Service was OK, the gentleman that took care of us did a decent job in trying to make sure we were taken care of but unfortunately the food here is just not good. I personally was dying to try there Shrimp Cocktail, (what a disappointment!!!) first of, all it is, is Thawed out, frozen shrimp, with diced LARGE chunks of Tomato, LOTS of Clamato Juice, NO SEASONING, super bland, Honestly, SUPER disappointed, looked AMAZING! Just no love!!! :( Next, Steak Tacos, SUPER, SUPER dry steak tacos, ABSOLUTELY NO seasoning, what a shame!! I will say this, two things we tried with the group we went n was fairly good was the fried Mojara(Snapper) Heads up if u don't like whole fish, maybe not for U! N the Carnitas were pretty decent! The place seems nice and clean. The food, not great. I ordered Chile Colorado. This is supposed to be meat stewed in a red chile sauce. The meat tender and the sauce thick and full of flavor. At least it's been that way in every other Mexican place I've been to in the past 20 years. What I got was chopped steak with tomato sauce. Meat was tough, no flavor in the sauce, and runny like water. The waitress never came by to check on me. So, I ate the beans and rice, and chips. Mexican is one of my favorite foods, and I'm of the mindset the more authentic the better. After checking out a softball game that some friends were playing in dinner was suggested and I was brought to this place. They have outdoor and indoor seating options, everything is clean and the service is very prompt. The menu is intimidating; there are so many options pretty much all of your standards when you visit a Mexican restaurant. I decided to get the texas margarita, and I liked it very much, they didn't go crazy on the mix, so it was flavorful and refreshing. The chips are great, crunchy and not greasy, I've found at other places chips can be very oily. We also had their house salsa and queso. For dinner, I got the tacos El pastor, and I was very impressed they came with corn tortillas, onion, and cilantro. The meat was seasoned to perfection and just all around good. I placed my order to go but they had a full house on a Monday evening!! Upon entering I was I informed the Host that this was my first visit. After handing me a menu, he lead me to a bench so I could comfortably make my decision. I chose the 3 tacos combo with a side of beans and cheese. THAT WAS A LOT of DELICIOUS food for a great price! Started with himemade nacho chips as seated. Nice touch! Had the chili rellenos, it is homemade and very tasty. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant decor could use a 'bit' of an update but the food was good and not expensive at all. I enjoyed the meal. read more

This is always a great Mexican food experience. I really love the atmosphere and the service is fast. They offer big 36 ounce beers for cheap price as well. I usually get the combination number 11, which is one burrito, one taco, and one enchilada. It is so good for $8.99. With all that food and free chips and salsa this is an excellent deal. Stopped by for lunch since this restaurant is close to my work. Drink and chips + salsa came out quickly. The chips are from a bag and had little taste. The salsa was runny and very acidic with little fresh taste. I ordered the lunch steak burrito. The strips of steak were cooked well with a little sear on them but the burrito had the same amount of onions as steak. The red sauce on top tasted like a cheap pasta sauce, very tomato forward. The "mexican" rice side was very dry and bland. The dish came with a small pile of shredded lettuce and some diced tomatoes. I do not recommend ordering the steak burrito. read more

The decor is typical of a Mexican restaurant in Indianapolis with the addition of a few TV's around the dining room. The Salsa was amazing with great flavor and a little bit of spicy to back it up. The food came out quickly and was steaming hot when served. I ordered the chicken fajitas (my typical) and it was good. It came with re fried beans (it was an extremely thin layer (1/4") with a little cheese on the top, and some rice. they chicken was tasty, but only came with green peppers and onion. We both got the chicken quesadilla (told them to exchange the typical shredded chicken for the grilled). Our waiter took our order and brought our food in less than 5 minutes! We also ordered the Texas Margarita. Our waiter didn't charge us for extra for Patron the guacamole taste super fresh! Would recommend a bit of makeover for the atmosphere. This is one of those "Mixed Reviews" type of places. I bought a margarita for my birthday. Everyone I was with said theirs was fine but mine tasted like tequila and syrup. 2-3 stars on that one. After coming for the 3rd time, service between 3-4. They are VERY forgetful. They're polite and semi quick. For me and my food, I give it 5 stars. My friends had more issues than I did. I'm not picky though and I keep things the way they are. So my order has always been accurate. But! If you like food a certain way that's understandable. Waiters should deliver according to the customer. And they do not lol. Food, I've had better but I still think it's very good! Unfortunately sometimes a surprise occurs with the food. A coworker hates spicy food. So their menu isn't specific with the taste, ingredients, or the level of heat! I love guacamole and I'm ok with spicy food. However, I can't eat their guac. I hypothetically had smoke come out of my nose it was so hot. BEST queso I've ever had. It tastes like goat cheese which is what queso should be made from. We go here a lot as a group for lunch. FOOD POISONING!!! CRYING OVER TOILET!!! DONT DO IT!!! I ordered vegetable fajitas with tamarind juice and my husband ordered a veggie burrito with horchata. The food tasted ok but I left feeling like something was wrong. I figured it was because I'd eaten too much, my belly doesn't have much room these days. A few hours later I'm dry heaving, vomiting , and blasting diarrhea at the same time. I'm also 6 months pregnant and the pain from my stomach contracting in order to reject the food had me in tears sitting in front of the toilet for hours. I've never felt worse. My server was kind and attentive but the food was a no. I'll never go back and I plan to report them to every entity who has the power to shut them down. read more

Solid Mexican food at a solid price. I come here on occasion for lunch and I must say, the steak burrito special is where it's at. A *sanely* portioned burrito with rice is about as much as I need to feel full, and the price is not shabby either, around $7. The chips and salsa are very good - I get mine with some fresh made guacamole that has a bit of a kick to it, which I like. And the service is friendly and very attentive, never have an empty glass or chip basket! I've noticed that the quality of the food has gone up over the last couple of months. I've been to Los Rancheros twice; once with my fiancé's mother (they thought we were a couple, but that's a story for another time) and about 2 weeks ago with my fiancé. Both times the restaurant has been pretty much empty, but that could be because it was late afternoon. Food was good, reasonably priced, and quick service. I was disappointed they didn't have tamales (they were out, boo), which I have been craving for weeks, but I was happy with my meal. I had a enchilada, chicken taco with rice and beans on the side for around 8 bucks. I wasn't too happy with the salad which turned out to be just a handful of shredded lettuce and a slice of a tomato. Other than that I was happy with my meal. I think there might be a bar on the other side of the restaurant so it might be a good place to have a private party or maybe happy hour with friends. read more

I had a meal here earlier and the meal just really wasn't that good to be completely honest. I ordered a burrito, it was topped with cheese but, the cheese was melted on top of it so it was like paste. I asked them to not put and onions or tomatoes because I had the interior with steak and those aren't complimentary. Even though I asked for it without it was filled with onions and tomatoes so that is clear evidence of bad communication between the staff. My own version of Cheers. I was introduced to Los Rancheros through a former co-worker about 3 years ago. I not only loved how close my friend was with all of the staff, but how they also welcomed me with open arms. After several visits I became a "regular". They all know my name, offer awesome hugs, know my drink order, as well as what I typically want to eat. I am a picky Bi@*h and like to make my own version of drinks or food. They are more than willing to accommodate my whims. Oscar is the bomb bartender. I tease him sometimes with the time it takes to make my drink, but he is always perfecting my usual & it gets better each time. I love going there for any occasion. I've now introduced a few friends who have made it there go-to spot and they are now introducing their extended friends. I highly recommend this place for drinks, food and atmosphere as you will probably recounting a few of us characters around when you are there. read more
