I recently visited Mammoth Cave National Park, which is only about a 1.5-hour drive from Nashville,…read moreand it was such an amazing experience! Seeing the longest cave system in the world in person was honestly incredible. We arrived around noon, and the parking lot in front of the visitor center was pretty full, but there's additional parking available in the back, which made things easy. We did the Historic Tour (the most popular tour), and it lasted about 2 hours. Our tour guide was awesome, super funny, informative, and made the whole experience really entertaining. One thing to know before going: there are a few sections where you have to crawl or squeeze through tight spaces, so keep that in mind if you're claustrophobic. But overall, it was such a cool adventure and unlike anything I've done before. The caves are absolutely fascinating, and I'd definitely come back to try some of the other tours they offer!

I thought it was closer to freeway but you soon realize it's a bit of a trek. Plenty of parking. You can purchase the tour tickets on site or online. Facilities are nice but a good majority(if not all of them?) of the interactive museum features were 'not functioning' so just wander and read all the details and stories posted along the walls. It's crazy that the place was a tourist attraction way back in the day. You'd have to plan for being on the roads for probably days to get here. Tour was cool. Very pretty. Out ranger was super personable and seemed to love his job so that's nice. Glad we decided to drop by and check it out on our way back from Chattanooga.

Bucket list item checked off my list!…read more After moving to Nashville I knew I wanted to do a road trip up to Kentucky to see the caves. Did the Domes and Dripstones tour. 2 hours. Approximately a mile, up and back down 500 or so stairs. Gregg, our tour guide, was just the best! Seeing the intricacies of the caves was simply mind boggling. If you ever find yourself nearby, definitely check it out. Free parking and only $20 for the tour, a must do!

Mammoth cave accessible tour is a death trap waiting to happen…read more On April 2nd 2026 we booked the accessible cave tour for our family with our son who has muscular dystrophy and who is wheelchair bound and requires a ventilator to breathe. There's an elevator that takes us down into the cave 267 feet. There were two tour guides. We split up into two groups because we couldn't all fit in the elevator at once. We were in the second group to go down. However, when it was our turn, the elevator stopped working. They called maintenance. After about 10 minutes they got the elevator to work. I asked the maintenance person, "if we go down are you sure that it will work to take us back up". He said that he couldn't say. He said sometimes they have to call in an engineer and that it could take a long time....like hours. I explained that if the elevator didn't work, we would need the fire department to carry him out the 267 feet. I then asked how often do you get in situations where the elevator can't be fixed and somebody has to be taken out by emergency crew. He told me about 10 times a year (doing the math is about once every 36 days). Needless to say that's way too high of a risk to be in a life or death situation. We got our car and went home. Mammoth cave is accessible in name only. Families need to know this before they trust people that they shouldn't, and put their medically fragile loved ones into dangerous situations.

If I were going to give a down check, it would be the very pricey restaurant that is on the property. Very good, but very pricey. We usually opt to get a delivered pizza! Mary, the bartender for the managers reception and Damian, treat us very personably almost like family. We don't mind spending a couple extra dollars there due to that. And another thing, they have an automatic toaster at the breakfast area that toasts perfectly the first time and every time! I wish all the Embassy Suites would buy that particular electronic toaster! Keep up the great work!

Pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Embassy Suites in Bowling Green! Upon entering the lobby,…read morewe were impressed with the welcoming staff, cleanliness, and the fun decor features (green wall behind the front desk, water feature, fire place by sitting lounge & outdoor fountain/ fire pit). Throughout the hotel hallways, you'll find many artfully designed pictures of different corvettes, as this location isn't far from the Corvette Museum. Our room was spacious and clean with a view of the outdoor fountain. The room was insulated well enough to not hear our neighbors or people walking down the hall. Happy hour included a choice of beverage as well as different snacks - and if you have a non alcoholic preference (i.e. for kids) during happy hour, there is no charge for those. The pool was a welcome treat after a long, hot Kentucky day, clean and perfect for the entire family, with an outdoor seating area as well. The gym had various machines but we didn't get a chance to use them during our stay. Breakfast is better than your average continental breakfast, with omelets, eggs, pancakes and waffles made to order. Buffet options also available and coffee made with a push of a button. Overall, the experience here was great and I'd happily return here next time I'm in the area.
