While in ABQ roam around and find Breaking Bad locations. Twisters is favorite on multiple levels. The food is yummy, fast food isn't the best description. If you are not from the Southwest, be ready for a kick! Spicy, but oh so good. Grab a picture with Walter White and check out the Breaking Bad memorabilia. Very clean restaurant. read more

Look, I ain't no food critic or anything. I just work down at Beneke in shipping -- been there a few years, nothing fancy, just forklifts and invoices. I usually bring lunch from home, but last week I forgot my sandwich on the kitchen counter again (thanks, Marlene), so I figured I'd hit up Los Pollos Hermanos on my break. First off, the food? Not bad. Chicken was crispy, fries were hot, and the lemonade had real pulp in it. Better than the vending machine burritos we got at the plant. Place was clean too. Real clean. Kinda too clean, if you know what I mean. But here's the thing. While I'm sitting there eating, I notice this weird smell coming from the back. Not like fryer oil or bleach or anything normal. It was sharp... chemical-y? Almost like the stuff we use to clean the epoxy tanks at the factory. Burned the back of my throat a little. Made me stop mid-bite. I look around, but nobody else seems to notice. Everyone's chomping away like it's Sunday dinner. But I know that smell. I don't know what it is, but it wasn't spices, and it sure as hell wasn't poultry. Didn't think much of it until I mentioned it to Barry back at the warehouse and he just kinda gave me this weird look and changed the subject. Now I can't stop thinking about it. Food's solid. Service is friendly. But something's getting cooked back there that ain't on the menu, and I ain't tryna be part of whatever that is. read more

Great scorpion, chicken sandwich, though the real name is twisters we all know breaking bad.

I travel to New Mexico twice a year and each time I visit Los Pollos Hermanos for the finest chicken in the United States! When Gus Fring was in charge everything was stellar. I spoke with him on a few occasions. He was a wonderful man! Even after his tragic death the food, service, and ambiance were beyond satisfactory due to the newly promoted Manager Lyle. The former Manager Cynthia quit in the wake of the supposed Fring scandal. Unfortunately, Lyle no longer works there, and the establishment has lost its former luster. It's still good but not as great as it used to be. During a past visit Lyle confirmed what I always thought. Gus was framed by the DEA in a massive conspiracy. He was never a drug kingpin! Apparently, Lyle has a tell all book coming out soon? read more

On the one hand, I have never been to a twisters even though I moved to this state 4 years ago. On the other hand, I am a Breaking Bad fan and figured if I was going to try them, I had to go to the one from the show. Yes, it still looks like it did on TV (mostly) , although it has some added spots for fans- such as a corner with a guest book and large photos on the wall and a cutout where you can be Walt or Jesse on the couch in a the hazmat suit (while eating twisters) if you stick your head in. Overall, it felt a little surreal to be there as it was dead empty other than an employee eatting before leaving and someone else who left a (small) mess at the table that's under a piece of paper calling it Walt's booth. Place was clean, music was annoying and loud and coming from only 1 speaker, and the food... I got their chicken sandwich, whatever it's called, and it was hot, freshly made, and actually looked better than the picture on the menu. While this location is a little out of the way, I can only hope that other Twisters locations are just as good. read more

Gus Fring, the owner and on duty manager, constantly provides the utmost quality food to his customers; that and meth but the food is great and he treats his staff with respect. I believe Lyle has upper management written all over his face.... read more

Gus Fring was a dear friend who worked behind the counter at Los Pollos Hermanos. There was a time I stopped by with my buddy Jesse Pinkman and we ordered the regular double breast, double mash. The three of us got to talking about things going on in our lives. Gus was calm, cool and collected and seemed to know the answer to everything. Jesse on the other hand was a little more intense and was trying to convince me that I was a blowfish or something. I was bitching and complaining about how hard we work for those we love but they don't seem to appreciate all those hours we spend cooking in the lab. Gus gave me some very sage advice: "When you have children, you always have family. They will always be your priority, your responsibility. And a man, a man provides. And he does it even when he's not appreciated or respected or even loved. He simply bears up and he does it. Because he's a man." I was waiting to hear more but Jesse got a call from some guy named Walter that seemed to agitate him so we had to bounce. That was the last time I saw Gus. Sadly he was a victim of terrorism during a visit to his friend Tio Salamanca at the old folks home. I don't believe all those stories about him being a crystal methamphetamine distributor. Los Pollos Hermanos - Fast Food Near Me

Aw man, this place is the BOMB! Best place to get fried chicken and fries in ABQ. Period. Get anything on the menu. Seriously, anything. Their secret ingredient must be meth or something, it's so ADDICTIVE. I would eat here every day if I didn't have to watch my waistline. I have seen everyone here: grandmothers, dog trainers, athletes, seriously, anyone and everyone. Even ran into my high school chemistry teacher here once. Tried to say hi to him but he looked sickly, agitated, and blew me off; looked like he was waiting pretty intently for something or someone. Maybe they were taking a long time to make his food. I haven't had that problem of waiting a long time for food, even when they're busy. I had to dock a star because there was an incident when I was here a few weeks ago in which two thugs came in looking for Gus Fring, the owner. Must've been something really personal because they took to intimidating me and the rest of the customers and staff. It was a scary, almost hostage situation, but thank God the customers were eventually allowed to leave. Mr. Fring personally contacted me, and I'm sure the other customers, with a sincere apology, offer to pay for PTSD counseling if I want to talk to someone about it, and vouchers for free food for a year. Goodbye, waistline! I thought he handled the situation so professionally, but shame on those men for disrupting his business! Plus he is a huge sponsor of local charitable organizations, like programs to keep kids off drugs. I really like this man's spirit of generosity and his business model! Hey, this is the one thing that even APD and local criminals can come together to agree on: KILLER fried chicken and fries TO DIE FOR! read more

Wow, this place is so clean! I don't know what's in that chicken, but it always makes me wired after. It tastes so good! I saw my neighbor there the other day. He is bald but wears a black hat. He always seems a bit paranoid and stressed. Gus makes everyone feel at home, and he is so polite, but there is something wrong with half his face. At least that guy in the wheelchair stopped coming here. That old geezer wouldn't stop ringing the bell on his chair. Eat here! Enjoy everything they have on and off the menu. read more

I was always pretty sure this place was a mob front... But in Albuquerque!? That guy Gus who blew himself up was always at the Isleta location smiling like an idiot... Like he had a personal joke going on.. And low and behold.. The joke was on the Feds... I'm not sure how good the chicken was but I understand that the junk they were producing ruined a lot of lives.... Turns out that he secret recipe had nothing to do with chicken... And that is just plain false advertising... This is an issue I intend to take up with the BBB. Id give them one star.. But I fear the ramifications. read more

Ah Los Pollos Hermanos how back in the day you ruled the ABQ fried chicken scene. I used to be a loyal customer here but the new ownership has really led this place down the tubes. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/los-pollos-hermanos-albuquerque?select=DSp3NQNBtuPZYa5RT4PSjw#DSp3NQNBtuPZYa5RT4PSjw Many a day I'd come in here to get a bite to eat. I miss the great lunch specials too. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/los-pollos-hermanos-albuquerque?select=DSp3NQNBtuPZYa5RT4PSjw#GVjzot9a5-BEih1WRXf0aw Now days its hit & miss the new ownership just doesn't know how to maintain the consistency that the previous owner did. Often overcooking or undercooking the chicken. I recently got sick after eating some undercooked chicken from this location. When I called and complained the next day all I got was attitude and excuses. Also there is an unsavory element that has begun to consolidate around this location. For a guy who doesn't even like fried chicken, Los Pollos Hermanos has won me over. On a recent trip to Albuquerque for work, a buddy and I needed lunch. He works in the area and knew the owner from some of his charity work. The owner, Gus, treated us like royalty. He gave us the grand tour of the cooking area which was quite modern for a fast food establishment. What was really impressive about the owner was how down to earth he was. That guy owns numerous restaurant locations, and makes a fortune, but still drives an old Volvo. It's nice meeting such nice upstanding citizens. Besides the great owner, the chicken was absolutely amazing. I don't know how they cook or season that chicken, but it was tender, juicy and amazingly flavorful. The sides weren't really anything special, but that chicken. Yum. I am seriously considering flying in just to eat this chicken again. I am quite hopeful that my request to open a franchise in Louisiana is successful. If you find yourself in the Albuquerque area, check out Los Pollos Hermanos. You will not be disappointed. read more

I've always loved LPH. But ever since Mr. Fring passed so suddenly, service has not been the best. He used to take my orders and personally hand them to me, always with a smile. And there's always a few extra pieces in there. Not this time though. Of all things, they forgot to put any of the famous Madrigal sauces in there. Not a single one, not even Franch. Is it my fault that I forgot to check?! At least the guy put paper cups for drinks as I requested. Chicken is always finger-lickin' good, though. Sorry KFC. Crunchy on outside, and never dry on the inside. They say Mr. Fring was a bad guy. I don't care, he made good chicken and he never messed anything up. He was always good to us regulars, that's for sure. The chicken business will never be the same again without him. Once I thought I saw Mr. Fring on TV and thought he was alive. It's just a guy named Major Tom Neville. Maybe it's his half-brother. Oh well. read more

Best fried chicken west of the Mississippi! Big props to the guy who runs this corporation, Gus. He's very hands on and you can see him in many locations, but especially this one. He is very good at controlling everything from the top to the bottom - this is a well-run organization, err business. Some people say they don't feel safe here, and I understand, there seem to sometimes be Mexican drug cartel members coming in, but you can't really stop them or it's discrimination. They don't hurt anybody. Just live and let live, folks. read more

This place is delicious. Dropped in while driving en route to Cali. Got the bucket of chicken as well as some sides. Chicken was crisp like an apple, juicy like couture, and filling like I just went to a dentist. The chipotle grilled corn was CHOICE as every kernel packed a punch. The salsa verde was a concert of flavors. But the best part? They must have threw in some blue pop rocks for dessert and that was just icing on the cake! I don't really remember much of what happened but going through my girls phone, we went to some kid's (think his name was Pinkman?) house party and just raved there for the rest of the night. Weird thing was we went back and asked for some more of that candy and the lady had no idea what we were talking about. O well. Definitely a 'must visit' if in the ABQ!!! read more

I used to love this place, my friend Flynn turned me on to it. I guess he used to go with his uncle all the time. He was complaining that they didn't have a great breakfast menu, but you can't please everyone. I don't think he knew about their secret menu (it puts in & out's secret menu to shame) Sadly the quality has gone down pretty substantially over the past few months. I can't put a percentage on it, but it's obvious something has changed, and not for the better. I don't know if they got new cooks or changed the recipe (everyone's trying to go gluten free lately) I haven't seen the manager around lately (I heard something about him going to his friend Billy's?) but I have half a mind to give him an earful next time I see him as this used to be one of my favorite places to get food, but lately I've been getting better service at the Dog House or the Crossroads Motel (they have awesome vending machines) read more

The chicken is amazing but still had major issues with LPH: 1. Ambience - While I was eating, two terrifying looking Mexican men were in the restaurant looking around for someone. 2. Customer Service - When I asked to speak to the manager, the overweight Latina at the counter said he wasn't there, when I could've SWORN he was!! 3. The weird bald guy - Always there, never eating! I vastly prefer the Pollos Hermanos chicken to KFC, Chik-Fil-A or even El Pollo Loco. It's always fresh and juicy and flavorful. I joke to my friends that they must put crack in their mashed potatoes because DANG they are good. There's also this blue milkshake that they bring out seasonally in wintertime. You wouldn't think it would go well with the food, but somehow I can't stop drinking it as soon as I get it, and when the shake season is over I get irrationally cranky for weeks afterwards. It's that good. The last owner was really nice and he would always give all his employees a nice Chistmas bonus. The new management has had some hiccups, but that's to be expected. Conveniently located on the way to Saul Goodman's office. Which reminds me. I better call him. Little situation he's helping me out with. However, if you find yourself in other parts of the southwest, they are all over the map. I see their trucks ERRYWHERE. read more

I like Los Pollos Hermanos because it's convenient and fast, even for a fast food restaurant. First off, there is plenty of parking out front. The staff is extremely well managed and even stop by tables to ensure that your soda is refilled. The chicken is nice and tender with a great blend of spices. The fries are maybe not the greatest though, so minus one star. However, if you are looking for some excellent fried chicken, you can do a lot worse than this place! My only complaint is that there are sometimes people who just seem to be sitting in the restaurant, not really eating or anything. I mean, it's fried chicken so if you see someone just sitting, not eating, it's kind of weird. I mean, sometimes I'll see people there before I get in and they'll still be sitting there after I leave. Kind of weird but they don't seem to be bothering anyone. Incidentally, I think there has been a recent change in management. But it hasn't changed my overall enthusiasm for this place. read more

FOR SOME REASON THIS PLACE SEEMS A BIT OFF. I used to eat here all the time but the place just seems a bit off the mark to me. Food is actually not that bad.... even the strange "franch dressing" is not too bad. I used to like to come here with my secretary for lunch because it was a place that we could get a decent lunch and still not run into anyone who knew us--- if you know what I mean? The restaurant is surprisingly clean and orderly for a place that is not in the best part of town. Most places in this neighborhood are just greasy spoons with an over abundance of dead flies in the window sills. But Los Pollos Hermanos is a well run establishment with decent food and prices. So why only two stars some may ask? Well, that part is hard to explain, but it's really about the "vibe" the place gives me. The workers are all professional, but they all seem to have this detached look in their eyes like something is going on in their heads that we aren't supposed to know about... you know, sort of like Scientologists. PROS: Plenty of parking, clean dining area and restrooms, and decent food for the prices. CONS: Odd workers who seem to be in a cult like trance. They also don't accept EBT cards. In addition: What's the deal with the 100 filtered reviews for this place? SERIOUSLY BITCH! read more

Old Mexico in New Mexico! Yes, the old ways prevail at Los Pollos Hermanos. What looks like just another fast foot restaurant actually brings together the finest ingredients with love and care, and then slow cooks them to perfection. Whenever I eat here, I know I'll have an A1 day because something delicious is always cooking! This must be a front for a meth lab because their wings are crazy addictive! LOL! But don't take my word for it. One taste ... and you'll know. Bonus tip: their napkins are great for taking notes! As someone who works with industrial air-filtration systems, I need to write down important part numbers and their napkins are the new Post-It notes. Their material is so durable that I'm sure those napkins will outlast me! UPDATE: I deducted one star because I saw one of the fry cooks remove a bullet casing from the batter. Ugh. This place place USED to be top notch. I had never been to such a great fried chicken place. The management was very hands on and professional. The former manager Gus would always come out to say hi to patrons and you could always see him talking with customers in the booths (but sometimes the conversations were a bit serious for a lunch time chat). Sigh , I never had such damn good fried chicken. And the biscuits --- someone call the cops! Shit was so good it should have been illegal - it was like I was on drugs. I loved coming here before I moved to CA for graduate school. The chicken was so good I knew I could never forget it. As if that wasn't enough, I had the honor of meeting Gus (the manager). One time I told him I really liked his yellow shirt and he thanked me by giving me a free 2-piece meal! He even asked me for my name and invited me to the DEA fun run. I don't think any manager in the world can be like Gus. The day before I moved to CA, I wanted to show my appreciation for Gus and gave him my lucky box cutter. He told me I'm always welcomed and said he'll always take my order personally. I also saw my high school friend Jesse talking to my high school chemistry teacher Mr. White. I wanted to say hi but they seemed busy. I wondered what the two of them were doing together. I used to go there all the time and this place was always packed during lunch. Sometimes you couldn't even get a seat. On one particular day there was no seats available and you had to wait to get a seat. What bugged me was two guys sitting together and they didn't even appear to be eating. Well another table opened and we had a great lunch. Then this elderly couple came in and there was no seating for them and were forced to stand. The two guys were still just sitting there not saying anything at all or eating. So I went over to them and said "Hey, if you are not eating give up the table" and they just stared at me. These so-called tough guys just kept staring making me think "Oh I'm so scared of a couple of guys sitting together" and I doubt they were the type who could cause any harm to anyone anyway. Meanwhile the better half went up to the cashier who then went over and told these two they had to order or leave. Of course they tried to act all bad until the manger or owner came out and off they went. Oh yeah, real tough guys huh? The manager was a real nerdy looking guy and they were totally scared of him! Turns out these two guys got into trouble with the law. They didn't look like your typical criminal masterminds and were probably small time going by my expert analysis of the situation...
