The atmosphere felt calm and friendly with campfires, laughter, and the sound of water nearby. Teenagers would love how social and laid back it feels because it gives them a chance to enjoy nature without pressure. The service was helpful especially when checking in or asking about campsite options. The value was excellent with affordable camping and RV spots. The quality of the grounds and river access was high and everything felt safe and well managed. The selection of activities like camping, exploring, and relaxing by the water made it perfect for teenagers who enjoy the outdoors. I have only been there once before writing this review but it was one of the most refreshing places I have visited. I highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a chance to enjoy nature in a playful and peaceful way.

The camp ground gives special treatment to the renters of their choice. The staff seem to be a bunch friends of the manager who don't know how to do their jobs and don't care to learn. The public bathrooms are always dirty and they just keep painting over the dirt and rust. Rent keeps going up with no facility improvements to show for it. This used to be a fun place to bring the family, the people there used to be friendly and neighborly. So glad to be leaving this park. Will not be back and do not recommend.

So bring water, toiletpaper & supplies, sunscreen & deepwoods off and proper clothes n u'll b ok. Don't 4get 2 tow your own trash to show u appreciate the hospitality. Visited Walter's Camp on my first canoe camp trip on 3/13/25. I was pleased to see that it wasn't…read morebusy. Tabitha, the camp host helped me get set up and gave me the lay of the land. The general store has a few items, merchandise, and even a bar back that is used when the camp is in full swing after Memorial Day according to Tabitha. I chose a far site at the edge of the property underneath two tamarisk/salt cedar trees which was great for shade. I launched my canoe at the concrete boat ramp and paddled the old Colorado River channel right out in front of the camp which is not lacking in it's scenery of Cibola Natl Wildlife Refuge and the beautiful Trigo Mountains Wilderness viewable eastward. Nighttime is where things came alive! Dozens of braying burros, coyotes, and owls that would hoot up a storm in the trees above me. An a/c or refrigeration until by the general store ran in cycles all night and was about as annoying as someone running a generator. The facilities provided had showers and pit toilets, all in good condition. Taking a moment to stretch/yoga before the morning paddle in the communal hang out area in front of the general store was a great idea. I was greeted by an amazing SW sherbet sunrise over the calm waters of the inner channel of the Colorado, it was spectacular. I'm typically a dispersed camper, so some of my gripes about the noise you can probably take with a grain of salt. Would I stay the night again? Sure, but I'd prefer something a bit more isolated. Thank you Tabitha for all your advice on boating the river as a novice, appreciate what you do!

A sign in the window said "be back soon". After waiting in the heat for about 20 minutes I called the number I had for them and was told to use the microphone by the building and someone would come help. Well ok nice to know. We got checked in and were told they had no power or water. It would be on before 9 pm. And then they put us in the second row and said no one but members get the front row. Well you would think if they are trying to sell you a membership they would try to really treat you. There were several spots open in the front row. Our neighboring RV in the 2nd row was about 15 feet away from our front door. Their sewer hose ran right next to our picnic table. By the time e finally got settled in and were able to turn on the AC it was time for bed. The next morning we took our dogs down to the dog beach. Where exactly is it? Had to walk thru other people's camps to finally get to it. It was a pretty good walk from our location which was a bit hard for seniors with mobility issues. After the dog park we were pretty much ready to leave. The park has no shade and unless you want to sit outside and smell your neighbors sewage you have no other choice than to just sit in your RV. With dogs, we didn't want to leave them in the RV to annoy our neighbors who would surely be able to hear the if they barked. So we packed up and left and found a beautiful Arizona state park to stay at. Emerald Cove might be okay for some but it just wasn't it for us.

A real challenge to get a class A motorhome level. You would think when making a new campground the sites would be level. Most sites short only 37 ft. Today's rvs are much larger. If you have a trailer it easier to level. Most staff very helpful but the main ranger thinks he is a drill sergeant with attitude. We wanted to see the actual park before coming as this new loop we had never seen. We were at another state park and had reservations for this park. No way. You have to pick off the website that does not show accurately the way you will face. So our site got all afternoon sun. We couldn't even enjoy the outside with such hot conditions. Five star campground if sites were level and the jerk ranger wasn't here.

We usually spend the days at the beach where we can dock our boats, however this year people left all their easy ups on the beach all night long and we weren't able to get a spot. My daughter reported this to the ranger who said he noticed and would go talk to them, but it happened again Saturday night. This isn't fair to everyone and I can't understand why the rules aren't being enforced. Everyone should be able to have a chance to get a spot at the beach if they get up early and so desire. We love to have our family reunion there every year, but this year was disappointing.

We felt sorry for the tent campers in the 115° heat. We stayed in Space #23 on the end and closest to the water. The tent campers line the grassy cove. The cove leads to a short sandy beach that is protected from the wake of the river boats. In the morning we hiked up the trail on the mountain side to the chairs. Incredible views of the river. There's a grassy dog area, boat ramp, 2 public bathrooms, cactus garden, dump for the RV waste and the rangers were nice and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
