That's what you should expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant. Let's start with the tuna tartar tostada. It was a bluefin tuna with an oil blend, raw onion with ginger, jicama, Serrano chili, and ponzu sauce with cured lemon. It was so fresh and well-balanced. Next, I got the Tiradito De Jurel, which was so delicious and fresh. It is jurel fish mix of oils, chilhualcle chili paste, fried chives, fried kale, ponzu sauce with cured lemon. Next, I tried the green ceviche. It was the catch of the day, house marinade, green pasta, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and green apple. You can identify each ingredient and flavor. Next, I tried the Black Aguachile, which had shrimp black paste with chintextle, red onion, cilantro, jicama, and sliced cucumber. The black aguachile had a very smoky flavor. Something I've never tried before. For drinks, I had a ceniza de corazón. It had white bacanora, cucumber, extract, and chili ash syrup, and a mojito, which had rum, mint, and lemon. The service was top tier. The waiter answered all of our questions. He was excellent. I would definitely come again.

We made reservations for brunch and Mixtura was a fitting end to an overall incredible experience for our first time in the Valley. Initially, the service was a little scattered as I think our waitress was a little overwhelmed with a large group of 13 women. However, she was joined by a second server and we were on a roll. Tots to the mixologist, the drinks were beautifully displayed and my French 75 adorned with a lavender sprig was deserving of its own photo shoot. Oh my heavenly the food was to die for! We literally ordered a smorgasbord of food to include the browned butter waffles that we all salivated over! The raw and grilled oysters, tuna crudo, Neapolitan pizza and hummus are just a few items we ordered. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and cannot wait to come back.

We had Michael as our server and he was fantastic - very informative, pleasant, inviting, knowledgeable and so attentive. He really knows the menu and made great recommendations. We ordered a great assortment of hot and cold tapas and everything was full of flavor and came out so fast: Cold to start - **Sardinas en Aceite** - Sardines in olive oil - so clean and flavorful, perfect with bread. Hot tapas - **Rabas** - Fried calamari, perfectly crispy and not greasy at all. **Gambas al Ajillo** - Shrimp in garlic - sizzling, garlicky, ideal for mopping up with bread. And the **Rabo de Toro** - Oxtail slowly braised in rioja wine sauce - fall-off-the-bone tender, rich and deeply savory. Best dish of the night. To finish, **Crema Catalana** - Spanish-style creme brulee - very flavorful with a perfect custard texture and that crackly caramelized top. All around a wonderful experience. Authentic Spanish tapas done right, right here on Garnet. We will definitely be back!

The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, especially for the middle of the day, making it a great spot to unwind over a few tapas and drinks. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful, walking us through the menu and offering recommendations, which made ordering much easier for first-timers. My favorite dish was the ham and cheese-filled tapa--it was rich, crispy, and packed with flavor. We also enjoyed the chicken with onions and the sausage, both of which were simple but well-executed. As with most traditional tapas bars, don't come expecting a huge meal since the portions are meant for sharing and sampling. The sangria was refreshing and paired well with the food, though it wasn't particularly memorable. Overall, Costa Brava is a great place for happy hour, good conversation, and authentic tapas with attentive service in a welcoming atmosphere.

As a Colombian who has been craving authentic Colombian cuisine since my last visit to New York in…read moreDecember, I can confidently say this restaurant truly satisfied those cravings. Being nearly eight months pregnant, my expectations were especially high, and it is rare to find a place that meets them so well. From the seasoning of the food to the warm and attentive service, everything about this restaurant stands out. Although I don't recall my server's name, he was incredibly kind and provided excellent service throughout. The ambiance is also worth noting--the space is large, offers plenty of seating options, and even features a large TV, making it a great spot to relax or watch sports. To start, I ordered a watered mango juice along with a beef empanada. The empanada exceeded my expectations--despite being on the smaller side, it was packed with flavor. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered five more to go, which speaks for itself. They were served with fresh ají, a traditional sauce that complemented them perfectly. For my main course, I had the carne asada plate, which included steak, rice, beans, sweet plantains, avocado, tomato slices, and a small arepa. Every component of the dish was well-executed--the beans were flavorful, the meat was well-seasoned, and the overall plate felt authentic. It is often difficult to find truly authentic Colombian food, especially in San Diego, where options are limited or not genuinely Colombian. This restaurant, however, delivers on authenticity and flavor. The portion size was generous, and I ended up taking leftovers home to enjoy later. In addition to the empanadas (two chicken and three beef), I also ordered a buñuelo and a cheese arepa to go. Unfortunately, these items did not meet the same standard. The arepa lacked flavor and was overly greasy, and the buñuelo was dry and similarly oily, even after absorbing excess grease from the bag. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Colombian food, especially given how rare it is to find quality options in this area. Friends of mine visited recently as well and thoroughly enjoyed their bandeja paisa, further confirming the consistency of the food. I will definitely be returning--especially for those empanadas.
