I had fun with some other patrons writing Haiku together in an effort to cheer up the owner who was in the basement batching. It was my first Haiku this decade. As a former resident of New Orleans and Logan Square, Chicago, I can be a snob, and hate the idea of another place serving mediocre "Wisconsin Old Fashions". The happy hour is out of control. The drinks are already reasonable, especially for the awesome liquor choices in their cocktail list. The cocktails are clever, fun and taste amazing. Am unfortunate experience. I surprised my husband for his 40th birthday in Milwaukee this weekend. We chose to visit The Lost Whale at 9:45 on a Sunday with 9 professional people, school principals, railroad engineers, nurses, and business managers. We were denied service upon entry because the bartender ssid one of our guests couldn't walk a straight line. This couldn't be further ftom the truth. The woman he was talking about was sober and willing to financially support this small business. We're now at The Backyard, spending our hard earned money, rather than being subject to a bartender with a control issue. read more

I was there this past Friday for the second time. The first was a little day drinking back in early October and Daniel was working. I loved the drinks and could not get over how they changed the feel of that place. I was not a huge fan of Boone and Crockett when in was there. I felt comfortable and looked forward to trying these cocktails. Fast forward to this past Friday and I was excited to try the new menu that was amazingly delicious. I started with the Scotchy scotch scotch. If you love scotch you will love this drink. The atmosphere at night is great. I loved the music and the people that were there. Daniel and Tripper are wonderful! The bartenders Brittany and (so sorry I can't remember the other great lady) were super fun, helpful and just a joy behind the bar. This is truly going to be my favorite hang spot in Bayview. read more

Good drinks but due to covid the inside seating can be a challenge. Not many seating spots and the seating could be better adjusted. Lost Whale is just the cutest little bar in Bay View. And that's why it isn't five stars - it's quite small. If it were crowded or you had more than four friends it would be far too hard to hang here. But! It was perfect for date night. We sat at the bar and chatted with the very friendly bartenders. We happened to make happy hour and what a happy hour it is! Half off house drinks (about four cocktails) and drafts. Both of my cocktails were tasty and well-made, the weirdest one was the Berry drink served in an old juice can (quick aside: I'm not from here so I had never heard of whatever fruit punch brand this was but everyone else in the bar seemed to find it normal). Berry-flavored, milky??????, pretty tasty. Not something I want more than one of, but worth a try for sure. The beer selection is pretty good, lots of interesting things to please a variety of beer-drinkers. I'd love to stop by again, especially for such a good happy hour deal. read more
