Proud mama!!!! She ordered water I got tea. The service was friendly, fast and uninterrupted. We ordered carne asada and nachos. I can't remember all my daughter asked as toppings but it looked great! Food was good it came fast and hot! The steak was cooked to perfection. The only thing was that no cheese was mentioned on the menu but it did have it melted over the beans. It wasn't queso fresco; I couldn't tell what kind of cheese it was, maybe white American, but it was awful! I pushed it aside. My daughter said her nachos also had the same cheese on her nachos and she didn't like it either but the rest of the toppings were fantastic. lol when the chips were placed on the table with it were two bowls. One bowl was clearly salsa and the other was white so I dipped thinking it was queso. Yuck !!!! It definitely wasn't queso!! The restaurant could be cleaner. There were smudges on the windows and back door of dining area. The wall by kitchen you can see stains, dirt. The ladies room full length mirror had smudges and the center stall has a broken toilet seat. It was well stocked with paper towels and toilet paper and a soft fragrance. The outside signage wasn't very visible from the shopping center entrance. I had to loop around the parking lot toward the car wash and behind it, it was on that end. Don't know if there was a cross contamination with an allergen but after I left I had to take an allergy pill. I felt nausea and a scratchy feeling in my throat. Unfortunately I will have to eliminate Mex food from my diet it doesn't sit well.

The place is very clean, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I got the carnitas platter; it…read morecomes with rice, refried beans, cheese, tortillas, chips, and salsa. There was a lot of food, and it all tasted very good. Now, I didn't get limes for the carnitas or cilantro, and what threw me off the most is I got a side of ranch (I didn't know what to use it on). I paid 28 bucks for all that plus a soda. Overall, it's very good, and I'll be back again for sure.

I was greeted by warm and welcoming customer service and seated promptly. The ambiance is very cool, imagine diner style. I ordered the birria tacos, and they were beyond delicious! From the tasty broth filled with flavor, to the authentic and delicious salsa with a nice spice kick! I ordered four tacos total! I ate every single taco down to the last bite too! This place was absolutely phenomenal! From the customer service, to the flavors, and so much more! I will be stopping by again in the future.

I am so glad this is my first review for 2025. We are so lucky to have this gem in Lewistown. I…read morewill openly admit, I am a taco snob from the west who grew up with Latina girlfriends and homemade tamales either given or purchased in a Walmart parking lot from a kind auntie. IYKYK. There are only 4 taco places I would eat In Pennsylvania period and one them was featured on Netflix. This made it to top 3. In a place where diversity and authentic flavors are unfamiliar and unknown, we finally have Don Julio for the world to see here! I knew when I tasted that Horchata, we were in business along with the Masa flour bags of course. We also get carnitas as a test everywhere and do you see that slight crisp on that soft carnitas (aka it's pulled pork for those unfamiliar but better)?! You had me there because that's the only way to eat carnitas. We are slowly going through the menu but I recommend this place for wonderful service and real Mexican food (no not the 1000 chains in Harrisburg or state college). Stop by on your way to a Penn state game or visiting state college to beat the crowds and get real food! Yes you have Taco Bell and your typical fast casual chipotle when you're in a pinch. But support local and they do quick take out as well! Now enough compliments here are the stats 20/10 - the food take out or not has wonderful flavor and is authentic. Come here if you want real Mexican food. It's all made from scratch and is reasonably priced for the amount of food and meat you get per bite. Price and value per bite friends in this economy? Wowza. They start you out with chips and salsa and salsa tastes way better than what you usually get in other places but resist the urge to fill up on chips if you can.. What to do: Carnitas - obviously? Not spicy Birria tacos is basically beef that's been braised in that little soup they give with tons of flavor that then make baby quesadillas with. Not spicy - that's what the hot sauce is for. Chorizo tacos - think spiced ground pork that has real flavor. It can be considered spicy to some palettes. I would ask for more hot sauce or to try different sauces. Ps I will add more comments and pictures as we go through their menu. 10/10 - service, we had a very attentive waitress and my only comment is we need to find a better way to ease people who have never tried real Mexican food. I can see locals feeling overwhelmed and struggling to make choices since their basis of comparison are the two places above sadly. Ambiance is like family restaurant vibes. You're here to eat and talk! This is not a dimly lit not enough to eat vibe. You'll leave full and joyous. Things you may struggle but don't hold it against them: parking. The parking is shared with the local beer store so it can get tight. Just park at Lowe's if you're desperate. Or take out? No alcohol for those who care or need. If they get their liquor or beer and wine license, I can see even more people coming! Winning combo. They take card and cash. And for those local - it's in the same place as the sticky bun diner. And you will need to come on in on the side. Lastly if they offer Italian don't be phased and try it. The owner cooked Italian food for the longest time in the area so it'll be fire.

It was a…read morechicken chimichanga and a steak burrito. the only things that was annoying was the cost of everything. It was $60 something dollars for a chimichanga, a burrito, and a side of guac. which they said was the lg size but it was a very small cup. I had also wanted my chimichanga smothered in queso and idr if it had came like that already but I wanted to make sure my husband asked for it when he ordered. Tell me why they poured the cheese into the container and then put my chimichanga on top of the cheese instead of the other way around, they also added another cup of cheese that they charged us for when we didn't even ask for it. It takes no time to explain and confirm a customers order instead of just adding things to peoples bills without consideration for their wallet or preferences. Then these places wanna throw a tip screen in your face after doing the bare minimum, like nah. I just paid $60 for a couple burritos and small cup of guac, take it out of that. Anyway, I'm sure we will be back but now I wont be able to relax and with def be asking more questions and being more specific.
