If you love hiking this is a fairly easy location but there is a trail along the cliffs on the shoreline. New bathroom facilities and a small museum provide information about the breeder. You can even rent out the former residence! Definitely worth checking out!!!

This site was hyped WAY more than what we got from it. For full hookups, there is only one loop…read more(Loop F) for them and they do not support larger trailers/5th wheels. The sites on this loop have a max length of 40' back-in, but when we drove them, there is absolutely no way that there were more than 2 spots that would have accommodated this and it wouldn't have been an easy fit unless you're very experienced with backing in a camper/5th wheel. The sites were extremely close together as well, with no mature trees, and not real parking for cars. Also, we noticed a trend of cars taking up extra spots and many cars for one site spilling over into others sites. We stayed in H10 and he sites were much more spacious. There were no mature trees around the campsite at all, but plenty of room for our kids to roam and play. The sites are electric only with water pump stations around. Luckily, we were situated in a spot that we could run hose to the spigot for water. We would suggest having an extra 100-150' of hose if you're planning to stay here. There is a cute park right on this loop for the kids to play at. The dump stations had very low water pressure making it difficult to flush the black tank. Additionally, they only had 3 spots for dump which meant there is a wait and it kind of sucked in the rain. We did see a lot of wildlife which was fun for the kids (and man). It was fairly quiet even though our loop was completely full. The scenery is beautiful. The river is gorgeous and fishing was fun. It was harder to find a spot to fish from - you cannot fish from the piers which is very inconvenient with little kids to navigate wet rocks and risk a fall. They have a few very nice boating docks to launch from. The store has very minimal supplies - be ready to make sure you don't need anything, or you'll have to pay the toll to get across the bridge to get to the grocery store. There are no grocery stores on the island. There is no gas stations on the island currently and there is one being remodelled. Hopefully, it'll be ready next year. It was a nice stay, but it was not as epic as we had hoped to be (and it had been hyped to be). It really isn't our go to for the future.

It is easy to find the place and some sites have some leaves or branches covered which is you need to look carefully. I gave this park 5 stars for amazing nature and location. 4 stars for bathroom because limited showers per bathroom sites even though we have a lot of sites. They have washing station next to the bathroom sites which are great and get 5 stars for this! We all need some place to wash our stuff from cooking. 5 stars for grill station that they are in great condition which is I did not expect that! Bring a lot of bug sprays because they have more insects that you don't see that often in area where you normally live. Overall staying there for camping is a wonderful place and definitely family friendly!!

SACKETS HARBOR BATTLEFIELD IS A MUST VISIT…read more======================================= Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Site is on the waterfront in Sackets Harbor. The War of 1812 battlefield was located here. The War of 1812 was between the U.S. and Great Britain and lasted from 1812 until 1815. There are lots of historic monuments and buildings around this area along with lots of walking paths along Lake Ontario. It can be really cold with the wind blowing off the lake so bring layers. We stayed in an Airbnb in April for several days and the downtown area has a few really good restaurants. We love Good Fellos and have been there multiple times. The Whiskey Coop is another good restaurant. Bring comfy shoes and walk all over the battlefield area.

After a long day at the battlefields for a lacrosse tournament, we went across the harbor to visit the Naval Yard, Commander and Lieutenant homes and walked the trail. I can't believe I didn't take more pics, but was soaking it all in. Sackets Harbor has so much history, yet is such a sleepy little town. If you're into history, Sackets Harbor is a place to visit.

Staff are all very friendly and helpful. This is a perfect location for camping or simply a nice relaxing day with family and friends. They offer small grills, tables and covered pavilions. If you're not much for grilling and rather have a quick hot bite to eat they offer a few items in their café as well. Southwick will always be top of my list when it comes to beach days in our area.

The views are amazing, the buildings at the beach look nearly new, and the lake is very beautiful. After enjoying some time in and out of the water - we were looking forward to rinsing the sand off and changing for the rest of our day. The showers in the men's bathhouse weren't working - no water. I thought...well...I can use the outdoor rinse station so I walked over and...no water! How can such a nice looking facility not have running water?!?! I get frustrated by what I consider to be dumb things like this. I think a big part of the irritation (other than the sand I couldn't rinse off my feet) was how new everything looks, but still didn't have working showers. I might come back, but the lack of showers at a state park beach I found to be enough of an irritation to five this 3 start review. Lake - wonderful Views - amazing Facilities - attractive and new looking Working showers - a complete bomb If you don't care of you have a place to rinse off after spending the day in the sand - don't hesitate for a moment. If you're like me and like that clean-ish feeling instead of the grating of sand after your day at the beach, avoid Southwick.

Oh my Goodness! What a beautiful find!!!! We were there on a Monday in late July, on a highly windy…read moreand hot day. The sky, sand, and water were all beautifully clear and stunning. We had such a large area of the beach all to ourselves. We were there for a few hours, and probably could have stayed longer. My partner said it was the most Caribbean looking beach he's ever been to not actually in the Caribbean. Things to note: Conditions might be quite different on different days. Apparently, the 1.3 trail to the beach can be wet and buggy (not when we were there!) and the water can have more algae (though it was stunningly clear during our visit). $15/person fee, with discounts for families.

BLACK RIVER TRAIL IS A GREAT PATH TO WALK, RUN OR BIKE…read more=================================================== At the beginning of April 2024 my son and daughter-in-law took my husband and I hiking along this trail a couple times on different days. It's really a nice paved and scenic path along the Black River. If you look at the website it says it is 4.5 miles, but I have a feeling it is much longer. The Black River is pretty long, so it might turn into dirt trails. You can actually walk close to the Black River, but I wouldn't recommend getting in because you might drown or get swept away to who knows where. I read a report recently about someone falling in. Parking: I'm pretty sure we parked at the Trailhead located at E. Rutland Street near Stone Drive. See photo. See the website for more parking locations. Keep in mind there are no restrooms that I saw.

I cannot say enough great things about Otter Creek Preserve. The clean and well maintained trails…read morewere so fun for our entire family. We made an afternoon of exploring. There were a lot of highlights- the big bridge, climbing the boulders to the scenic overlook of a huge marsh where we saw an enormous heron and lots of wild life- we saw porcupine, chipmunks, bunnies, and some cool birds, The trails were pretty easy, my three year old handled them well. There's even an ADA trail, making this an inclusive outdoor activity. This will remain a tradition when we go back to Thousand Islands!
