This place is easily overlooked, but for somebody with celiac disease a whole menu that's gluten free is incredible. The atmosphere is good, laid back. A very clean and well-run establishment! You can even buy fresh tortillas to go. Staff were friendly and quick with service. read more

Fantastic!! Authentic!! I am Celiac so this was an incredible dining experience!! We were welcomed like family at the table. The guac to start was so tasty! A delicious Burrito and Quesadilla followed by a phenomenal Oreo cheesecake! We are on an annual Spring golf trip, traveling from NJ to SC and decided to make this a stop on our journey as it is easy on/off 295 around Richmond. read more

The service was very welcoming and friendly. When you come in you are able to seat yourself. This is a family owned business and they take pride in the food they serve and their hospitality. You are greeted with traditional Hispanic music playing in the background. It's small, so large groups may have to spread out and sit at different booths or tables, you can also get your food to go. They offer catering for your big event. The food is prepared fresh but the wait is not long. I rated it four stars out of five because most taco plates come with three tacos instead of two. We started off with the chips and salsa it was also made fresh. We had the taco plates and ended with sliced mango. I will be back again, it was fresh and flavorful. read more

Delicious tacos! Would totally recommend this spot! I wish I would've gotten more tacos!

The food was soooo good, the only reason it gets less than five stars is because the portions are pretty small for what you'd expect. I eat a lot and I could've eaten probably another plate. But really great flavor, makes me want to try more of the menu! Inside isn't too big but ambience is nice and service was good too. read more

I've been driving past this place since they've opened and randomly decided to stop by a few weeks ago, I'm so glad I did. This place has the best authentic tacos you're going to get around here. Please keep in mind, this is NOT your normal "Mexican" restaurant that we normally find. There is typically 1 or 2 servers on, who also bartend, so if there's a few tables in there just be patient. Their salsa is one of the best I've tasted, it's very mild with great flavor. They also have different salsas you can ask for (salsa verde and a spicy one, my favorite is the mango habanero one- which believe me, a little goes a long way). The carne asada tacos are very good, the meat is tender and not dry and chewy like I've found most places to be. I've also had the birria tacos, which are probably my favorite so far. The birria tacos here are NOT greasy, like other places, and they have great flavor! You can upgrade to a platter and get sides, you have choices there. Side items I've had- yuca fries, Mexican rice, and black beans, all good. The elote loco (Mexican street corn) is good too! For dessert I've tried the Oreo cheesecake, amazing. They also have really good margaritas. I've been back twice already in the past month and I'll definitely be going back more. It's very small and on the inside but don't let that or the location fool you (it's right beside a laundry mat). It's clean and not a lot of noise. read more

Listen. This place hooked me in with a photo shared by the county in which I felt like the obvious freshness and deliciousness were SO APPARENT that I decided my entire family was going to Los Tios for my birthday the very next night. A gamble, for sure. But I won it. And I won it good. Handmade tortillas made minutes before I ate them. Insane sides (get the nopales, which I again gambled on just because I thought the name would be fun to say, and again I won). The meats? Good lord. We had the fried plantains as an appetizer, which was actual perfection. Our entrees were carne asada in platter and taco form, al pastor tacos, and the shrimp tacos at the bottom of the menu that I forgot the proper name for. It was all so daggone good. None of the weird Mexican food grease that usually coats things. Just flavors and happiness. Yelp wants me to talk about the ambiance, and honestly it's the only shortcoming of the whole experience, being located right beside a laundromat and all, but if you look real closely it doesn't matter because the food makes you forget about everything else. read more

This family owned local business has great customer service. The waitress was very nice. The carne asada and lengua tacos were delicious. The corn tortillas didn't fall apart or get soggy. I finally found an authentic taco shop comparable to those in SoCal. I will definitely be coming back to try other fillings. Do not let the surrounding area dissuade you from dining here. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant, owner and staff. It is our favorite place for mexican food with a gourmet twist. Every friend we've taken to the restaurant say it's their favorite place too. There is nothing bad on their menu and their specials are out of this world! Start with the elote apetizer. It's like magic on a stick! read more

Absolutely delicious- so fresh and flavorful. Menu is amazing- if you want the real deal, stop by this restaurant! Highly recommended!

Great birria tacos, al pastor tacos where ok not the best I've had. Prices are good, service is also good, place is cozy and casual.

This place is a gem! The menu is gluten free but if you're not don't let that stop you! The food was fresh and delicious and the server was warm and attentive. The owner came out to chat and was so pleasant. 10/10 recommend. We drove 38 minutes to get there from Richmond and we'll be back for sure. Leaving church and saw this little gem so of course I had to check it out!!! I just ordered a little tasting 2 tacos and some plantains. I'm not a big fan of corn tortillas but these were not bad considering all of the flavors were coming from the inside!!! The carna Asada was tender and the lettuce was fresh! The chicken Chipotle was filled with shredded chicken. Next time I will get that one gringo style also. Those plantains were hot and delicious!!!! I have to ration those so I can savor the flavor!! We took our order to go but they do have a small seating section for dine in. I must come back to try their meals!!! read more

Nothing to write home about... this is a mom and pop Mexican restaurant with run of the mill authentic food. The portion sizes are paltry for what you pay and the quality is about average. If you are new to the area I suggest trying other establishments. Also a 20% mandatory tip is bolted on so pay attention to your bill before adding extra tip. I will say the servers are nice and owners are very friendly. If you show up with a large party they may even let you karaoke. read more

One of my favorite spots! The drinks are SUPER delicious. If you're daring, the lengua tacos are to die for!

Nice family restaurant. Wish the hours were later but cool that they're 100% gluten free.

Amazing Latino/Mexican authentic fares serving the freshest entrees made from scratch (WOW!) + 100% gluten free. Our favorites ~ Blueberry Mint Mojito, Guacamole, Pico de Gallo, Carnitas, Frijoles Charros, House Potatoes and Cheesecake Jalapeno. Excellent customer service in a cozy friendly environment. Highly recommend and will be back for Yuca and slow roasted Short Ribs. read more

What a great addition to area restaurants! The regular salsa is some of the best I've ever had -- for real it had some heat and flavor; not like most restaurants around here which give you something based on tomato puree. The hotter salsas are excellent as well. Chips are for-real freshly fried tortillas. This restaurant will spoil you for other Mexican places' chips-and-salsa offerings. Rice and black beans are tasty but not exceptional. Tacos are great -- I had one rockfish and one pork belly. The proprietor is really nice and helpful. One of our party has celiac disease and was very pleased with Los Tios scrupulous efforts to ensure a gluten-free environment. They connected over another gluten-free restaurant in Richmond that the owner used to be involved with. The restaurant has a pleasing funky-but-clean vibe. read more

5/5 STARS! Los Tios has the absolute best customer service. My battle buddies & I came here for our end of course meal & the staff & food were both amazing. They stayed open an extra 30 mins for us & let us sing karaoke. Our food came out fast & so did our drinks. We all had a great time! 10/10 & I def recommend for quality food & a GOOD TIME! read more

$9 margs is insane. Had dirt in my water cup, asked for a different glass and still dirty glass. Food was 5/10 and pricey.

Food is great and consistent. Today the chef gave me a free taco just so that I could try his new flavors. I appreciate that!! I recommend this place for always serving great food and great customer service. read more

This restaurant is not Tex-Mex! I'm not sure exactly but I think the cuisine is more South American... someone who knows please correct me. Our lunches were good, but different than either of us expected. read more

Sorry, didn't take pictures.... The Mexican corn was exceptional. Really, the best Mexican corn I've had. We got steak, pulled pork and the Mexican sausage & egg tacos. The steak was good. The sausage was yummy but spicy and the pork to me was bland. But, my husband loved all three tacos. Im a sauce kinda gal and they only had 2 sauces. A Verde which was too sour and a Habanero that was sour and hot. Neither of us liked the sauces. We ordered the potatoes and the rice. Both were good. Again, I like something on my rice, same as my tacos. We ordered the Tres Leches and it was yummy. I'll go back just for the corn, and try their quesadilla or burrito. They make their own tortilla's. And, everything is made from scratch. Not out of a bag. ***Everything here is Gluten free and you can't tell it by the taste. They even carry the gluten free beer. Super friendly. Owner came out and talked to us for a while after we finished. Server was fast and friendly. Great place to experience. Don't be fooled by the outside. Hidden gem inside and very clean! read more

The only thing I expect from a taqueria is good tacos. Fortunately this place is clean with a friendly staff and the food is authentic. I got lengua tacos and pupusas and both exceeded expectations. Will be returning soon! read more

This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. It's an authentic, taqueria with fresh ingredients and lots of flavor. I'm not normally a fan of corn tortillas (they don't have flour) but these are outstanding! The pinto beans are easily the best I've ever had - I wanted to drink the bean juice! Each time I've gone, I've gotten a different selection of tacos. I recommend the pollo chipotle and carne asada gringo style. The restaurant is small; a handful of booths and a few tables big enough for a party of 6 but I haven't had any problem getting a table at lunch time. read more

Doesn't look like much, but the service was fast and the food was fantastic. Can't wait to go back. Next time I'll order homemade tortillas and try something else. My tostada with carne asada and my husband's chicken huarache were delicious. If you like grilled jalapenos and onion (chiles gallos on their menu) order them stove hot, because otherwise they're served like a cold salad. They were very good even cold, but next time i'd order them hot with extra jalapenos because it was heavy on the onions (which I love) but I'm crazy about jalapenos. The seating area is smallish (maybe 32+ at full capacity) so go early or late to avoid the lunch rush. Oh, the house margaritas were delicious also. read more

We love Los Tios!!!! My sister in law introduced us to them as this is one of her go to restaurants because she has celiac and they are 100% gluten free! My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything we have ate there and the owner and staff are very friendly and want to make sure you have the best experience! It is definitely a hidden gem! Very clean and when we went over the weekend for dinner they had a candle on the table that was a nice touch to give the "romantic feel" for a date night! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!! read more
