I've been grabbing drinks here for just shy of a full year now. They have great custom cocktails to select from and they regularly change up their drink menu per the season. There's something for everyone. They have seating at booths or the bar and a great mix of music (fits in with the Bay View area). They also have a back patio with fire pits, kind of like a hidden gem! Last thing: I didn't pick up on it until it was pointed out to me, but they do a birthday celebration for every astrological sign! I have seen them promote a few but assumed their staff had a birthday. read more

If you are looking for the lost whale, check the women's bathrooms ;) I've eyed this bar before because their happy hour sounds amazing. I believe it's half off cocktails during 4-6 on the weekdays. I came here on Friday night after dinner and was able to comfortably sit our group of 4 in some cozy chairs and white board table. I got the, "Drop It Like It's Hot" cocktail that is served hot. **Warning** do not drink this if you're sensitive to caffeine! I was up all night, my fault for getting too excited for a creamy cocktail. This drink would be a perfect after dinner pick up for most. I'll definitely be back to try their happy hour or come for an intimate night with friends. read more

Super chic and great drinks staff was nice! Great date spot as it's close to other attractions. Good place to start or end your night.

Atmosphere was fun and trendy. They were busy for it being a Tuesday night and having just opened for the night. Drinks were great and service was pretty quick! Very impressed with the bartenders on how they were keeping up! read more

This place is a vibe. The ambiance is nice, the bathroom is clean. It's small and very intimate but cool for a safe space with likeminded people. I went for the Chappell Roan themed night. I feel like I was cheated out of a wonderful night out. The event was 9-12am. I left after two hours and only heard 3 of her songs. It's disappointing and frustrating coming to a THEMED event and there was barely any of the artist's music played. I get trying to space the music of the artist out to keep people staying the entire night but to barely even play them is crazy. 95% of the people there were there for the themed night and expected to hear that music for the majority of the night. If we hated the repetitive songs we wouldn't have been there. Play that thing on repeat please and thank you. read more

Super super cute bar. Like it's amazing how cute this place is without being very tacky. The owners def spent time decorating and curating this space. It is a small bar but they do have a large patio space that has heaters and a back bar to serve more people. The bartender is very nice and they were attentive to my friend groups concerns. I came here for a friends birthday drink and it was fun and we had space still to allow other patrons to enjoy ourselves within our own space. Parking can be tight since it's just street parking but overall not a hastle. read more

The best drinks in MKE. Bartenders and atmosphere are phenomenal. Recommend anyone to come here, I'm never disappointed .

Such a cute, quaint place to grab a drink. The decor is super thoughtful and the drinks/service are great. I love the creativeness put into the menu. read more

This place has one of the coolest vibes of any bar in MKE. The decor and comfy couches/chairs make it feel so cozy when you walk in. The drinks are so cute, but definitely on the sweeter side! This is a great option for happy hour, and the earlier you get there the better your seat is! It's bar service only so you can order at the bar and bring your drinks to the tables. They don't have food except for cups of ramen- but it's a great spot for pre dinner or post dinner drinks! read more

Love this place! The NA drinks are great!! The rest of my group who got different drinks both with and without alcohol all loved them. The service is great although the staff does seem perpetually busy, but even with that they're incredibly nice. The ambiance is chill and they have nice couch seating inside and the outside area has 4 firepits for the winter. It was still pretty cold out even with the fires. They also have a variety of games that you can play as well. Will definitely be back and hope to get a seat inside. read more

Had a NYE reservation in the VIP area and it was GREAT. We were warm despite the 20 some degree weather and had a private area so it felt very safe/responsible as well. The tiki decor was super cute and very Instagram-worthy. Drinks were delish- the little mango bobas on the Jenny from the block were a real highlight, and our server was friendly and helpful. Absolutely will be back! read more

When I first came to Lost Whale I was just starting to learn about the different types of cocktails, normally I would prefer wine bars. However, the experience and bar is truly an unique experience. I have had the best drinks I have ever had in Milwaukee at this bar. The cocktails are very well thought out, from the ice to the garnishes. The bartenders are always friendly and care about the experience of their customers. This is why I keep coming back, I highly recommend this bar if you are looking to have some of the best tasting and creative cocktails over some conversations that will be lasting longer than expected due to the the perfectly atheistic interior. Thank you for your great service! read more

Lost Whale - Two drinks - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Hiiiiii favorite cocktail bar in Milwaukee! Lost Whale has the best craft cocktails that are ever-changing. All the flavors . Every drink it served in a different, special glass with photo-worthy garnishes. Also the retro style inside is the bomb - mid century modern. It's only small inside but very cozy, and they have a back patio if you want to enjoy your speciality drink outside. The owners, Tripper & Daniel, are the so fun - always great to catch up with! Sooo come hang with them, or one of their great bartenders and enjoy 4-6pm *half-off* daily! read more

Ah, I can't say enough about how cute this place is. Great cocktails with unique names and presentation, and the space is cozy, colorful, and comfortable. I love the decor and the specialty menus with illustrations and the story of the "lost whale" (so cute, I cannot). The bartender JC mentioned that he's the operations manager (I'm probably misremembering the title) and how the bar performed in the top ten at a cocktail competition in New Orleans recently. Amazing! Happy hour is fantastic-- half price cocktails and taps! I spent under $10 for two strong cocktails. Try the Harvey Wallbanger or any of the fun drinks that come in the retro cans. read more

Such a cute bar in Bay View! They have very fun cocktails and I like how cozy their indoor area is. I've heard that their Christmas decorations are awesome and I cannot wait to come here in the winter time. Staff is friendly too. It has a smaller inside but also a back patio which is very nice for warmer weather. read more

Great Happy Hour! $5 cocktails from 4-6PM which you cannot beat. The menu has about 10 different cocktails full of all types of spirits. Local ingredients are used and recycled, such as coffee grounds from Colectivo (love that!) One cocktail was hot which was a unique drink with whipped cream and booze. Other cocktails were refreshing for a summer day. There is outdoor patio but I have unfortunately not been on it, however the pictures look great - there is even a fireplace. This is a small, intimate spot, so groups less than four people would be ideal. There is 2 hour parking by the bar and unlimited free parking after 6/7PM I believe. The location is wonderful - right by all the other great Bayview bars and restaurants. read more

Lost Whale has friendly staff, great drinks, and a cool space you want to hang out in. I really liked their dry January menu and I hope they continue this year round! The two drinks I tried from that menu were great. Prices are super reasonable as well. I love the decor and the dry erase tables. Our group had fun playing hangman and helping a nearby table with their Pictionary game. I'll definitely be back because I'm sure they'll change the drink menu up with the seasons. read more

Craft cocktails? Affordable pricing? Count me in! Yes, it is a long walk from our house but walking a mile for good cocktails in the cold was definitely worth it. I heated up with one of their newer cocktails 'Drop It Like It's Hot". Damn that was tasty and it warmed me up from the long walk. $9 for a good cocktail isn't bad with the most expensive option at $10 bucks. They mix up a hell of a good menu that is original yet tasty. I still can't get over the wall treatment here. I can't imagine how long it took to meticulously get this on the walls. The place has a really comfy vibe. I can't wait until summer to hit the patio with the food trucks. Yes, there is a narwhal painted whimsically on the bathroom wall. Lost whale? Why wouldn't I have that on a mural? The owners are super sweet so that is also a huge bonus that aren't frequenting a place owned by @$*holes :) read more

Hello and welcome to my review! I went to this place looking for the best old fashion of MKE.. did get disappointed but not the best I tried. Place is cozy and personnel is friendly. I don't know if this is a must in Milwaukee but definitely is a safe heaven if you want cocktails Ciao read more

I'm not sure if it just so happened to occur when we were in there.... But it's this cool, trendy place with almost tiki-esque drinks, that hosts non stop early 00s hip hop. Uhhhhhhh YES PLS Their tables are dry erase so you can sit and doodle while you talk/chit chat, make collaborative scenes....it was super fun. I hear happy hour special is phenomenal, with $5 drinks from 4-6 maybe??? Sounds great! Sign me up read more

I came here once, our party never got waited on. Not sure what happened but I ended up going to another bar next door. The space is way too small for the volume of people on the weekends so that may have contributed. Wish I could have gotten to experience this place! read more

I dont get this place but perhaps that's due to the really nice cocktails? Come here if you 1. Love quirky and different cocktails... love love the cocktails ( get the one with scotch and Japanese whiskey.. really good and yes, you are welcome sweety) 2. Chill music 3. Good service and a bartender who knows his stuff P.S - If you are wondering why I started with not getting this place, its cause I dont get the lounge seating which look like they are from IKEA. Well, if am paying a good $$$ for a great cocktail, can you pls throw in some comfy, loungey chairs ? read more

It's classy, clean, bright and beautifully decorated. And I was day drinking... Yowwwwwww! The craft cocktails are intriguing but not pretentious. Dan, one of the owners, is a jovial mix master and makes you feel right at home. They have a fantastic happy hour special with their signature, high end cocktails being half price ( geez, I hope I'm remembering that correctly.. ) I had a Negroni Spritz and a Harvey Wallbanger. Both were delightful. Food trucks appear on the patio during the weekend evenings. read more

I'd only been to Boone and Crocket once so I didn't have much of a comparison to make when checking out Lost Whale. Lost Whale has a very different vibe from B & C and I liked it. It was kinda bright yet kinda dark, and the furniture had a bit of a retro vibe. I ordered a Harvey Wallbanger because I knew it was one of their premixed cocktails on tap. I liked it a lot. My only complaint is that staff and the menu didn't make it clear that they had the 4 special craft cocktails. I knew about it going in so I asked. The other people I was with enjoyed their cocktails. I'll stop in again for one but I don't see myself spending a whole night here. read more

Huge fan of the atmosphere at Lost Whale. It feels like a swanky cocktail bar, has drinks worthy of one, and yet has the most relaxed vibe inside. It's absolutely perfect for hanging out with friends and trying some great new drinks. Their pop up ideas are fantastic as well. Loved the Hocus Pocus themed drink! read more

I cannot rave enough about this spot. Visited for the first time back in January with some friends. We made reservations for the Pufferfish heated tent. Whatever we were expecting, the Pufferfish tent definitely delivered! We walked in and found ourselves in a little oasis, a nice refuge from the bitterly cold Wisconsin winter outside. With beautiful glass fire tables and friendly staff, we didn't want to leave. The drinks were delicious and with their unique names, you're sure to get a good laugh. Can't wait to return! Thank you Lost Whale! read more

Oh snap, this may become one of my new favorites! I have always loved this location back when it was Boone & Crocket. The back patio was always great then, and Lost Whale has kept up the tradition. The interior has a really cool vibe with neat decor, cozy seating, and trendy style - plus whiteboard tables you can scribble or doodle on! The back patio has tons of great seating for groups at fireside tables as well as some comfy outdoor sofas in the private deck area. The presentation and naming of the cocktails here is spectacular. Everything is amusing and gorgeous at the same time. I also love their storytelling, with their theme carrying through to the menus and the murals in the bathroom (at least the ladies room). They have some really great non-alcoholic options for the designated drivers or teetotalers in the group, too - I ordered a non-alcoholic offering called "If You Like Pina Coladas" that included lime, coconut, and a ceramic coconut cup with lots of beautiful garnish. It was super delicious! They literally put the lime in the coconut, and I had a great time. read more

Dan has opened up an absolute gem of a cocktail bar. He has a vast knowledge of how to come up with different and refreshing cocktails. The bar always has friendly patient staff. The interior of the bar is warm and quaint. Don't forget they have a expansive rear patio with gas fire pits at nearly every table! They are constantly having events and give back to the community. read more

This place is so unique with the atmosphere and drinks. They also have a large beer and wine selection. Their seasonal drinks are crafted by the bartenders and all ingredients are listed for special drinks so if you have food allergies (me), it's easy to know if you can have the drink. It's purely drinks so eat before or after. Parking in the area can be a pain if you don't know Bay View well. read more

We enjoyed the vibe of this bar! They have really cool specialty drinks and were quick to getting us our drinks. We had old fashions and they were great! I also got an Oops Not Berries and it was delicious and looked cute in the can they put it in. It was a relaxed bar but it is a bit dark in there. Overall we liked the music and enjoyed the drinks. Will definitely return read more

This is where the old Boone and Crockett used to be. They did a really nice job redecorating it to rebrand it as lost whale. I especially like the menu which is actually a children's book which is really cool. They have some really interesting drink selections as well. One is called beetle juice and it actually comes with a temporary tattoo of beetle juice clipped onto the glass with a tiny clothespin. Super fun! read more

I've been wanting to check out Lost Whale for awhile and finally was in the area. I LOVE it. The decor is super casual and relaxing. It's a great place to hangout with a friend or group. The bartender that served us was energetic, fast, and made delicious drinks! Can't wait to go back read more

We came here on a Sunday. It was nice because they had a great 1/2 off happy hour. There was one person working and a lot of people had come in because it was the day before Memorial Day. I think their drinks are great. However, we had bad service (my exact experience is below). Because there are several other options in this area with drinks that are just as good (i.e. any bayview cocktail bar, twisted path distillery), great happy hour specials (hotel madrid, boone, etc.) and have other cool things like live music or a great patio or great food (barnacle buds, boone & crockett), I won't go back here. The group I was with was out back, so I came in and originally ordered 3 drinks and a water. She made two and told me to come back later for the third. This was fine because I only had two hands to carry out the first two. When I came back to get the third, it was a long wait for the rest of the people to get their drinks. This was fine by me, as I understood it was busy. When I got the third drink and asked for the water, she let me know she was bothered by saying "yeah I guess." In that time another couple who had come to the bar just left because nothing was said to them (ex. "hey we've had a bit of an influx in the last couple minutes but i'll be with you after these two people." Instead she was talking to her friends - which I normally don't mind either but she was annoyed by the customers. By the time I had returned to the table out back it had been over a half hour since I had ordered the first drink so half the table went back to get a second round. Three went in at 5:53 to grab a second drink before happy hour was up. One person asked for a liquor switch in a drink (rail, not more expense), and she said it wouldn't be counted in the deal. Then, by the time she got to the third person it was 6:03pm. I think it's in good taste to just give the customer the happy hour deal given the context of them coming up to the bar enough in advance. And even not giving the deal is fine but again she said "yeah I'm definitely not giving you the happy hour deal" before he even said anything. read more

If you're looking for a spot for Happy Hour and drinks deals, this may be your spot. Located on KK Ave in BayView, it's a great spot to catch up with friends over drinks. If you're into Old Fashions this might a place to add to your list. They have 1/2 staple drinks and on Sunday after happy hour you can get a deal on $5 Old Fashions. They even have an Old Fashion punch card. If you're looking for a chill outdoor spot, a cozy vibe for a date this may be on your list. read more

Lost Whale is my current favorite place in MKE for a craft cocktail. Named for an April Fools Day news article about whale sightings in Lake Michigan that has spawned a social media group, the Lost Whale has been a great addition to the Bayview bar scene. The atmosphere is relaxed with comfy love seat and armchairs to augment the bar. The patio is also a great (and usually quieter space) during the summer. I've been there three times now and each visit has been a very positive experience. The bartenders are knowledgeable and service is friendly and reasonably quick. There are ever changing specials that highlight classic cocktails such as the Blood and Sand that are not often seen at other lounges. And they hit my favorite, the Aviation, perfectly. One additional aspect of the Lost Whale that resonates is their commitment to sustainability and the environment. Owners Tripper Duval and Daniel Beres have taken every measure possible to reduce the Lost Whales footprint including using compostable straws and recycling the fresh citrus rinds and skins as additional drink ingredients before adding them to the compost pile. read more

If I could go to Lost Whale for happy hour everyday, I would! This place rocks and I am constantly craving the Negroni Spritz. During happy hour (4 pm - 6 pm on weekdays), all of the signature cocktails are half off (so around $5). I also believe there is a beer/rail special, but why get those during happy hour when the yummiest drinks are only $5?! Beyond the happy hour, the atmosphere of this place is so cute. They have done a wonderful job making the intimate space feel casual yet romantic. There are big, comfy chairs and couches to sit in as well as super modern looking lights and tables. The service is always speedy and friendly, but I have never been here at a time when it has been particularly busy. Later in the evening (around 6 pm) they have the Iron Grate BBQ truck in the back. I have yet to try this but am hoping to soon! read more
