywhere that looks wet as it's VERY slippery.

We decided to cancel our reservation & was easily able to do so online. We were automatically refunded what we paid. The forecast changed again & now it was saying rain ending in the morning. We decided to drive up to PEC, have lunch & play in by ear. After we finished lunch, we looked at the forecast & it said no rain for the rest of the day, so we booked it online again and then headed over. We checked in 10 minutes prior to our reservation & the three young guys there found our reservation quickly then got us on our way. They were super helpful and friendly. We had a great time on the water! Started out grey, cool & and windy, but the weather god heard our prayers, and it turned out to be a beautiful day with sunshine :) I would definitely recommend Westlake Watersports for a pontoon rental.

They give a safety briefing and instructions upon checking in. I'd probably give more stars if I hadn't rented a pontoon elsewhere a few weeks prior to this one because the 2 stars are based on the cleanliness of the boat. The other rental cleaned their boats thoroughly to the point that there weren't any spiders nor spider webs. This boat was covered in them unfortunately.

Which is the reason for the 3 stars. First, the seasonal rate increase. While we appreciate the gradual increase for us existing campers, the amount it's going up to is a bit extreme in my opinion compared to what we were at with the previous owners. Also, the jumping pillow hasn't been replaced and that was a huge hit with the kids. With the increase rate, I feel the jumping pillow should be replaced. The store was open sporadic hours and electric readings were not done on consistent dates each month. Again overall we love the campground and just stick to our group to relax and have a good time.

A little peace of heaven located in the middle of nowhere…read more There isn't much going on in HH but I can tell you this... you will find some of the best fishing in the world. That's right, the whole blessed world! There are lots of companies you can charter with but after two trips out with Bill Saiff I am now a loyal customer. My family goes out once a year and Bill hires expert guides to find the hot spots in the harbor. The time of year plays a huge role in what you are able to catch and they always know what is hitting. They also have the best gear to monitor the waters and find your record catch. I have seen a 30 pound lake trout and a 36 inch pike get landed (I caught that one!) on my trips. Bill's communication is also outstanding. He will text you before your trip if there are any changes in terms of weather and also returns messages quickly. Bill even brings snacks on the boat. If you are hungry after your fishing adventure he has a restaurant with a decent menu. The company offers Canadian Goose hunting trips as well. Be prepared to arrive early and spend a healthy sum but I assure you Bill Saiff and his knowledgeable mates will provide you a first rate fishing experience. See you on the Harbor!

Bill definitely knew what he was doing and made the day enjoyable for newbies and experienced fishermen alike. As an add-on, Bill took some good photos that made the fish look huge and us look... like we knew what we were doing (?). Like all great captains, he threw in a few funny stories when it got slow. And he shared his celery sticks with me and whistled a lot. Good guy, great service, couldn't have asked for a better charter trip. Perfect day.

Be prepared for crowded trails on the weekends, including many people walking their dogs. If you can get there during the week, there'll be a lot less people. Most of the crowd is around the first lake. If you make the long lake loop it becomes a lot less populated. The signage could be better, if this is your first time, get a trail map or you can wind up walking around in a loop
