Spent a great afternoon at the Lost River Cave area. The boat tour is definitely worth doing. Our tour guide did a good job sharing about the area and the cave. Very cool boat ride through the cave lasting about 20 min. Even our 3 year old found it very entertaining. This would also be a great place to bring a picnic or walk the trails. You could easily spend a morning or afternoon here. read more

Our group of 9 adults had a blast doing the boat tour and zip line. All staff and guides where very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the park and safety. The boat is great for all ages and zip line for adults, teens and older kids. (There is a little kid zip line too). I highly recommend for adult groups and families. read more

This was fun; the boat tour was cool and the cave was beautiful. But for the same price, Mammoth Cave gives you a much bigger bang for your buck. Lost River Cave was a cute (read: short) trip. The grounds and trails are stunning, and the history was interesting. We did a 2 hour hike at Mammoth and drove down to Lost River on the same day, for the same price. Glad we did it, but next time we'll probably do two different hikes in Mammoth. read more

Spent the day at Lost River Cave yesterday! A place I have been wanting to go and hearing about for a long time. It is a great trip to take and it also benefits our school children so that they may continue to visit also. All ticket cost and Gift Shop prices go to keeping the park open. This is not a federally funded park. It depends solely on the cost of the tickets and Gifts items bought at the gift shops and other various activities to continue operation. This is a nonprofit organization. Great time of year to visit the cave and walk the trails which are decorated with Halloween. Loved This Place & I wish my husband was with me when I went !! I love visiting caves, I took my 7 year old son and if u have a child who is dramatic and scared of the dark than be ready to say, " Baby, It's ok " a thousand times ( maybe thats just me ) I enjoyed the boat ride. You will have to walk back to the front. Depending on what month you go it will be 45 minutes. We didn't get the 45 minute ride. Someone on the boat ask why we couldnt go all the way down and he said something and I forgot. But, Please ask once you there, I mean get your money worth. The tickets you will get from the gift shop and walk through the woods, over the bridge and then u will be at the benches where the captain of the boat will pick u up. I'm only giving it 4 stars because we didn't get the 45 minute ride ( bummer ) I wish I could remember what he said.. But, I dont want to give you the wrong info. It will be 45 degrees inside the cave, they give the kids a life jacket if you are 12 and under. So if you don't like cool temperatures bring something for those arms OH.., if you're going during the hot months FOR THE LOVE OF GOD bring some WATER !!!! Can you believe that when we got done with all that walking we went back to the gift shop to see about buying water, They didnt have ANYTHING, I mean NOTHING!!!! They had DOTS ICECREAM . I would take a star off for that, But Im not. ( I still had fun) Eventually I did see a vending machine outside the gift shop and that's $2.00 , I didn't have cash on me .... On the walking trail you will see water fountains ( please make sure your kid don't put their lips on it , I know I did ... I'm a germ freak ) and beside maybe a bird poop on the fountain, Im just saying. read more

The staff was incredibly friendly. The tour was informative and after walking the miles of the mammoth cave tours it was nice to sit and enjoy. Our tour guide Paige was engaging and great at telling corny jokes. Just one tip for her...don't talk about how the boat once broke down and you had to swim just before the part of the tour where you have to duck way down as the roof of the cave scrapes over your head (especially if someone on the tour has trouble with tight spaces). Make sure you take the time to walk some of the nature trails. The butterfly house was beautiful and to see other wildlife at the "blue hole" was really cool! I recommend if you're passing through Bowling Green to stop by. read more

Wonderful experience! While the boat tour is about a 1/4 mile, the serenity of the cave is worth it. Amazing to think there are these types of caves throughout the area. Can make you realize how the sink hole occured at the Corvette museum Love the walking trails as well. Hearing the history and folklore if the case was neat. Recommended. read more

Lost River Cave was a fun part of my family's quick day trip to Bowling Green. We got on the 2nd tour of the day with about 6 others. The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging with our group. The tour starts in the woods after a short walk, and you get to hear about some history of the blue/green water and the depth of the bottomless hole. You then continue on about how they still hold functions such as weddings there and then get to the cave and boat tour. The tour is about 1/2 hour and for the beginning of the boat tour you have to be flexible for about 20 seconds in and 20 seconds out. You can use your imagination. The rest of it shows some interesting natural formations. You also get to hear stories of how the place got started as a dance hall and jazz juke joint for the big bands. Another story tells about Jesse James. Nice to do at least once and then you can go visit other caves. I'd recommend the tour. AAA gets you 10% off, and a Yelp check-in gets your kids a discounted tour/miner's gravel to sift through for some colored minerals! read more

My wife has been wanting to go here on our last 3 trips to Bowling Green so this time we were going to make it no matter what. It is an interesting tour. The trip into the cave doesn't take too long - maybe 30 minutes. But it is nice and cool and is a nice break on a hot sweltering summer day. It is interesting to see the dance floor and imagine the big bands playing there and people dancing. The trails are not too long. Wear good shoes as the trails have rocks roots and steps to walk over. Watch your step so you don't trip. A little pricey for what you get but it goes to help preserve the park. read more

A fantastic little adventure. It was very interesting to learn the history of the cave and all of the ways in which it has been used. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the blue hole was in person. Kayaking was better than going on the boat ride. Our guides were awesome. Delaney had so much knowledge and she was a real joy. AJ was a little rude and impatient towards the end there but I would still recommend this activity. read more

We had so much fun! Our tour guide Paige was very knowledgeable and fun. Go, Pack, Go! We arrived a couple hours before our boat tour was scheduled and walked the nature trails, did some geocaching (several caches along the trails!), and the kids did a little gem mining. The trails are really well maintained with some cool spots to stop and check out, including the butterfly house. Would have been a great spot for a picnic if we had planned ahead. read more

Really neat! ... Our tour guide was 'Rebecca'- she was great! Very knowledgeable, answered questions, good sense of humor, and you can tell loves what she's doing! She gets 5 stars! However, while the tour itself was super cool, it was a lot shorter than we thought it would be...and we would have loved to have been encouraged to see more of the other exhibits as well... because of that, minus 1 star. It was very misleading. The "walking tour" is to the entrance of the cave where you see a blue hole. Then the guide stopped at the entrance to talk for ten plus minutes. The actual boat tour was cool but only lasted another ten minutes. For $20 a person, I expected more than a ten minute tour. I would not count the walk to the cave part of the tour. Plus there are no real cool formations. They did say that they wash away since the cave floods. read more

Living 3+ hours away from the cave we'd need plenty of warning if the tour was going to be cancelled. It was raining the night before so they sent a courtesy warning email stating they'd email everyone by 9am the next morning (day of) if they were going to cancel the tours. The next day rolls around and we receive no email or call until 1.5 hours into our drive there (2 hours after their 9am deadline). Naturally we (wife and 2 kids) were upset that we couldn't tour the cave and even more upset that this company couldn't do what they said they'd do and give everyone ample warning the tour was being cancelled. Terrible customer service when we called as well. We went to the crystal onyx cave instead where they not only accommodated us last minute, but were great all around. read more

This is a fantastic quick family outing for all ages! We were visiting from nearby with a group of 7 that included 2 adults and 5 children between the ages of 16 to 18 months old. We signed up for the first tour of the day at 9:30 which I would highly recommend. It wasn't crowded yet or too hot. Of course once you descend to the cave entrance it cools of immensely, wonderful for the hot July day we visited! You may want to bring a sweater if you get cold easily, but it felt like heaven to us. They have paved the trail to the cave entrance so it is easily accessible to all. Our tour guide Chad was very knowledgeable about the area history and kept us entertained at the same time, he obviously loves what he does!! Thanks again Chad! We also enjoyed visiting the Butterfly Garden. It was a 1/4 mile hike on a trail that we made with our stroller. I would advise using the Lower trail only if you have a stroller, the Upper Trail has more exposed tree roots read more

Worth a stop and visit! You stop in the visitor center to buy tickets. It is a very nice gift shop so don't get trapped lol. Go visit the cave and come back. The cave itself is a short walk down a path and over a bridge to your tour meeting spot. Once the tour takes off it makes a brief stop at a blue hole then onto the cave. Once you finally get on the boat, there is a brief period on ducking down in the boat to pass a rock shelf so if your claustrophobic stay calm it goes by quickly. The boat tour itself is short I think maybe 20 min. As for the sound of rushing water, no need to panic you won't go over. So come check it out! Active Military get in FREE! read more
