I received a nice welcome as I entered and since I knew my way around I began shopping. Everything is arranged by type of liquor with many sale items in the isleways. The selection is respectable and covers what most are searching for. They have a large cooler with multiple selections of beer that is very cold. The variety throughout the store is nice with a good selection of basic liquors and beers most want. The prices are competitive compared to most liquor stores. I wouldn't say the savings is enough to drive out of your way to say a dollar but if your already in the area, stop in. After 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and most weekends get busy but they move the customers quickly. I found what I came for and paid quickly. Nice employees, types of alcohol grouped together, fillers and condiments grouped together and friendly staff.

I was totally taken aback by the level of customer service I was provided. Upon entering the store, i headed to what I thought was the correct area. 2 different employees walked past and spoke to me as they walked by. I thought that was pretty nice. Then a third one went past and asked if they could help me. I told her what I was looking for and she walked me to it. I am happy she did. She showed me where the help wanted button was that I didn't see and that also wasn't labeled. But since she walked me back and identified it for me it was ok. Then an employee came back and helped me. She was very nice and pleasant and said she would have my order up front at the registers. Even the cashier was both nice and friendly. Each employee I encountered gave me a high level of customer service. I also liked the fact that the store was very neat and clean and very organized. I can tell by this location that customer service is very important to this company.

Hard liquor has little to no local products, and little variety other than what you would normally see at these corner liquor store type places. They do have a large walk-in cooler so if you really want your 30 pack of Hamm's ice cold, you can get that here. Normally this would be a 4 star, but the Upland I purchased here expired last month. I told them that someone told my coworker, but he couldn't make it today because of a dentist appointment. They proceeded to ring up my purchase but then told me they would never sell beer to me again, and that my coworker would not be welcome either. My coworker that received the 'tip' is not friends with the staff, nor does he go their frequently. He was their last week and one of the clerks leaned in and told him the brews might be available. I have no clue why they acted so rude towards me for asking. My only assumption is the workers wanted to save the brews for themselves. I would have much rather been told they didn't have it than be treated this way. That's okay, despite being threatened to be able to shop there again, I don't want to ever again. No matter what beer they have available. I HIGHLY recommend management discover both female workers on shift today at 4:15 and let them know it's not okay to treat paying customers this way. I'm letting all my coworkers know, all my friends, all my family.

The place is pretty typical for a Payless Liquors location, fair sized and reasonably well stocked. I went back to the coolers to find a sixer of local beer, and unfortunately the beer selection was lacking. Unfortunately, I found that the service was lacking as well. When I got to the counter to pay I had to stand there for entirely too long waiting on the cashier to break away from their phone long enough to ring me up. I finally had to speak up and was met by a heavy sigh, as if I was a huge inconvenience. When I asked about other places in the area that might have a better selection of local beers, I was told that people in Indiana don't really drink much beer, and that I would likely find about the same selection at most other beer/liquor stores unless I went downtown. Probably won't be stopping back in here on my next trip through Indy...
