This store has the best selection of single malt scotch. Friendly, helpful, laid back staff.

This is place to visit when you want to chat with the people behind the counter, whether it's because you want a recommendation or because you want them to help you find the perfect bottle for a gift. During my short time in the store, I was cheerfully greeted and showed around, but also left to browse by myself (which, as an introvert, I appreciated). The store is small and cozy, but they have a great selection of wine and other beverages that I haven't seen at bigger places. I ended up getting a bottle of Spanish red wine and a can of local white wine. I like to do that whole high-low thing sometimes, you know? WestClay Wine and Spirits does wine tastings and spirit tastings weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. You can keep up with their schedule on social media. I was encouraged to visit for a tasting, and was told that the tastings are super low-key and fun, and a good way to try something that might be new to me.

You're looking for a delicious Prosecco that doesn't break the bank. They've got one called indigenous that's amazing as an added bonus organically grown and no sugar added, so it doesn't taste like sugar water like that blue label Prosecco does, a champagne cost as much as taste twice as good chip as your man. You're looking for an amazing wedding present get some of a bottle of Bond or Harlan. They've got a little bit for everyone.

After having a drink we loved at SNUGG in Irvington (which had a specialty liqueur we'd never heard…read moreof) we made a special trip to Total Wine to try to replicate it at home. It's an Irish spirit called Shankey's. We were happy to find it there. They also have a nice selection of THC/Delta 9 drinks. Probably the best selection I've seen in Indiana. The employees are also SO helpful and welcoming especially when we bring our dog with us! Sometimes there are tastings and samples. It's a fun store with so many options and if they don't have what you're looking for they will try to order it for you.

Total Wine and I have a sorted past. Like any relationship, there have been peaks and valleys. Let…read moreme tell you about the peaks first. They have some of the best cognac pricing around. My favorite is Remy Martin with D'usse coming in second. I also enjoy the wine classes. I'm not a huge wine drinker, as I only enjoy sweet wines, but I find them informative and entertaining. Plus, the staff that leads those classes are always upbeat, excited and passionate about what they're teaching. Now for the valleys. The managers here have displayed some pretty pushy sales tactics, sometimes going as far as insulting us on our choices as to what to purchase. We never spend under $50 when we come here, and they are often pushing Total Wine- crafted options at a much lower price point. That aspect alone has converted me to a shopper who chooses to solely use the app for my purchases. My husband still goes inside from time to time. Now, the bottom bun of my compliment sandwich is the recent addition of cannabis- derived beverages or Delta 8 & Delta 9 drinks. They're a nice alternative to alcohol for those of us who like to "indulge".

I was looking for a specific tequilla... and they had it! Not only that they had several tequilas open for tasting so I was able to find a new tequila that is good tasting and very smooth. The sales associates on the floor are very knowledgeable; they don't just work there, they actually know what they are talking about which is very helpful. Since I was in the area, I thought I would give it a try. I was totally taken aback by the level of customer service I was provided. Upon entering the store, i headed to what I thought was the correct area. 2 different employees walked past and spoke to me as they walked by. I thought that was pretty nice. Then a third one went past and asked if they could help me. I told her what I was looking for and she walked me to it. I am happy she did. She showed me where the help wanted button was that I didn't see and that also wasn't labeled. But since she walked me back and identified it for me it was ok. Then an employee came back and helped me. She was very nice and pleasant and said she would have my order up front at the registers. Even the cashier was both nice and friendly. Each employee I encountered gave me a high level of customer service. I also liked the fact that the store was very neat and clean and very organized. I can tell by this location that customer service is very important to this company.

What is the universe telling me when yet another liquor store opens near where I live? Drink more…read morewine? (That's what I'm choosing to hear.) I guess Platinum Liquors doesn't mind that it's located a stone's throw from a Big Red, and a one-minute drive in all directions from either a liquor store or a grocery store that sells beer, wine and liquor. Maybe this is like when there are two Starbucks in the same shopping center -- more is more, and more is better for everyone's bottom line. In any case, I visited Platinum Liquors a day before its official grand opening. (It officially opens 4/15.) I've been curious as to what it looks like inside, so I popped my head in the door and asked if they were open. They were! I looked around a bit. This store is tidy and organized, and although it is small, it has an OK wine section. I saw a couple of bottles I wanted to try, but they didn't have prices on them yet, so who the heck knew if I was looking at a $10 bottle or a $80 bottle. Instead, I got a canned pineapple wine cocktail job from the refrigerated section, as a show of solidarity and goodwill. It was good but a little too sweet, like those canned drinks usually are. They have lots of cold drinks here, but I didn't see too many snacks or other nibbly things. Platinum Liquors is located right off of a big roundabout on Rangeline and 116th Street. It seems a little confusing to get to at first, but there are two entrances from the roundabout, so if you miss one, you can enter from the other side. You'll figure it out.
