As soon as I saw the dentist, I was hit with a list of issues including a diagnosis of early gum disease, and was recommended a deep cleaning along with several other treatments. I declined and asked if I could waive the additional services and just get the standard cleaning I originally came in for. What raised a red flag for me is that I've consistently seen the same dentist multiple times over the past few years, not jumping around, but returning to a provider I trusted. My last visit was only six months ago, and every time, I was told things looked fine overall, aside from a reminder to floss a bit better. Before that, I also had a cleaning abroad after a long break from dental care, and even then, nothing alarming came up. So it was surprising to hear that in just six months, my teeth supposedly now require a deep cleaning and additional procedures. It really felt like the promotional pricing was being used as a tactic to upsell treatments I wasn't expecting and hadn't previously needed. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to anything here.
